It's been some time since I have followed these type of threads, but I am curious as to what 2.9 may have to offer as far as new features, modules, long awaited fixes?

If I am considered to be a bad boy for creating speculation here please forgive me.

Intel i5-9600K @ 3.7GHz; Gigabyte Z370XP SLI Mobo; G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 64GB (4 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4

Windows 11 Professional

HP Reverb G2 /TrackIR 5 in case VR dies; Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog w/ Thrustmaster T-Flight Rudder Pedals

^ Snippets of such info are generally to be found in Friday Newsletters. Last one, for example, mentions some A-10 stuff will be added to 2.9, but since I'm a warbird guy, I don't even understand half of systems mumbo-jumbo written there 😉 .

Wags videos are usually a good indicator for new features, especially if it says COMMING SOON 😉

Maybe DLSS, maybe Ai revamp, maybe dynamic weather, new ATC, MT as the only exe, DC preview, maybe none of the above🤷‍♂️ I would also venture a reasonable guess that MT will be out of its “preview” state as well. But always hoping for something unexpected! I think DCS 3.0 will be the wait everyone is really hoping for.

We haven't seen any official TM improvements for quite some patches.

There might have been improvements they just didn't add to the change log.

But TM doesn't seem to be in a "ready state"

I'm just waiting for the F-15E updates, like the Terrain Following Radar, as it is the DCS module that I'm currently Flying ... any other updates will be just icing on the cake  🙂

The TFR will be good fun for sure. A few more weapons for the pylons will also be welcome.

JDAMs have teased a few times, so I imagine they'll probably be on the list.

I dont expect new weapons, the intended changelog for the Strike Eagle is:

Added: TFR

Added: modifiable steerpoint MEA in UFC and Mission Editor

Added: Delete steerpoint by selecting "0" steerpoint on UFC

Added: INS based wind estimation

Added: Any waypoint (Routes A/B/C, offsets, base, bullseyes, avoidance, mark, list) can be added in ME

Added: List points can be bound to steer points

Fixed: markpoints starting at M0

Fixed: active route display on A/G radar map

Fixed: bug where TWS freezes the radar in presence of AoJ returns

Fixed: TWS struggling to convert a HoJ track into full track in some cases

Fixed: Pressing PB1 on SP edit page past last route point

Fixed: Blank steerpoint (zero coordinates) showing on maps and selectable on sensors

Fixed: TSD route switching

Fixed: ASL wrong with INS drift

Adjusted: INS drift rate

Improved: BOT aiming

Fixed: WSO LANTIRN TGP HOTAS

Fixed: RWR Volume control not working

Fixed: A/A TACAN distance readout shows two decimals (X.XX)

Fixed: Missing hyphen in HUD bullseye

Fixed: HSI ground track diamond is cyan, not amber on the MPCD

Updated: ILS volume set to OFF at mission start

Even so, I'm happy with thr changes

They would be very welcome. And I definitely want the GBU-28.

It would be nice for 2.9 to close out some of the longstanding AI model developments, SC updates which have been in the works as well for many years, some improvement to the ground war AI and animations wouldn't go a miss either now we have good attack helicopters in the game, also some core updates to gameplay would be most welcome.

I'm assuming you mean MT (multithreading). Honestly I don't think there is much difference between the bugs in MT vs St at this point. Not enough difference to maintain two cores anyway.

While we haven't had much MT patches, it's likely they were saved/tested for a bigger patch release.

Really hoping at minimum we get the new AI models.

Yeah, many of them have been teased for quite a while now.

HB did plan to have the AI A-6E (& KA-6D?) out this summer, so hopefully they'll make 2.9.

I thought the F4 would have to be released first before the A6 AI would come.

Maybe we'll get them together?

The only other thing I'll say is that the AI A-6E was announced just over 5 years ago, the Phantom wasn't teased until a little under 2 years ago and wasn't formerly announced until early last year. Meanwhile the AI A-6E, was shown off in game just under a year prior (just so people are aware of it, I did bring this up on hoggit, to which this was Cobra's reply, if anyone is interested in reading it).

Now don't get me wrong, I don't really have any preference for what I'd like to see first, just that the AI A-6E, at least superficially, looked to be closer to release compared to the F-4E (though I assume the latter has priority, I am aware that the A-6E is last in line for HB to deliver, out of their currently announced projects). In any case, they're both occupying close to my top spot for what I'm most excited to see in the near future and I'm completely confident they'll both be incredible once they get released.

I don't expect anything new linked to the modules.
Some new improvments linked to MT, Vulkan and other things linked to DCS hardcore is more than welcome.
However, the resolution of various and multiple bugs that already exist, some of which have been mentioned for several months, is a real hope. 😉

I'm just hyped for the F1BE, but I'm special anyways.

I haven't bought that plane, not much of a Mirage fan, but they certainly seem to be be giving people their money's worth.

Now I know we're not getting 2.9 today, but I hope we get 2.9 today. Love to see the new AI models for the B-1B and the B-52.
