    • 599$ did not faze you, and YOU PRE-ORDER IT!
    • 599$ puts me into bankrupcy - I will not spend that kind of money - WILL NOT BUY
    • on the fence, will BUY LATER (at retail launch)

I actually have a another agenda...the Rift can be used to help with amblyopia/strabismus. Playing DCS is just the cherry on top.

Ordered my DK2 just now. Oh.the web page wasn't rendering right for me at the end. I checked the checkbox and hit ENTER (I only saw EDIT ORDER). And the order went through just fine. shipping charge was $22 USD.

Can't wait to check out the improved graphics capability. And to be honest, I wanted them to have the order for further development. Same reason why I buy DCS modules, so they can be profitable and make money!

did you guys pay taxes on it?

They did not list any charge for taxes on my attempted order. That will come back to bite them.

I think one guy complained because shipping was $55 and Taxes was $75, lol.

I am just very tight when it comes to spending money lol

also the guys who ordered from the uk, do you have to consider import duty or is that factored into the shipping / tax charge?

(sorry if this is a duplicate) Why would it come back to bite them? It's on the *buyer* to file local state taxes when filing. If Oculus has no physical presence, they can't be compelled to charge state taxes. At least until the law changes in the US.

TBH, once I hear back from a few people, if DK2 is good enough, I'll prolly order one now and not wait for the Consumer version .

I know it works with pretty much every sim I Run (DCS, iRacing, ArmAIII) etc

And is supported by Star Citizen, and DayZ

Does it work with DCS without hacks? Or do you need some kind of 3rd party software at the moment to use it with DCS?

You can mod DCS for it to work, I'm hopin' that the "Oculus integration" that Wags showed off would be done before July,

I'm assuming that it is factored in, it certainly states VAT - $77 on my receipt. Which is all the import duty is.

Ordered as well.

Regarding VAT. My last order was shipped to me from the UK so I had no import charges. I guess oculus are passing on the EU import duty to the consumer and then shipping to the consumer from within the EU so we don't pay twice.

Well they are based in the US and if they aren't located in Virginia then you won't have to pay sales tax unless your state has a law for that. Usually the only time you will pay tax for an online company would be if they are located in the state in which you reside.

Edit.

Really thinking of getting it. How hard is it to have it work with DCS? Can anyone supply documentation please?

Anything shipped from outside of the UK is bound for customs landing duties and the dreaded VAT, but only if the country of origin is not part of the EU.

So anything state side is VATable along with customs duty's.

There are ways around the VAT and duty's you just have to be in the know like for example FedEx are by all accounts in breach of duty's in the UK, on their invoice it will come under the heading admin fees which they are clearly not admin fees, they are taking it calling it something else and not declaring it themselves.

There are others doing the same and there are other ways around it to.

Eagles may soar high but weasel's don't get sucked into jet engines.

Thanks, just saw that in an article. They also mentioned the consumer version already has a prototype and is vastly better than the DK2. May wait for the final. Really can't wait for this though!

I have the DK1 and as badly as I want to get DK2 I'm going to pass. Like most of you I have been following Oculus since the beginning. I think I predicted somewhere on these forums that we would see DK2 in June/July and that they would be backlogged from hell on orders. So realistically I'm thinking most of you wont receive them until Sept/Oct and I'm thinking CV1 comes out in November. You heard it here first lol.

How much better is what I want to know,

Dk2 has everything I need,

If CV has Earphones, Extra USB Ports, etc etc etc, I dont need that stuff.

unless its a better screen, then It's pointless to me.

I also have to dig for my DVI->HDMI Adapter, since I use all DisplayPorts for my screens.

meh, I got til July.

I dont know if they will have a better screen but I do know that DK2 is 75hz while the minimum for CV1 is supposed to be 90 or higher.
