I've used nothing but the Oculus Quest 2 since joining DCS. I won't use anything else honestly. I don't experience a lot of the problems others report having whether using VR for DCS or outside of DCS.

Quest3 will give you much better visual especially the bigger sweet spot, without new issues. I compared against to my friend ‘s Quest2.

I can only afford a quest 3.

Then go for it. 🙂 it’s a safe choice. Crystal light should be also a great choice which is not an expensive device as long as you got a high performance PC.

Dell Visor WMR headset (1440x1440 per eye) as stated in my signature.

DCS Wishlist: 2K11 Krug SA-4 Ganef SAM, VR-TrackIR icons next to player names in score-chart

PvP: 100+ manual player-kills with Stingers on a well known dynamic campaign server - 100+ VTOL FARP landings & 125+ hours AV-8B, F-14 crew, royal dutch airforce F-16C - PvP campaigns since 2013

DCS server-admins: please adhere to a common sense gaming industry policy as most server admins throughout the industry do. (After all there's enough hostility on the internet already which really doesn't help anyone. Thanks.)

Dell Visor VR headset, Ryzen 5 5600 (6C/12T), RTX 2060 - basic DCS-community rule-of-thumb: Don't believe bad things that a PvP pilot claims about another PvP pilot without having analyzed the existing evidence

Let us know what VR set you use for DCS!

This means all headsets that are still used will continue to receive (SteamVR) support by ED, correct? (Like WMR headsets like Dell Visor)

At a guess the most used will be supported more so than others But that is just a guess.

Just a guess, but I think this has more to do with adjusting/tuning the “spotting dots” and spotting in general since the user experience seems to vary a lot based on the HMD.

DCS supports OpenXR runtimes and not specific headsets. So, as long as your headset has an OpenXR runtime for it then you should be all good.

HP Reverb G2.

Pimax Crystal light will probably be my next headset but it will also require a new complete PC purchase as well, so it is taking time to save the money required.

HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), DLSS setting is quality at 1.0. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC... Everything needs upgrading in this system!.

Vaicom user and what a superb freebie it is! Virpil Mongoose T50M3 base & Mongoose CM2 Grip (not set for dead stick), Virpil TCS collective with counterbalance kit (woof woof). Virpil Apache Grip (OMG). MFG pedals with damper upgrade. Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound... goodbye VRS.

I have, and really like, the BigScreen Beyond, which gets little love among DCS VR users. Like every other current headset BsB requires accepting some compromises, but it   is worth considering. Advantages: small form factor, very lightweight, pancake lenses with high res video, native OpenXR, effortless setup, good audio solution with the upgraded headstrap, custom comfortable face gasket, outstanding user support, and excellent tracking with base stations. Detractors point to: high cost, restricted FOV, smallish sweet spot, lens glare (which I find disappears in DCS).

I am currently running the Valve Index.  I love it.  I have a low rez monitor plugged into the motherboard DP so Windows and 2D run on the Intel UHD750 on my i7 11gen, and my 3080ti drives the Valve Index.  This setup works perfectly on all my sims.

I have used my current Pimax 5k+ for over 5 years.  However, 5k+ is not on the above list so I ticked the 5k option.

I plan to replace my VR headset next year and am looking at the Somnium vr 1 or the Varjo XR-4.

Happy landings,

Talisman

So far the result is quite interesting for me. On average every second DCS user uses Oculus (almost 40%), I was surprised by such a high result of HP users, it is still 2nd place with 20%, Pimax is in third with a result of almost 19%. By taking care of these three groups the problem of "big box dot" in terms of visibility should be solved in most situations (77% of users till now according surveys to the current date).

The next statistic should be a comparison of the share in resolution baskets. Following this path, for example, Quest 3 and Reverb, Pico 4 will give 43% of users (generally it's even more important than the company). I will do this but on another occasion, maybe at the end of the survey.

Quest Pro is my choice. If you have a mid to low end system it's great. Eye tracking makes a big difference on GPU performance with a moderate CPU. And you can get one for the same price as a Q3 if you look around. I got mine 2nd hand in new condition for £300.

We need a Q3 equivalent with eye tracking at a reasonable price.

Would be great to see settings comparisons too for the various units 🙂
