It doesn't matter what ED does. Some complain that they miss a date and act as if the world is now coming to an end and when a module is released on time, others complain that it was far too early, that too many systems are missing and have too many bugs and shouldn't have been released and therefore the world is now practically coming to an end because of it...

To be honest, recently I've started to envy those people. What would I give so that the biggest issue in my life is a moved date for a video game product release...

I'm still waiting for my Steam preorder. I guess this will happen when they nail the date down.

That's exactly how it is. You can only pre-order on Steam once a release date has been set.

Leave ED in piece, and let them do their work! None of us can do anything to speed it up, or what ever. Mig-29 will be ready when ED will decide it. And I hope they take the time needed, so we get a decent module from the start.

It's a mystery to me how you can get so angry about a rough release date. It's not about something important in life, it's just a game that also offers tonnes of alternatives and possibilities.

I understand that people are looking forward to module XYZ, but if it comes out 1 or 2 (or even more) months later than expected, so what... I really don't understand the problem. Nothing in life depends on the release date of a module in DCS.

And don't come at me with "but ED said that..."

Who said I was angry? Wasn't me, your interpretation of what counts as anger needs some adjusting bud. Here I'm just pointing out that when a release is planned around a certain time frame that with ED expect it to be much much later than that and you'll never be disappointed. I just don't like being led on and learned to set my expectations of timing really low. Hence why I'm not angry as you seem to think I am. What does make me angry is when people try to disseminate something as superfluous as my emotional state off of incomplete information.

You weren't meant specifically. It was more directed at the general community.

I for one learned my lesson the last 15 months or so: I take anything ED says with a truckload of salt (at best), about anything.

Things get a lot easier that way 🤷‍♀️

'Undercommit and overdeliver' was my maxime during my professional carreer.

Unfortunately it's not the paved path to maximized commercial success. Sometimes you need to cut corners to commercially survive - unfortunately😉

I've been disconnected from the MiG29 for a few days. From what I read ED did not present the MiG29 at the Expo, but gave a copy to Winwing for them to present their new hardware. Is it correct?

ED did represent the MiG-29A at the Expo on the winwing stand, Nineline was there showing it off and some lucky people got to try it out.

Mmm, not this time. "release in Q2 2025"

I don't see that as a promise, just a statement of intent/fact:

"our dedicated team has been working diligently for a release in Q2 2025"

& they were, and it didn't work out.

They were working hard for a target release date, they weren't finished in time.

Yes, we can see they didn't finish and there was target release date. Just a statement of facts. Nothing more, nothing less.

Exactly. Reading skills are not exactly well developed for many people here on the forum 😉

I feel like it's just one of those things that always happens, which is why I understand when developers default to the usual response of "It's done when it's done.

Hell, thinking back to the original Il-2 forums where "Two weeks, be sure" was the running gag anytime someone was curious about a release date for a product or patch.

Too many people see "We hope to release by x" and think "Oh, cool. They're promising me that it's going to be in my hands on x date!" instead of realizing it's a goal in the world of flight sim development where unexpected issues or changes can easily derail your entire plan.

The FAQ was very clear:

Quote

When will the module be released?
DCS: MiG-29A is planned for early access release in 2025. We will provide a more specific date once it is closer to early access complete and carefully tested.

Q1 or Q2 was only a "plan" no a promise.

Considering past "high profile" (for lack of a better term) modules have taken well over 12 months to release from their announcement, a 2024 release of the Fulcrum would be highly optimistic.

FWIW...Just a little morsel of trend data in regards to a release date:

The CH-47 was available for preorder in April of last year, released in August,
Apache preorders stared in October of 2021, and released in March 2022,
The Hind was March 2021 with a release in June of that year,
And the F-16 was available for preorder July 2019, released in October.

For all of these modules the span from pre-order to release was about 3-5 months.

I expect no different for the Fulcrum. So I would keep the pitchforks stowed until November.
