Seems that the vast majority have had nothing but good to say about the two images, but a few decide to run their mouths and suddenly it is everyone complaining and why ED should never publish updates? WTF people.

No, no one said they should not publish updates, what was SAID is that if you consider the complaints made by folks it can certainly be UNDERSTANDABLE why they might limit the updates they provide..

Since I seem to have to explain what I thought was quite obvious, the statement was made as an explanation so that folks would THINK before they posted rather than post complaints out of reflex..

I for one have always appreciated the updates provided by ED and the 3rd party devs and am rather tired of the nitpicking complaints that have limited the frequency of our updates..

But apparently it does not seem to matter how many times this issue is pointed out to folks they still manage to shoot down any and every update provided.. (And then WHINE that there is no communication)

Quite pathetic actually..

Correct. Might I suggest that spending so much time rebutting critics' comments is perhaps amplifying the perception of unhappiness with these particular screenshots?

Clever trolling masquerading as reasonable, well-intentioned criticism is still trolling.

It seems it all started with my posts, TooTall.

I feel ashamed that it all came off as whining and complaining, quite an opposite of what I tried to communicate.

I never should have taken discussion in that direction.

If I thought better before writing, I probably would not post it.

Wasn't directed at you Outlaw, there have been some in the past who have said ED should keep quiet because of these type of people, and some seem to be trending that way here. The simple fact is that the trolls will always exist, there isn't anyway to get away from that. There will always be haters and always those who are never happy with anything. I don't feel it is understandable for ED to limit their news to the rest of us just because of the bad eggs who lack a filter.

The idea of always punishing a majority for the actions of a minority to me is unoriginal thinking at best and never solves the underlying issue. Instead it let's the trolls feel smug that they not only get under ED's skin, but that they can cause the rest of us to suffer for their lack of manners. So I would certainly hope that ED would be above letting the trolls get to them.

Even if you made something "perfect" people would still complain about it.

And they REALLY complain about it when they have a couple hundred thousand miles of network cable between them and the creator.

Everyone has an opinion... and they're entitled to it... but man- I see so much pepper being picked out of fly sh1t in here it's unbelievable.

I'm amazed some of these folks find time to fly or why they even bother if they think it sucks so bad.

And on topic (since Sith is applying the brakes) I am looking forward to seeing some WIP screens of the renderer working in tandem with the new map.

LOL alright I think we beat that dead horse into oblivion! (And yes I am aware that I am the guy with the club in hand)

So let's get back to the topic at hand and I will start out by saying THANKS to WAGS for the pics that he did provide.. And we will all try to behave moving forward as NONE of us what SITH to stop the car and pull over!

Indeed, Sith will use the ring hand and I'd like to avoid that. Not to mention that us turning on each other who are in agreement really doesn't help the issue, we should be joining forces.

As an example, I have removed my comments towards Cornbeard. I interpreted his comments as an attack against me, and upon re-reading his post I have realized I made a grave error (and I just saw his PM pop up about the misunderstanding as I type this). I sincerely apologize to you publicly Cornbeard, maybe it was the lack of caffeine and staring too long at spreadsheets and CAD drawings, but there was no excuse for me pulling the trigger and I should have reread your post first. Again my apologies brother.

So back to the topic - exciting pics and looking forward to EDGE release.

ED has posted some images a couple of days ago now, even though the cut-off of the cloud cover is visible (i. e. potentially something to nitpick). It´s still WIP and if they feel confident enough at this point to show something to us under these circumstances, I´m guessing it won´t be too long until we are going to see much more and much more sophisticated stuff. Thanks indeed for that and I´m looking forward to it.

Cut off of the cloud cover?

how about it's a low cloud cover and the mountains poke up through them.

what is so special or amazing about these pics??

After reading your later response and apology and how we thought you were trolling (And I am sure now that you were not) I went back and re-read your post with the point of view of someone who has never been here before and now I think you were asking a legitimate question and we gravely misunderstood what you were asking...

If you were asking "How is it that with just 2 simple photos, folks can discern so many details?" IF that was what you were trying to ask, then the answer is that many of the folks on this forum are extremely knowledgeable about aircraft, others about computers, programming you name it... The programmers in the bunch can look at those 2 seemingly insignificant pics and can pick out details that speak VOLUMES about EDGE and where the new engine is heading.. (For example there are some effects that are being shown that can only be replicated using DX11. The current engine only utilizes DX9 and is quite a bit behind the times... EDGE will boast DX11.. )

The aircraft experts will look at those pics and see a Russion bird of some sort (I am not a Russsian bird expert so I have no idea but I can guarantee folks will pipe up and let us know shortly!) They will also point out the very crisp cockpit and how awesome the lighting is...

Finally, several posts have been added regarding the curvature of the earth that is demonstrated in one of the pics.. This has been a die hard fan issue for some time and once again points out that EDGE is addressing some of the long time questions / issues folks have had..

So with that in mind I apologize if I misread your comment and shot down a legitimate question... We are used to some folks trolling and unfortunately are quite sensitive to it.

I hope this does not discourage you from posting in the future... We really do appreciate opinions and questions...

Look closer. This has already been discussed, but obviously it is a WIP, so such things are to be expected.

It's not exactly a straight edge, which makes me think it's something else. ie Coast Line, Weather Front, etc

Could be both. I´d be happy if it is confirmed that the cloud covers can now have such fronts.

It's a bug - an old one. Mustang has a fix for it IIRC.

Okay, so then it's a Georgia map issue and not an EDGE issue. Makes sense, ED did say that Georgia map wouldn't be getting all the benefits of EDGE (although it still looks pretty good despite that). Would really like to see this same screenshot setup using the Nevada map.
