DCS CONTINUED NTTR MAP DEVELOPEMENT PLEASE

As instructed by Moderation after reading this thread…….. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3132001

It is my wish for continued development on Nevada NTTR MAP.

I don’t own the Nevada NTTR MAP and have postponed purchasing it and glad I have. Due to the many Forum Threads in past discussions that there will be more added as a final release as efforts are concentrated in developing DCS WORLD.

People in past thread discussions made complaints that the MAP is not complete lacking airbases and training ranges, also Las Vegas lacked overall detail and that Model texturing would get more work done and terrain as well.

To say now NTTR is finished is very disappointing for an aviation and air combat simulation, just by reading that in the thread above and I was hoping for Tonopah and Fallon Training Ranges as a combat sim plus added air bases so on.

What NTTR incorporates:-

Because what is meant by:-

The entire NTTR airspace as well as indication of all sub-ranges.

DCS Front Page Reference:- https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/terrains/nttr_terrain/

I was hoping for great simulation operations in REDFLAG and Training Range Skills sharpening that really puts purpose as an aviation and air combat sim.

Also considering the up and coming release of a DCS-F-18C combined with A-10C level of operational tactics that one could employ into sim with a complete detail MAP as described in my post here.

Gosh, I'm even hoping for a Miramar "TOPGUN" map location one day and now I read this.

So this news is very much a disappointment and needs reconsideration for further development, very disappointed though.

I guess we will have to wait for MAP creation Tools to be released for 3rd Party MAP development and “Community Modding” to get more in MAPS and mods added to the sim.

Tonopah is actually included in the DCS NTTR map. Check out this video for some of the content that was added after the initial release of NTTR:

While I agree that Miramar would be cool, that's unlikely to be a free extension of the NTTR map since it would need to include representations of the very large cities of Los Angeles and San Diego.

SAD - NOT AIR COMBAT SIMULATION ANYMORE

Tonopah Bombing Training Range Marked "Targets and Objects" ?

Not just the air fields, yeah thats nice but now what do I do with my A-10C and F-18C if you get the meaning.

And Fallon should be included c'mon its air combat simulation etc

Look, I don't own a copy to go in a check and now I'm not inspired to do so considering the past Forum Discussions on NTTR that I read very carefully as a potential buyer so now that there is no more development on such an important historical USA MAP, its discouraging to read, at least for me as I was keen on it.

So still disappointed, it needs to be ....."Left Open"..... for continued future development not say its finished, better to make statements that encourage "Development of MAPS"?

Aggh, say no more.

Works for me...

You are being too literal with your reading anyways. DCS is a sandbox, ED might label NTTR complete, and it is feature complete. That doesnt mean that something comes up and brings new development to an older module.

Anyways, this is a map wishlist for NEW maps, not addons to current maps.

What if an actual 3rd party company that makes maps and environments for sims like FSX, start making maps for DCS? ORBX comes to mind

My two cents:

Kuril Islands (remember Janes USNF 97?) What with the AV-8B getting closer, this classic theatre could be brought back to life. A lot of sea, and not that much land mass to map. Could be a feasible project and reasonably fast to realize.

Southern Italy + North Africa (Libya)

Preferably 60's map, but could used for later scenarios or even ealier scenarios...

North Vietnam (+ Da Nang) + Thailand... no brainer

Fictional Desert map, bit like the one we have in SF2, with two opposing fictional countries respectively supported by NATO and Soviets...

Are you aware that there is a Strait of Hormuz map under development? Kind of negates the need for your desert map, wouldn't you agree?

What happened in Southern Italy/Libya in the 60s?

I am also at a loss to think what relevance Kuril Island might have apart from being in a different game. Might I suggest the Korean peninsula, South China Seas and the Baltic for potential future conflict zones, or maybe the Balkans for recent past with Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia where shots were fired?

And with the Vietnam map, why not Cambodia and Laos instead of Thailand?

Not really... the Strait of Hormuz is a modern day map. I'd prefer a map that is not necessarily era-specific. It opens up a lot more possibilities.

Not much, but we can make a lot happen in DCS. Plenty of fictional conflicts waiting to happen. It's a game in the end...

Kuril islands have been disputed by Russia and Japan for a long time. It's just a nice place for a fictional theatre. But of course the other regions you mention would also work nicely. In terms of maps there are plenty of ideas

And with the Vietnam map, why not Cambodia and Laos instead of Thailand?

From a gaming point of view, the North would be more interesting. More triple AAA and SAM threats, SEAD missions, escort missions etc. But we all have our preferences of course :)

Outside the major cities, the sand and sea looks no different today than it did hundreds of years ago. It's all up to the creativity of the mission designers.

There was no greater campaign that proved the mettle of the A-10 than Iraq Desert Storm. Why the heck was this not developed? Open ocean of sand and scuds along the Iraqi borders. Would be an INCREDIBLE campaign complete with the evolution of why they started using the Hog to hunt SCUDS behind enemy lines.

If someone makes a Korean War map for instance, could we get it in two versions? One in the 50's time, and one int he present time? Possibly something similar could be done to other maps depending

Surely this would be dead easy. Possibly a nice freebie ED?

Hmmm, if I were to do an open Ocean map I'd probably do it with similar style to SF2:NA which had the North Atlantic as a map, the only landmass being Iceland, could something like this, maybe encompassing the Faroe islands be an idea? [Large open ocean with smaller island landmasses] I wonder if such a map could be a testbed for proper a underwater and sea-bed, so that submarines, ASW and submerged weapons can now properly be a thing?

Nope, I really did mean only water. No landmass at all.

Still gives the opportunity for carrier based activities and helicopters.

More to the point, I'm guessing that it would require virtually next to no work, and therefore might even be free.

Photo realistic Scotland, then I wouldnt have to fly FSX ever again for my real world practice :-) oh and a wee GA prop, Cessna 172,152 or even a Europa as they’re what I fly. Not a big ask ha ha . Love this sim, Nevada looks great 2.2. Looking forward to buzzing the Burj in the Hornet though. New map and new plane, how am I going to slip that past my wife! Come on 2.5 !!!
