Waiting for first discount on DCS: Mi-8MTV2

It's not an argument, it's a fact. The people that state that the current sales policy is bad business have no data to go on. You need lots of data to do at least a rough estimate about where the maximum lies on the product price/return curve.

 

And the fact that they've done it twice now suggests that people complaining on the forums are vastly outnumbered by people who are willing to jump into DCS during sales.

 

Speaking of which, I'm looking to snag FC3 tomorrow when the sale starts. Is Ubi's shop the best place to get a copy of LOMAC to put beneath it?

Last time I got a beta the first day !!!

 

I got the MI-8 with confidence that there would not be a sale before it's out of beta and the sale with the UH-1 would not repeat again.

And now this...

 

Still being a student for some more days, I don't yet have money to throw out the window.

Like my opinion or not, but this sale, 2 weeks after beta release, I feel I got screwed... :mad:

 

ED has these sales all the time, by now they shouldnt be a surprise anymore. Unless you have only been on this forum for a couple days.

 

If money is that tight for you, then maybe you should have waited. Money is tight for me as well, I assumed at some point the Mi-8 would go on sale and I could better afford it then... If I would have had the money when it released I would have bought it at release.

It amuses me to see the depth of feeling that pours out following one of these now routine (post sale) posts. No one is forcing cash from anyone's wallet or standing over them making them access their PayPal account at gunpoint.

 

It's about availability and timing - you want it now, you pay the price. If you're prepared to wait you get it at a discount, maybe :smilewink:

 

Seriously, ED will need to be careful going forward though as I think more and more of us will recognise the sales pattern and possibly decide to hang on that extra week or two. I may be wrong though!

this price drop is good for those who can not pay 50$ for a module like me because in my country every dolar become 3x than US or othe places in the world.

with all dcs problems i support them to continue this good job.

not all people know which time and where this drop happen.

Be advise by experience : ED and 3rd party realease product and patch not so often... and do big discount every season ... and even more... If you add Stream discount now.

I bought the Mi-8 KNOWING that this wouldn't happen. Based on the logic that BST wouldn't do what they did with the Huey again. Based on the fact that beta (or recently released) products are generally not subject to sales.

 

That said, I'm going to pull back from this discussion because I know it's going to be endless. I won't get or ask my money back anyway.

I was really scared coming to ED forums today, thinking of the shitstorm that would wait here around the whole MI8 sale.

 

Thankfully, the debate so far seems moderately civilized :)

 

 

During the Huey sale issue, I was one of the 'day one' players, paying full price, and I didn't really care about the sale that much as I felt my 50 bucks were well spent. My feelings on this haven't changed: if on day one you thought the module is worth 50 bucks, then its value for you hasn't changed overnight just because ED decided to make a sale.

 

That being said, one would think ED has learned SOMETHING during the Huey sale. Now either they didn't read any of the complaints of the fans, or they forgot about those complaints over the past couple months (vodka + short term memory = fail), or they don't care.

 

I'm sure there will be a financial short term gain from this sale (I myself am going to pick up MI8 tomorrow), but pissing off fans like this shouldn't be on ED's menu over and over.

Great! This means you've evaluated your preferences and decided that having a DCS module the moment it's released is less important to you than having it for a discounted price. In the future, with respect to ED, you'll be making more informed decisions as a consumer, and this is good. It's the market working, and in the same manner, if enough people change their buying behavior as a result of ED's sales policies, ED might change them someday.

 

I, too, tend to wait for sales, because I don't have a ton of time for flight simming these days, and I find that having a game soon is less important to me than having a game for a lower price. (Except for the Hornet, which I'm going to preorder for beta access as soon as ED lets me.)

Couldn't agree more, time remove some dollar signs from the module and start learning to fly the beasts... instead of complaining about some money spend or lost...

If ED releases a module of an aircraft you really like you will not take the chance in waiting for a sale that may come in a month or two. It's still possible to buy the Mi-8 for full price folks! :D

I quit trying to figure it out. I just know I made the right decision to wait on the Mi-8. After the Huey, I just knew this would happen.

I will not buy. This is like they are treating cows. I was a cow, I bought all modules, I have enough ''beta'' modules to fly. ENOUGH

As said, I anticipated the MI-8 to not go on sale before final release.

And there have been occasions in the past, where all modules were like 60% off, except for FC3 I think it was that was only 10% off or so.

I'd not complain if the newly released beta would be just 10% off, but 60% ?!

 

Sorry I have to use my grey matter for more important things than to keep track when there might be sales.

Yes I am angry and it's my right to be.

Not going to attack anyone personally, but this finally taught me to patiently wait for a sale when a new beta is released.

 

Next time when a new beta is relaesed say so if there is going to be a sale withing the next 2...3 weeks.

I'm sure this sale didn't find its way on the schedule just hours ago...
