Rissala Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 (edited) I'm curious. What does Bas 100 stand for? Never heard of "Bas 100" used to describe any Finnish roadbases. That entire Bas roadbase system is a Swedish thing. Edited May 3, 2024 by Rissala
Kappa-131st Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 I'm disapointed. The map is ugly, even on the "HD" region. Severomorsk : 10 2
Ironhand Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 So I purchased the map thru DCS. Normally I go into the module manager and my purchase is there ready for installation. But, with this map. it's not. So how do I install it? On my case, I watched the long video streaming of @104th_Maverick and I realized that the runway, taxiway and ramp textures were flat and featureless, the airbases had little detail and didn't have lightowers, and that some ground textures (on the low res area) were very rough; but on the other hand there were so many trees and lakes, most of norway mountains were pretty detailed, the cities had nice detail and night lighting, and the ports were very detailed. I was torn, on the one hand I wanted to postpone the purchase until after the Razbam situation has been cleared, but on the other the Viggen is one of my favorite aircrafts and I so wanted to fly it here .... so, I closed my eyes, thought about it for a while and finally chose to buy ... been playing with it for a couple of hours and have no regrets so far ... I'm enjoying it and the performance is adequate on my old GPU (a GTX-1170i) 2 minutes ago, Ironhand said: So how do I install it? You need to update DCS to version 2.9.4.53990, which appeared today. 4 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
zerO_crash Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 (edited) People claim a lot. The map is fantastic. Sure, it's work in progress, thus much remain to be done. However still, at this stage, it is essentially on par with Syria/Sinai, albeit in a different climate. Splendid stuff! Edited May 3, 2024 by zerO_crash 5 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Rudel_chw Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Also, to the cost of the Map itself, you may need to add budget for a larger hard drive ... I had to uninstall the Channel Map in order to get enough space, even so my C drive was left with just 60 GB free, so I will start saving towards a 2 TB SSD soon For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

Производительность с теми деревьями, которые им были нужны, была не очень хорошей, поэтому в итоге они использовали деревья скорости DCS по умолчанию. Thank you. It's a shame if that's the case. Even if some parts slower than others. In due time we might see improvements to assets optimization techniques. Everything is subject to change. 1
kotor633 Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 I'm grateful that there's finally a map with a green landscape (and in the near future with snow). But the videos I've seen on YouTube so far don't blow me away. And I can't share the 'hype' that some people are showing here in the forum. I'd rather wait at least a year until ORBX has made a proper upgrade. 3 ************************************** DCS World needs the Panavia Tornado! Really! **************************************

I am going buying now, cheaper .. get more time to play it. 1
Schmidtfire Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 I will wait. Seems like very Early Access. High price but not even the right types of trees or winter textures? It's a cool area, so hopefully Orbx will turn this into the map it deserves to be
PLUTON Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 In 2 hours I only downloaded 7 Giga out of 153 at this rate I would take advantage of the card from Monday (I download at 0.7 mega/s) and even at times I go down to 400 kb/s Great 1

Raisuli Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Flew a helo from Murmansk airport to Severomorsk, then an F-18 low level from Bodo to Kiruna. Frame rates a little lower on the Murmansk run, and entirely GPU bound. Back to normal on the west side CPU/GPU bound. On the whole, not remotely disappointed. Some artifacts, sure. Some oddities. Some performance hits. It's early access, it's huge, and it's pretty awesome. 3

There's just so much developers can do with what they get. 2
waterman Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Hi can someone check - Do the DCS trains work ok on the Kola Map Railway Network ? Someone please give the WW2 addon class 86 steam Locomotive a Run. Is it on correct track height and does it smoke and do the wheels turn and animate ok
