Indeed it would be nice to have a brand new year 2010 jet, modeled to DCS standards. Yet just the performance details and specs for just the flight model are usually secret and not publicly available. When it comes to avionics and weapon systems it gets worse. So an F-35 may be "looking" like an F-35 in Sim, but it is highly unlikely it performs or handles like in real life or that the systems can be modeled to DCS standards... We may get a FC3 level SFM with a mockup weapons/systems model, but at least for myself, it won't be tempting me unless it gets at least an AFM/EFM to at least handle like a realistic F-35. Only the real pilots and engineers/designers know how the planes actually perform in real life. So F/A-18E or F-35 just make a good sim to play I say. They both have highly classified systems and it's never going to be 100% accurate. Ed

Why would you want a jet in a game that we know nothing about how it's systems work? No one knows how it will do in actual combat or it's combat loadout's/what can it carry? At least with the other jets you mentioned, we know a little bit about them. shagrat Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 DCS always was about "accurate" simulation. The 90% plus approach. What an F-35 could offer is a 50% approach, if even that. Even most of the glass screens displays would be pure speculation... So why not speculate about the performance of an X-Wing and make that as well? There was this guy who wanted to do a "F-35" for DCS as 3rd party. He asked on the forums what the people think... though I disliked the overall attitude and insulting tone of the feedback, it made something pretty clear: very few people would have wanted a wild guess of a plane to pseudo DCS standards. I'm sure even the A-10C is not 100% but it goes a long way to make an "as accurate as possible" approach... That is what most people expect from DCS. If somebody wants to do an F-35, go ahead, get a license, get clearance from the USAF and Pentagon, go for a third party contract and see how many people finally buy it. See it as an adventure... I wouldn't mind something like Flaming Cliffs 4 with some more modern planes, F-35 is a bit out there for now just an idea, but Super Hornet, Typhoon, Rafale, Su-35 would be great to have in the game. And would add a new dimension IMO. I like the A-10C type sim but I also like a more relaxed fun type sim, but still with good flight models and realistic weapons. My 2c. Ed

With some tweaks to the flight model. I'm very curious how they handle things like PIRATE, DASS, etc. High hopes, as they are working close with the UK air force, still many things highly classified sure won't make it into the Sim I fear... But a plane that have got its first operational Block version last year? I wonder if that's possible...
