bumfire Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 We dont needs binos, we already have the zoom feature, which for all intents purposes would work as binos ingame. As for the other thing, I have no clue, but I spose it would be a good idea, maybe a mission to save a downed airman, we have to find him first and then protect him from troops that are closing in, until jolly green can get on scene and pick him up.
slug88 Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I think not as each laser has its own desig code. The soldier on the ground will have to comm with the pilot and tell him the code he is using so that the pilot can program this into the kit. I havent read anywhere that this has been modelled but I could well be wrong. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=2452&scr=default&lang=en#p25 Depending on the JTAC location to enemy forces and the time of day, JTAC target designation can be by sending UTM coordinates, laser designation, mortar smoke marker, or IR pointer. Kuky Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Kuky, can you please point me in the direction of the value to edit? That's the thing... unlike being able to change distances in normal view you cannot change it for the Shkval/Maverick screen. You can change the distance at which terrain textures and roads/rivers load (this is in Graphics.cfg the MFD LOD values), but not for objects. W.I.P. To elaborate before it is assumed that the answer 'WIP' as above is actually an affirmation: It's not :) AI development as stated in numerous threads is receiving a makeover. Whether it will encompass the above or not cannot be answered at this stage as things are changing daily.......Where one thing is introduced the possibility exists of another being broken etc etc. To adequately address the question thus: Cannot be pinned down and not known for sure by this stage of development. Rambler91 Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 This may be a silly question, but would it be possible to play MP3 song in game? I mean, if radio in cockpit is set to specific frequency (or channel), the game would play songs form our hard drives (not entire, just specific game-related folder).. It would be cool to blow stuf up while listening "Rocket Man".. (or other adrenaline pump :) ) There's nothing friendly about "friendly fire" ---------------------------------------------------------------- A cigarette is a pinch of tobacco, wrapped in paper, fire at one end, fool at the other. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Duct tape is like the force. Maybe it will return with A-10. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

Bucic Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Knowing that Warthog will feature radio chatter of other units if radio is properly tuned here's a related question - will we get at least half of the Falcon 4 AF ATC functionality? I F4 it's like when you approach ATC controlled space you are simply being 'taken over' and have to obey orders from ATC, just like in real life If you won't you are being reprimanded and it lowers your mission score. All of ATC operations including taxiing are tied by strict discipline. Again - like in real life. The functionality I describe is present on sim market for 10 years. Don't you think it's about time for ED to step up? :music_whistling: F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
Rambler91 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) Try Battlefield: Vietnam, take Huey or AH-1 Cobra, and put some music on (in game).. Then switch it off, alnd play on stereo system (or mobile phone).. It isn't same, right.. No offense, just putting my side of arguments...;) Oh, would we able to use AIM-9X Sidewinder in DCS: A-10C ? I mean, those missiles are mean little peckers.. :megalol: Edited September 11, 2010 by Rambler91 There's nothing friendly about "friendly fire" ---------------------------------------------------------------- A cigarette is a pinch of tobacco, wrapped in paper, fire at one end, fool at the other. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Duct tape is like the force. sweinhart3 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 AIM-9 will be in DCS:A-10C. Dunno how good it is but as far as Im concerned with what Ive seen in the FC2 version, its mostly a joke. sweinhart3 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I know Sobek. Not trying to imply they are. I just think the current iteration portraid in FC2 needs a lot of improvement if it is to be used in DCS as an effective weapon. HiJack Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Is the reload selections done the same way and with just a short list of munitions as in FC2? Or will it be possible to make selections for each pylon every time you rearm? That is the way it should have been done in FC2 I think and I hope it is in DCS A-10C :) (HJ)
Opoch Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I have a feeling I know the answer to this, but.... what about trees? Just like Black Shark I assume? Can we turn them off in the options if they have no function, or do I still have to edit the config files using regular notpad? :D also will we see the vehicles that inhabit the airbases change depending on what faction controls them?
Bucic Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 (edited) edit the config files using regular notpad? The config files are not to be edited by a regular Notepad (at least not LUA files). Use Notepad++ instead. Just a reminder. Out. chaos Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I've been sight-seeing on Google-Earth trying to cross-reference all of the airports with the ones that are currently in the game. I noticed that some (seemingly active-) bases are not featured in the map-screenshot and vice-versa. Some bases in the game have actually been turned into farmfields or housing projects according to the satellite-pics. What is ED's reasoning for doing so? Is it purely for game-play reasons or are there other considerations? "It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage..."
HitchHikingFlatlander Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I think the map is based off the Soviet era (not sure really). I've noticed some of that as well, some airfields are civilian now or have half the base plowed over. In some cases you can see the weeds growing through the tarmac! I'd imagine there are quite a few bases not there because of the fact they'd only service small light aircraft with no runway capacity for a larger combat A/C. All just guesses though! http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad

Speed Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Considering DCS's unfortunate multiplayer setup of no good briefing screen, no debriefing screen, and being able to join a flight at any time, I was wondering of any of those are being addressed in A-10C? If not, how will time over target be handled in regards to waypoints when you can just join the aircraft at any point in the mission? IMO, DCS REALLY needs the Falcon 4 model of set take off times and AI that fly the aircraft if no humans are in it.
