Sorry if this is a stupid question but is there a reason why we cant download the update file by torrent instead of having to either do an auto-update or download the whole world and modules?

 

Great question. Could be because of the different modules that people have? Still would be nice if you could just download the world update as the module updates aren't as large I imagine.

Autoupdater looks at your install on a per-file basis and updates everything that is old, including modules.

 

"Manual" patching would require building installers for everything and then testing them in various configurations, leading to further delays. Basically, you'd still get it faster by letting the updater work until the load on the servers decreases.

If you auto-updated, you will probably need to reset your CA controls, by deleting them from Saved Games, since your current Saved Games folder config files are now incorrect.

I ultimately decided to let the auto updater run along side the full torrent. Both would have been going for ~5 hours by the time I get home. The A10C and FC3 modules finished in no time via torrent, but the main DCS world is crawling as is the autoupdate.

Hey c0ff, does this mean that we are installing the version for each language or is this just the installer and then we would instal the version in the language we want?

 

Sounds like it would be a waste of space to instal a version of each module in multiple languages, specially for those with small SSD's, I'm just curious since i can't download it for another 7 hours.

It could also be another way to make infantry relevant without setting them to "invincible."

Edit: is it for the Huey module maybe? I haven't purchased that yet so could that be the missing 300megs?

Downloading but heard rumors that Su-27 EOS is still not working as it should, Its broken now compere to FC2, I will have to start whine about it again, It was in the bug list as well. Since there is documentation that Su-27 EOS should be able two slew vertical. Lets hope That Su-27s TWS is at least working, I don't want my radar to auto lock targets when Im scanning their attitudes ( especially in close range), Its was working in FC2 why changing it. because it makes Mig-29A more realistic?

 

The bugs mentioned above are discouraging me to fly FC3.

Sounds files are not small.

Many languages -> many sound files -> Many large files.

I keep getting a hash error and it seems that the autoupdater doesn't attempt to redownload files that fail the check and just closes (why?). Is there any way I can delete the download cache and restart the whole download operation?

Internet stalled - updater is crashed at 630Mb and don't want to continue. Now it don't even want to launch again, it search for update endlessly.
