I'm curious. What does Bas 100 stand for?
Never heard of "Bas 100" used to describe any Finnish roadbases. That entire Bas roadbase system is a Swedish thing.

So I purchased the map thru DCS. Normally I go into the module manager and my purchase is there ready for installation. But, with this map. it's not. So how do I install it?

On my case, I watched the long video streaming of @104th_Maverick and I realized that the runway, taxiway and ramp textures were flat and featureless, the airbases had little detail and didn't have lightowers, and that some ground textures (on the low res area) were very rough; but on the other hand there were so many trees and lakes, most of norway mountains were pretty detailed, the cities had nice detail and night lighting, and the ports were very detailed.

I was torn, on the one hand I wanted to postpone the purchase until after the Razbam situation has been cleared, but on the other the Viggen is one of my favorite aircrafts and I so wanted to fly it here .... so, I closed my eyes, thought about it for a while and finally chose to buy ... been playing with it for a couple of hours and have no regrets so far ... I'm enjoying it and the performance is adequate on my old GPU (a GTX-1170i)

People claim a lot. The map is fantastic. Sure, it's work in progress, thus much remain to be done. However still, at this stage, it is essentially on par with Syria/Sinai, albeit in a different climate.

Also, to the cost of the Map itself, you may need to add budget for a larger hard drive ... I had to uninstall the Channel Map in order to get enough space, even so my C drive was left with just 60 GB free, so I will start saving towards a 2 TB SSD soon

They've addressed this already.  Performance wasn't great with the trees they wanted so they ended up using DCS's default speedtrees.

Thank you. It's a shame if that's the case. Without conifers, the north is not quite northern.

Yup, don't lose your hope though. I'm sure that as mentioned, with better hardware/software, we'll get updates resembling the iconic nature even more

I agree. DCS as a whole moves forward. Even if some parts slower than others. In due time we might see improvements to assets optimization techniques.

I'm grateful that there's finally a map with a green landscape (and in the near future with snow). But the videos I've seen on YouTube so far don't blow me away. And I can't share the 'hype' that some people are showing here in the forum. I'd rather wait at least a year until ORBX has made a proper upgrade.

Mixed reviews so far, not as I have hoped.

However, eventually I will end up buying the map anyway.

I am going buying now, cheaper .. get more time to play it.

I will wait. Seems like very Early Access. High price but not even the right types of trees or winter textures?
It's a cool area, so hopefully Orbx will turn this into the map it deserves to be

Flew a helo from Murmansk airport to Severomorsk, then an F-18 low level from Bodo to Kiruna.  Frame rates a little lower on the Murmansk run, and entirely GPU bound.  Back to normal on the west side CPU/GPU bound.  On the whole, not remotely disappointed.  Some artifacts, sure.  Some oddities.  Some performance hits.  It's early access, it's huge, and it's pretty awesome.

Winter textures are planned for June. So not a long wait.

You will find such spots on every map, unfortunately. I think it's more of a DCS basic problem than the developers fault. See the trees discussion. There's just so much developers can do with what they get.

Do the DCS trains work ok on the Kola Map Railway Network ?

Someone please give the WW2 addon class 86 steam Locomotive a Run.

Is it on correct track height and does it smoke and do the wheels turn and animate ok
