as far as I'm concerned FSX and DCS are two very capable platforms and they are very good at what they do, I think DCS is right to stick with Mil Sim planes & FSX should stick with Civil stuff, the flight dynamics in FSX are ok for airliners but for the other stuff is crap I can do short finals so short I'm turning in over the end of the runway and the planes just settle down like on rails, I have tried the same in DCS and the flight modelling of their planes seems so much more realistic to me.

Hi thats just getin beta all the time. I'm hoping he continues with the F-35 A/B/C variants and adds high end carriers ops like VRS TACPAC and some good weapons employment. Then i'm hoping for FSX@WAR as well eventually.

So depends what you want personally, I have a mix of commercial aviation add-ons and combat + Scenery and so on FSX is huge on add-ons by community and 3rd party devs so hard to say what is your taste.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think for now I'm gonna start with the T-45C and the USS Nimitz carrier. What I'm most interested in though is better terrain mods but it looks like the big overhauls cost cash so I'll have to scrounge around for free terrain mods for individual areas that I'll fly in.

A2A Simulations F4 Phantom

 

I would like to see these guys design modules for the DCS world series. The F4 Phantom that they have not yet released would be sweet if it was converted to DCS

Although currently it looks like they only produce modules for FSX I think with enough support from the community. An e-mail could be fired off to them to review and see if converting this aircraft over to DCS would be viable to them.

Converting 3D Assets and Textures doesnt take long, but remember nothing in FSX Has a Damage Model, so they'd have to create the damaged parts and map them.

 

Outside of that, General SFM and Basic Setup for AI doesnt take that long,

 

The Time Consumption is All The Cockpit/Avionics and Radar Systems, The AFM, and Getting them both to work together.

I have already fired off an e-mail to 3 of the guys over at A2A. I wanted to see the DCS communities opinion of the phantom that A2A were working on. Would have been pointless if most members thought it heap of junk

 

Awaiting a response from A2A now to see if it would be possible or even if they are willing to accept a proposal on having this aircraft made available to this series in the same way VEAO Coretex and others have done with their aircraft

Yes they are solid quality aircraft, but as these are available in the Microsoft Flight series, hopefully there is chance these guys might also look into the DCS series as a 3rd party developer
