Is this thing close or what? I’m seeing some vids where it’s looking almost complete and then other vids where basic stuff is still being rendered

Nobody knows, and don't ask. Seems to be the policy for the Corsair

This is the great unknown. They polish the model, there are videos but with new animations and possibly textures, but we don't know the state of coding, and this is the most important part ;). Personally, I don't expect it too soon like TWO WEEKS (tm), rather autumn but this autumn I hope :).

My prediction is 2025 or 26. Remember these guys are doing this in their spare time. It may never come out, who knows. I do know that at a minimum ED should require that an aircraft showcased as 'on the way' should be no more than 90 days away from completion. I think that hard rule would end a lot of the 'two more weeks' scenarios.

Hmmmmm.........why is it harder and take longer to build a computerized replica (toy) of a historical aircraft that was designed using slide rules, built with 1942 technology, and deployed in 24 months?

OK, I get it.  We traveled and landed on the Moon in 1969,  but we can't do it again in 2023.

🧐

My guess is that more than just a handful of people worked on the F4U back then, and more than full time workdays. Compared to the actual handful of people that do it in their spare time today...

ED can't win however they do it 😛
- Devs announce it when they start working on it - "Outcry! It's taking too long! Vaporware!"
- Devs announce it close to actual release - Other devs didn't know it was being worked on, and get a tiny bit annoyed.. (also, in the meantime; "Outcry! Why isn't anyone working on <insert aircraft>
yet!")

Love sarcasms 😐 .. particularly the subtle way to demote Sims to toy level.

I'm sure the developers could do this much faster if the prospective buyers were willing to accept a price closer to the one of that historic aircraft ... but for 50 bucks, you will have to settle with a slower development-

There is one solution. However it is a painful one. Do not announce or sell any aircraft Mod that is not at lease 90% complete, and has been reviewed by ED.

Another solution would be for the users to read the EA definition before purchasing, tough reading seems to be a painful chore for some.

I love how some new users feel that they can give business lessons to ED, always makes me laugh a bit 😀

What were you promised exactly by M3?

Absolutely nothing…

Clearly those 50 years of business were not in a relatable or remotely close to programming/sim development

The umpteenth time of "where is my"... as it happened before with the F-16, AH-64, F-14, F-15E and a long etc... this kind of discussions are repeated cyclically and do not contribute anything.

Considering that ED has been in the market since 1991 of the last century, already 32 years, I think he knows something about sales techniques and product construction. Besides, it is another recurring theme as if the company was born yesterday, and on top of that, diversifying products that are not only for the entertainment market, but also for the professional market. But we have talking about of a 3rd party project... no ED.

I have 50 years' experience in business, and proper business procedures, marketing, and customer service.  You do not mislead your customer base with empty promises, give them unfinished products, and or ignore your customer base suggestions.

I'll say it again. It's not the developers, it's the general management of Eagle Dynamics. The buck stops there.

I am sorry to say you do not have the F4U yet as the F4U is not ready to have. When it is ready, you will have it. Continue to follow M3 for updates on its progress. If you have deeper issues with us (Eagle Dynamics) feel free to send me a DM. I am closing this thread for now as there is nothing new beyond development is ongoing.

Thanks

Its really sad..there is SUCH a big WW2 following that I don't understand why there is not more AC out there.

I don't know if DCS is old enought to remember...but "Back in the Day..." there was a game called IL2 - 1946  it was one of the biggest games to fly in. They also had FLYABLE bombers...nothing to crazy..you could fly and switch positions..it was AWESOME!! Servers were packed and we used to do a thing called Bomber Night where the 4 horseman hosted a server and every Friday night it was fighters against the bombers basically.  Great fun to be had...  So whenever this corsair comes out, make sure there is japanese AC to go against....Betty's, Zero's whatever ya can get. If ya can ..how about a Heinkle ??

On DCS, flyable aircrafts include: 2 british, 3 german, 2 american and 1 russian. In development we have at least 1 american and 1 russian.  You find that not enough? I wonder how many people have all of them.  What we truly need are more AI ww2 aircrafts, wish either the WW2 assets pack was expanded, or a Pacific WW2 assets produced, I would purchase it instantly (tough I can already hear the complaints from the MP users)

We need both.

Mag3 is doing it right with ship(s) enemy AI assets both ground and air. My beef with Mag3 isn't quality or vision or even the time it takes. Just their lack off/bad communication. I'm sure what they relase will be fantastic whenever it comes.

It's ED that needs to prioritise WW2

It's 6 years and counting since ED talked about B24, B25, B26, 109G and Typhoon AI assets.

I really don't care about that, why loose sleep over a non-released module?  I don't need to read any update, focusing on learning my current Module instead. The only communication I ned is the release news ... and hope that it will have a dicount for early adopters.

From my impression interest in WW2 aviation has waned considerably in the last 15 years and is nowhere near the level it was during the heyday of Il-2 and CFS2/3. Cold War aircraft seem to fill this niche now, especially in DCS. Maybe people are more interested in planes they know from their childhood or which their fathers and grandfathers flew or worked with.

That other current WW2 sim is far far bigger in the WW2 market, even tho it's missing some very basics stuff(not even related to "realism" )
But it does give a "complete" ww2 experience. You're not flying a P51 simulator, but a WW2 simulator. And if DCS had that, I would guess WW2 would be huge. But a lack of a complete WW2 experience, plus WW2 DCS seem to be even more of a resource hog than modern DCS is holding it back. It will be interesting how the 3rd sim will do once the new big visual update is out, it will give a complete BOB experience plus much more, lets you make scenarios not possible in any other current sim,

Did I miss something, 3rd sim? Unless you mean the civilian one, could you whisper it?
