Yep, you're doing right thing, mate. Even former Czech president rejected / still rejects wearing one, even if he loves skiing, still saying it's only his live, his decision etc. He was right in a way, but it's really one of the small things that won't hurt you if you do them, but may seriously hurt if you don't.

Hans-Joachim Marseille Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Hi gents, I'm sorry to bring a sad news at this period of time. Recent details can be found here : http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2013/dec/30/michael-schumacher-doctors-update-condition-accident Let's hope he recovers soonThis is sad news. It was on national television a lot today. I'm sure the doctors in Grenoble did all they could, even taking away a piece of his skull to release the tension on his brains and cooling them to reduce the brains' need of oxygen. He was skiing outside the set perimeter, but still very sad. Edited December 30, 2013 by Hans-Joachim Marseille
westr Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I've followed F1 for many years, but if I'm honest was not a MS fan he was the arch rival of the driver I wanted to win. But I always have had a massive amount of respect for him and what he achieved. Which was in no uncertain terms remarkable. With F1 having played a big part in my life particularly as I grew up I was so shocked and saddened by this news I sincerely hope Michael fights as hard as he always did on track and can pull through this. Good luck Michael. RYZEN 7 3700X Running at 4.35 GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 32gb DDR4 RAM @3200 MHz Oculus CV1 NvME 970 EVO TM Warthog Stick & Throttle plus 11" extension. VKB T-Rudder MKIV

bn880 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Yes very bad news, wish him all the best. I'm a Schumi fan myself, but I have to say that in life you have to realize when you've used up all your luck and limit the dangerous stuff. (basically taken enough risk) Very good that he wore a helmet, even if most of those helmets are not very good for high speed crashes. (they are worse than cycling helmets for example) In any case, if you do very risky sports, you'd better take all the safety precautions. I had a helmet save me just this year on an MTB. (just wish I had knee pads, wear them now) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
