What type of Eagle Dynamics product do you prefer? Game or Simulation?

Reason for this post:

I don't have or use Facebook and tried to vote but not sure if it was counted, Am sure a'lot of Simmers also wont be interested in Facebook, This might not hit as many different users as Facebook would but will cover the class that don't use FB and can always be added to the total or a faction skimmed on to it.

I don't use, or ever plan to use social media. Votes in which ED would like user feedback should be conducted here not @ FB which really has nothing to do with simulation.

Sure echo what's here on FB but not the other way around.

my 2 cents

Posted

They already know what the forums want, now they're interested in the other shares of the community - less active, more casual simmers :)

We're not special snowflakes or anythign y'know, any customer has as much right to an opinion as we do - ED knows what to do with the input.

If anyone noticed though, results seem to repeat themselves on Facebook (which is probably made up of forum-users anyway - after all, 43000 of us, it's more than likely that 2000 have facebook):

-270 votes for DCS type vs. 9 votes for FC type.

In other words, preference for future DCS aircraft is 30 times bigger than for their Flaming Cliffs counterparts.

Super High Fidelity Simulation Modern Modules, not WWI, or WWII ones!

I don't even like having Game Mode ether.

So, would you please stop supporting Game Mode, it's confusing!

1) Super High Fidelity

2) Full Functional Clickable Cockpit (even Mirrors, and IFF)!

3) Cockpit Damage Model

4) Advanced Flight Model

High-Fidelity modules would not exist without FC-Fidelity modules. At the end of the day, cater to the most popular, which is FC-Fidelity. Oh yes, hasten to add that popularity cannot be objectively measured by forum feedback. Sales figures would probably be more indicative I would have thought.

Confusing? So having Game Mode is making the sim too complicated for you?

What's wrong with doing the light version first and selling it as FC addon, then starting from that, branching to full high fidelity DCS addon and selling that as well (with a little discount for those already having the light version)?

High fidelity modules (DCS A-10c or Huey,... like) with fun in the missions.

I think the mission/campaign design is really important for the fun and immersion.

(Tutos missions too.)

Do you, or do ED, have numbers? I'm interested in data, how much ED did sale (summery, FC 2/3 only, single modules only, dcs summery)! Maybe, ED have an annual report. :book:

broken record....IMO sales numbers can't be totally relied on when the only fast movers currently available are in FC3.

I won't spend my money in anything less than DCS A-10C level ACFT.

That's a good point. I know there are a few people playing Falcon BMS who would move over to DCS if only there were fighter jets to fly.

Curious that there is a third option to a similar poll on the FB page. Continuous inconsistencies.

I don't. ED obviously has, but I'm 99% sure we'll never know, nor are we entitled to them.

Fact is that the FC series has to date been the most successful, as confirmed by Matt himself:

While DCS modules have focused on a very high level of detail, we also realize that there are many (often silent) users that wish for a shallower learning curve. In fact, the Lock On / Flaming Cliffs series has been our most successful...

Why bother with a winning formula?

I voted for high fidelity it is king in DCS the holy grail, its what most of us love and crave for....

But without FC we would not have the sim we love it is the linchpin of our simulator, it gives the casual user a window of opportunity to fly and ultimately experience a high fidelity aircraft.

I have lots of friends I fly with who started with FC and moved into DCS High fidelity :)

I want DCS standard, I've even bought 3 copies of the a-10 but only use one of them, maybe stupid but I support these kind of sims my way.

i think all these addons could have their sugar free variation. sold seperatly at reduced cost.(even supporting development of the full sugar version. even as part of the popular beta program around here).

2 for 1, birds stoned that is.

as the sugar free versions come thick and fast, they could be sold via a bundle approach. at an after initial release situation that might be preferable for some.

so you would get 1. lite version. 2 dcs version, 3 lite version as part of a bundle pack, ala flaming cliffs, (a bundle pack of SFM aircraft). which is adding a further sale point to the product.

at the end of the day the work pilled into a full dcs title means to me there is no reason for a lesser version to be be ommited in reality. through this the scene could finnaly get away from the ubisoft tie and flaming cliffs.

Edit: 2 or maybe 3 selling stages for 1 product. this is ultimatly important. And this intrnsicly has a great quality assurance program built in over the evolved product development stages. we get content faster, devs get payed quicker and financial support of the development, and well this place would be buzzin, what a scene that would be.

^^^^^

Exactly.

It's not either/or. It should be both, irrespective of preference. Wanting to support one to the exclusion of the other is short-sighted, creating unnecessary division in an already small community.

I'd personally like to see a game on the DCS engine that was in line with Eurofighter 2000 and Total Air War - i.e. tried to be realistic while making up some of the avionics so as to model state of the art prototypes.

It'd be great fun to try out a Mig 1.42...

Well, the result of this poll is hardly shocking.

Also, the result is completely irrelevant as it stands to reason that this forum is not even close to representing the overall customer base of ED products.

I like having a good mix. I introduced a friend to the series yesterday by having him fly around the A-10A after he tried his hand with the Huey. I could control the avionics with my wireless keyboard and leave him to do the flying and shooting, and it worked well into possibly getting new blood into the franchise. Sometimes I enjoy just "kicking the tires and lighting the fires" when I don't have a large window of time and I just want to fly and shoot, though I don't believe that FC3 type products should be produced at the expense of DCS level modeling.

The only thing I would request so that FC3 type products would be on an equivalent information level as DCS products would be a universal kneeboard function so FC3 flyers could determine bullseye calls and have a visual cue on the kneeboard map as to which waypoint or airfield is selected (since we have to sequence and guess otherwise).
