Development progress

From the Airplane Simulation Company:

What’s already done
Over the past year(s), we’ve completed the core flight-model, engine, APU, electrical, hydraulic, fuel systems, and avionic systems. The cargo bay is fully walkable in VR and flatscreen, with rigged physics for CDS bundles, and the GBU-43/B MOAB. Network-synchronised multi-crew is fully implemented for two players.

What we’re still doing
As we approach release, key focus points for the team include finalization of audio effects in the cargo bay, damage modeling, Levels Of Detail (LODs), integration of a 3rd multicrew slot, and the completion of a vehicle airdrop system in partnership with Eagle Dynamics. We’re also tuning parachute deployment mechanics, including introducing extraction chutes for heavy equipment airdrops, and physically simulated static lines.  

Post Early Access Launch
Once the C-130J-30 is released, our focus will turn to the MC-130J. This variant, operated by AFSOC, brings aerial refueling capabilities, including player-to-player AAR in multiplayer. The MC variant also includes the AN/AAS-52(V) EO-IR pod, and a third crew station for the CSO, or combat systems officer.

I'd love to pre-order this bird, but first I'd like to know if it will have its 3d shapes encrypted or not. Would I be able to load its cockpit shape on the Model Viewer 2? I had to pass on the MiG-29 because of this, but maybe this bird is different since its by a third party?

This bird looks nice and promising! But hardly I have to say "no" to any purchase from a3rd party developer after the second loss of developer (first VEAO, now Razbam). A purchase would be a too big uncertainty for the future. Sorry, but ED crashed their loyalty in that for me!

I understand your concerns, but I can say that ASC has worked very well with us to ensure that safeguards are in place to ensure support no matter of most any unforseeable issues. But I totally understand the desire to tread carefully.

I've got my Steam wallet loaded up for this. Just have to wait now. Probably going to be a Top 3 module for me right away.

 

I spend a lot of time in DCS just flying for fun, and this will take it to the next level. I pop into the civy sim sometimes, spend ten-minutes, be unamused, and then get right back into DCS just to fly around and enjoy the planes. With the C-130 the deal is sealed. One sim fits all.

I can perfectly understand being a bit wary about buying DCS modules right now, really. But it'd be a lie to say I wasn't interested in the C-130. Exciting news indeed.

Can't wait, this will be a really game changer in DCS Ecosystem IMHO.
For sure we'll release a new multiplayer server that will leverage a lot on C-130J capabilities to move on the campaing across the map.

For all the people worried about not buying module on third parties store, a really surprising fact, is that you'll receive immidiatly on purchase the code to redeem on DCS website, so as soon as it will be released, you'll have it! 

Times to times, when using external website, before obtain DCS code some times will elapse, not the case! I'm super happy about that!

I really want this bird but the lack of new infantry models, not being able to see them in the cargo bay, and no animations for embarking and disembarking makes me want to wait. May seem petty but that's what I'm looking forward to. I know this is an ED wish list feature and not ASC related. I should've waited to purchase the Hook so I learned my lesson. If I could, I would refund the Hook and get Herc.

The very same one
