Crash to Desktop when selecting data cartridge waypoints in Kneeboard
ASW replied to twanmal's topic in Bugs and Problems
If I manually enter the coordinates into the inertial system, there won't be a problem. For me, it's effortless and even more interesting. The altimeter pressure setting has no effect on the Maverick's launch. -

I would think it would be the exact same one from FC3, is that one not working? -
Nah, I use the "release joystick in strange position" trick often enough that I would miss it if covered the sensor. Aside from this issue with the BIT test, I have never seen any reason to modify, change, or replace my joystick. Definitely never noticed a deadzone issue, but that might be because I have not had experience with newer, more precise joysticks, or just that I've been using this one for so long I'm used to it. I can tell you that I enjoy using unguided weapons, and I am able to employ what I consider to be an incredible amount of precision when doing so. I recently replaced my Thrustmaster TWCS throttle because it wasn't precise enough so I do pay attention to such things.

reported earlier Sharing some log errors (might help in debugging)
Snacko replied to jackmckay's topic in General Bugs
Fair Point. I missed that. I installed a brand new clean install of DCS to test with. Loading it to the game main menu got 96 errors. After flying the su-25t and P-51 I had 140 errors. 117 of those errors are those negative drag errors. Each time I fly a new aircraft I get new errors for them. This makes if much more difficult to find errors you can fix. Even though this is a very complicated program, with many different 3rd party developers, they should periodically have everyone clean up their errors! I'm going to install all of my modules today, and see how many errors I get. I'm guessing around 300... -
DCS MiG-29A Flight performance and air drag seems weird

Hello Actium, tried the safe version, creating the new entries in the registry, unfortunately it still insists on downloading again. I shall try the other solution as soon as I feel more confident and after gathering enough information about what I am doing by making these changes (in order not to damage something). I thank you for help and taking time!

IRL the ship could provide 30 kt and the caterpult could be used if there is zero wind. In game you can make it off at full load, but it's a bit tight. No cat but a little extra wind makes it more comfortable. I use 22 kt plus wind to make 38 kt over the deck in my practice mission. ..

Paveway II: Tactical Employment Series
graveyard4DCS replied to graveyard4DCS's topic in Guides & Tutorials
Phraseology, ground lasing and medium/high altitude buddy lasing have now been covered. The phraseology details the two possible lasing options: continuous (highly recommended in most cases, and I explain you why) and delayed. The ground-lasing section describes the profiles you’ll see when a JTAC is designating the target, highlights the main risks, and explains why Paveway II/III use modes such as Wide Pulse and Narrow Pulse, as well as the LLPL and SLPL options on the F-15E. Finally, the airborne buddy lasing series reviews the primary profiles: fighting wing, wedge, trail, and two circling methods. It and includes a short "tactical balance" for each profile to help you select the best option for your mission. SLPL and LLPL options on the LASER code for the F-15E Buddy-lasing Phraseology Tactical Balance of the "Fighting Wing" buddy-lasing profile.- 2 replies

My take on it is this. It works fine on a freshly tuned and well maintained set. As the set gradually goes out of tune, you get some weirdness. And if its totally out of whack it just turns off as a failsafe. That basically correlates with all the stories we hear about it. And makes total sense from a technical standpoint. Solution is easy too, have a checkbox for "Shiny new working SPO15" or "old n busted spo15" in the options. Just like with the program options.

It seems the JF-17 needs more love. The 802AKG missile was ruined, and there's no news about the CM-400. The JF-17 is DCS's most modern aircraft. We always forget about the JF-17 team. The 802AKG missile is one of the JF17's most interesting weapons, and it's what gives it a certain appeal. It already has a limited stock of weapons, and some of the ones it has don't work properly.

Just checked the RL approach chart for Weser-Wuemme EDWM, it shows the powerline masts with a height of 180ft, about 50m. It also looks more like a 220KV mast.

wip DCS: MiG-29A - Autopilot - how to use autopilot?
Molnija1985 replied to Molnija1985's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
So the flapping of the wings when applying autopilot is a bug that the developers need to fix...It occurred to me that maybe I was doing something wrong. Thank you... -
It only means that if effects are not simulated in DirectX, you will not get them. That's were telemetry shines, you can pick and choose the effects and their force to your liking. I'm sure if someone put their mind to it, they could rip and modify the firmware, make new drivers and add telemetry support. That said it's probably better to get a more modern one with "TM+" grip support and stronger motors. My main issue is the FFB2, is the hardware defined deadzone, hence the sloppiness in the centre. You probably haven't noticed since you haven't taped over the sensor. Cheers! No idea. My PC died, and I haven't bothered to fix it, so I've passed on the latest modules. (FFS haven't been to Iraq and Germany yet and none of the new map updates ) Just try to tape it over. You should have done that a long time ago in any case.

In your OP you said "we need cold war trainers" I responded that perhaps you meant to say that "you" wish for additional trainers. I (and many community members with me) don't need any more cold war trainers in DCS and rather see the effort spend elsewhere. No forum rules broken as far as I can tell. Good luck with your wish mate
