Don't worry, there are plenty more switches left yet. Doing one thing might take a lot fewer switch actions than in the Ka-50, but there are a lot more things you can do. Just wait until you get into the MFCD sub menus, nav systems and weapon functions. Your brain will be melting in no time.

If you want to start studying now, grab yourself the A-10A flight manual, most of the systems are similar to the C model and the electrical, fuel, hyd & engine systems are the same.

Spoiler

Intel 13900K (5Ghz), 64Gb 6400Mhz, MSi RTX 3090, Schiit Modi/Magi DAC/AMP, ASUS PG43UQ, Hotas Warthog, RealSimulator FSSB3, 2x TM MFDs + DCS MFDs, MFG Crosswinds, Elgato Steamdeck XL

Flight performance and limitations should also be as per that manual, IIRC.

By the way wags, if it isn't too much trouble could you give me some kind of idea as to when the 3rd note should be ready? Just so I could know when to look, and can stop F5'ing before I get Carpal Tenal? ;)

I can't recall where I read this, but one of the "cons" of the Ka-50 (when compared to the Mi-28, IIRC) was the lengthy start-up procedure, which limited how fast it could be deployed on short notice.

With the A-10C being a more modern(ized) aircraft, I guess it makes sense they tried to make the pilot's life easier - the fact that you start the engines by moving the corresponding throttle out of its lowest detent instead of pressing a button, in particular, stands out to me as a user-friendliness thing (unless there's a technical reason for it, but I wouldn't know).

So the turbine is visualy confirmed to be turning from the pilots seat at 2:22 heh? :D

Those are the fans. :smartass:

Turbines are at the back of the engine. :)

If I recall the TF34 right, the fan and turbine are on the same shaft, meaning if one is turning the other is as well.

Though the schematics I have aren't really detailed enough to be sure.

I don't think so, usually turbofan have two shaft, one for the hi-pres compressor and another to move the fan blades (which have to spin slower, because the bigger diameter), so it depends of what turbine are you talking about (hi press or lo press)

Regards!!

Nope they are definately two stage, wouldn't make any sense to put turbine and fan rpm gauges in the pit if it was not, eh?

Although if i recall correctly from what my uncle (an aircraft mech turned commercial pilot) told me once, fan spooling up is a visual cue that the engine has lit.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

It has to be turning, single or twin spooled. Otherwise the compressor wouldnt work, basicaly the engine wouldnt even start. :)

Most enjoyable and the cockpit is looking fantastic!

1 question though, could anyone explain why its all tied together with a bit of string?

Budgets cuts perhaps?

Thanks for keeping the startup cheat key as you did with the KA50, without it, it will take me weeks to be able to startup. I'm still using that for the KA50. To many buttons, not enought time to learn... However I do want to learn, so one day at the time.

Cheers
