AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

Good News ....sorta

Received a news letter from ED. It stated " - We are making great progress on implementing our new graphics engine into DCS version 1.3.0 later this year. "

Since 1.08 will be released sometime in the future...I guess this means we will have to wait through 1,08 and then 1.09, and I cannot remember how long the time was between 1.07 and 1.08 ( when it gets released) but its appears like a it will hopefully be a short time between 1.08 and 1.09 if the implementing of the graphics engine will be later this year.

(((((The new engine brings several important improvements, notably: improved visual qualities, DX11 effects, improved performance, and the ability to support multiple maps including the long-awaited Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) map! )))))))

I am reading multiple maps.....HURAY........but will the NTTR map be included with this integration when it is released??

I also purchased most of the modules about 6 months ago....but I have never installed any of these on my new ( getting older) computer as I have been waiting for this new engine......so I wonder if these titles will be incompatible???? Do I have to repurchase all the titles again??

Yes, one or two others on the forums got that mail, too! :o)

You mean 1.2.7 and 1.2.8, right? But what do you mean with 1.2.9 ("1.09")? Why have you left out 1.2.10 and 1.2.11?

We don't know how ED numbers their versions. It could also be possible that 1.3.0 is the very next version after 1.2.8. So all this speculation is useless ...

Interesting question - as NTTR is supposed to be free for A-10C beta purchasers ... and that would probably imply that it is to be purchased by all others? So, will it be INCLUDED? or "just" available ...?

No, they will be usuable with the new engine. That's the whole point of ED constantly updating and maintaining DCS World.

There is also:

"3 - While we continue to update several of our existing aircraft like the F-15C, Su-27, Su-33 and MiG-29"

So I guess they have their hands full with 27 and 33 afm and 6-dof cockpit and afm for the 29's, So I'm willing to bet my shorts that there will be a 1.2.9 too.

But I were happy to see them at least mentioning the F-18 C

But more happy to find it in my spam box before I accidentally deleted the news! :smilewink:

I'm just a little concerned that ED will get distracted with all these projects that are planned.

F-18 is not going to be released this year?

Su-33 AFM should not be implemented until they fix the slippery deck bug for AFMs. I am not really expecting that until they do a major naval ops overhaul, which needs to be done for the F/A-18C anyway.

Oh, OK. I would like to see a ED multirole module more than anything else right now.

I miss Friday updates :(

I seriously used to really look forward to them. Now I have a void in my life that Break.com galleries and liveleak cannot fill.

I'd like to see them return but appreciate why they are gone. Maybe with the prolific action of new partners, third party modules and in house development, the Friday update may be worth reconsideration?

Perhaps it should return as a blog where not only ED but their partners can post updates in one spot? It would certainly assist with SEO through content and link building but it would also distribute the content authoring across a few more stakeholders while mitigating the "where's Waldo" information search for fans. SEO and fan information = big win I'd think.

A newsletter has arrived. Sadly, it would seem that it only contains information which was already available on the forum. Guess we´ll just have to keep waiting.

Nothing new on that update (the know Fw-190D-9 pre-release), I think the old "friday news" progress put some light on the end of the tunnel, but, was a pass time.

It's also worth noting that when Wags said that, he expected EDGE to have been long since released by now.
