Personally I find the whole demand for constant updates redundant and unnecessary.

When there is decent news tell us.. but users demanding updates every week & or when developers say they will post updates every week i just roll my eyes and expect the usual crap on the relevant forum.

Yawn.

I have seen no demands for updates in any threads anywhere, if anything the general tone has been a consensus of not needing such regular updates.

The usual crap has been about failed promises and concern over feedback that was inferred and not provided, nothing to to with updates per se.

A chance to alleviate any misplaced concerns was missed, which ever way you look at it.

Now is time to move forward, and without the rose tinted glasses.

Having a full time community manager is a great idea, and some would say essential on a project of this size and scope

Feb for alpha access now seems a very short wait :)

Isn´t the silence amazing?

Heeeellloooo Luthier,

what happend? Any news on the project?

What prevents you to communicate with community on a regular basis?

Ski accident?

Another internet connection desaster?

any other lame excuse?

All those promises for a better communication (community manager: where are you?) but still:

silence ...

Really?

There was an update before the Russian holidays. Compared to the update frequency of upcoming Belsimtek projects these guys are doing an awesome job. (Oh and in the end BST delivers awesome stuff so don't worry about RRG)

C'mon...

And you think Luthier will work harder or send you personal update messages every hour on your cellphone after Reading this? Get real please give the man a break. The stuff hè has shown so far is more then enough to be amazed what they have made so far. Enjoy what you have :joystick:

Actually Falke is right. I am always amazed how patient this community is. Everything points at Luthier`s habit to promise things and then forget about them has not changed too much.

We, who supported the kickstarter are his investors, and the very minimum is to keep us updated on a regular basis. It is not necessary to show awesome new things every week, but a few words to write about the progress cost nothing and takes no time.

While I agree please remember most of the dev team are russian and there break didn't finish until the 10th, so while it would be nice to get an update this week I imagine next week would be more likely.

Also, it's more of the argumentative nature/rudeness of the Falke's post that is being bashed here...

Well whether it was a silly promise or not luthier did promise weekly updates. He has taken people's money upfront and I would argue has an obligation therefore to keep people up to speed with how their money is being spent.

And what's more I would think he would want to speak as often as possible. Why make all the same mistakes that were made with CloD?

Agreed, there is a way to go about it and that wasn't it. I could understand if we were six months in and no word from RRG, but it's been around three weeks since the last one? And we're talking three weeks with holidays in both the US and Russia.

Guess what you get if you´re writing checks you can´t pay? The least you can expect is getting flak!

So my post might be provocative. But it expresses the frustration you get when again and again promised things don´t turn out to be done. It wasn´t me who asked for or who demanded two weekly updates. I didn´t promise a community manager who should built up a vital communication with the community.

It´s me who pledged for that project and in return is let down with unfulfilled promises. Not my understanding of positive treatment of a customer.

Thats all. Call it lame, call it disrespectful, it´s just expression of how I feel at the moment.

I never did see a date that these updates would start, or a date the community manager could be hired by. Its amazing anyone would expect twice weekly updates this early in the development, never mind during the holiday period.

There is always a chance the whole thing could collapse, but getting our panties in a twist this early in the development make no sense. Usually not enough works gets done in a week worth an update. Every two weeks would make far more sense, especially in the first six months of a development.

Just try this: Shout out for free beer in your pub. As soon as orders come in, tell them you didn´t mean this week! Wait what happens :)

Who knows what Luthier was actually thinking, when he said it, as he has a tendency of over estimate what can be done in a short period of time. or just assumed the community would apply a little common sense. Its not very likely that a sim thats just started development, could have enough material to create twice a week updates with any kind of substance. I think it would be far more prudent to have a terrain/content update one week, and a aircraft etc/content update the next. At least it would give each group of coders/modelers a minimum of two weeks to have something done worth showing.
