I thought I would release the beta version of my airfield diagrams for DCSW as the charts are at the point where I need to print a copy and then work my way through the airfields to get the rest of the detail right. The radio frequencies, elevations, directions and measurements should be accurate with the mission editor the F10 view and the A10C's internal MAGVAR. I'll do the release as a separate thread to the design discussion to avoid the release getting lost in that thread. I'm working through tower placement and taxiway labelling in addition to points of interest however a lot of the Russian airfields dont have the taxiways labelled which complicates the matter, I'm thinking it may be worth waiting until the DCS release prior to revisiting this. I've also added references to the ADF's from the BS manual and if the interest is there I will release a Russian air force version with Metric measurements once the maps are finished. If anyone picks a bug or has some reference notes for the airfields let me know. UPDATE: Updated airfield name plus some error corrections For those of you printing this, I recommend printing in color to A5 directly, as the map lines blend better in color then gray-scale, however you can print 2 per page on A4/letter Airfield Diagrams.pdf

  2. Greetings all. The Pre- Purchase release by ED for the A10-C is for some of us, a very early Xmas present! :joystick: The fidelity, thought, research, blood sweat tears and of course time, that has gone into this project so far is incredible. Some are having problems with it; Hardware conflicts, low / poor frame rates and 'bugs' that appear seemingly randomly, but to be fair, ED did not hide this on release. The Open Beta channel has been setup for us to post our thoughts and problems and works alongside ED's closed Beta as a way of gathering appropriate information to be addressed in future patches.:thumbup: Wags recently announced that there will be no more producer notes for the A10C due to ill health (good luck with op!) and there being not enough of a commodity that is valuable in business - time. There will however, be interactive information missions and these (IMHO) will undoubtedly dot the i's and cross the 'T''s. Until the Retail release however, There's some excellent videos on you tube on how to FLY, NAVIGATE and ENGAGE with the A10C and you will want to augment these, on to your own training regime. I would like to offer you my own series of IVS. Currently It is all ENGAGEMENT orientated and may offer some clarity with regards to the employment of some weapon systems. This Series is Ideal if you want continuity of instruction, rather than a million different methods, voices, quality of format and instruction, etc. All videos are available in HD 720p.   5. Many many complaints on the mavericks from a few people including myself. What has happened since FC1? The mavericks are completely off, they dont seem to recognize targets. I can be 2 miles out from a target and it will target a building or something completely arbitrary to the side half a click away from it. Additionally, you cannot pick specific targets either. Per say, a column or armor, you spot the highest threat and want to engage, but the maverick will only pick up on the lead and trail target, or sometimes the third one from the beggining or back.... :mad: Whats happened? I would understand if it behaved like this if i were about 8 miles out, but not when i get as close as 2 miles... Every single AA is easily engaging me before i can get a lock on them, and i have to bug off before attempting another run... even if he is the ONLY target around in an open field... I have tried different altitudes with the same results... Is this a bug, a feature, or what? PS: i made 5 of my friends buy this game, all 5 are experiencing the same problems.

  6. Hey there. I've received numerous requests to make additional videos about DCS A-10 since the multiple JDAM drop video. I enjoy making these. Feel free to suggest what topic you would like covered next. Gonna consolidate these into a master list of vids. As of now, there are 4 "main" ones, with the Targeting Pod guide being the latest: The above video describes how to range targets and create more accurate markpoints with the targeting pod. I made this fairly (as study sims go) newbie-friendly vid to show how to land. Part 1 is a basic VFR approach from the pattern; Part 2 has a crosswind landing and missed approach + additional info on crab angle calculation. I have introduced my personal preferences into the procedures very slightly, so I'm sure it'll deviate from the official Landing training mission. But, this is how I usually do it. I am not going to get particularly hardcore in the landing series of vids, because they're meant to be a starting point to practice and not an encyclopedic repository of pitch-perfect landings. Lately I've been experimenting with the trim system and MRFCS, and so I made a video about that. There was some confusion in the openbeta forum about how these systems work. It's also motivated by my desire not to end up in the state of confusion that I (and many others) were in about Black Shark's trimmer. I went into the A-10A manual that's linked in the "A-10 documentation" thread, read up on the trim/MRFCS topics in that, and then compared it to the functionality in the beta. The result was that it works as described in that document. Which is very cool. Please note that since the MFRCS is still a WIP item, I'm not going to do part 2 until there's either a good way to portray it as WIP, or until it's finished. The original JDAM video; shows the user how to launch multiple JDAMS and explains how the markpoint system can be used to input new navigation waypoints for flight plans. _______________________ I'll annotate any technical errors people find.

The first one: "Training Menu Fix" --------------------------------------------------------------------- This mod removes "Training tracks can't be played..." message box from Training menu in Black Shark v. 1.0.2. Now you can watch Training Videos downloaded from official DCS Black Shark site. Mod compatible with ModMan 7.3.0.0. The second one: "DCS: BS v1.0.0 Training Tracks" v. 1.1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Old training tracks prerequisites to Black Shark v.1.0.2. Mod compatible with ModMan 7.3.0.0. This mod prepares old training track files to be compatible with new DCS: Black Shark v.1.0.2. directories structure. Changes in version 1.1: Track files were removed from the zip file as the property of ED. Use RestoreTracks.bat located in \Training\BS\en directory to copy tracks from Backup folder. NOTE1: Training track files were recorded in version 1.0.0 of the game, so they may be played incorrectly in 1.0.2. NOTE2: To remove "Training tracks can't be played..." message box from Training menu use "Training Menu Fix" mod. Best regards, Baal

  8. It does work with touchscreens, but just as capable with real switches. Helios is a full cockpit management software and will work with DCS/LUA. We have not really posted all the capabilities yet on the pitbuilding side of things, but it will be a huge time saver if you have a lot of switches.

  9. If you’re not using TrackIR pressing LAlt C Should allow you to move the camera and the mouse cursor at the same time. There are different modes that can be selected by pressing LAlt C more times.

Hey chaps, I know it might seem easy to say, but don't fret about the wait - we've all at some point had the same thing, and I know in this particular case that when it does get delivered, all will be forgiven! :wub: It's going to have to be a bloody amazing follow-up product to get me to part with this and buy a different stick for at least 5 years if not 10, so I know a few more days wouldn't be a deal breaker. I even thought I'd continue using my X52 Pro for DCS:BS, but I've completely changed my mind on that now and it's going to be relegated to the buddy machine instead.

  12. Put the IFCC switch to TEST, select N when the HUD asks if you want to enter BIT. Then with the DATA rocker switch scroll down to 'Display Modes' and hit Enter. Now you should see an option - 'CCIP Gun Cross Occult' - change this to 'N'. However.... The settings don't seem to be saved. If you exit the HUD menus and then go back in again the settings are reset back to default.

  21. Well, this profile wouldn't work from the in game settings. Take note that it uses all three modes (color coded by the color that is on the stick when in that mode). Have you considered running SST without the "Direct Output" service running? That service fubars everyones system as far as I know. Just go into services, find the Direct Output service, and change it from automatic to disabled. It will never give you another problem. Vegas strip calls. Luck to you.

  24. The stick is absolutely awesome. The throttle base is a work of military art. So.....meaty. The throttle handle is going to take some getting used to. After my "moulded to your hand" cougar throttle this is more.......industrial and absolutely bristling with controls. I’m playing with the throttles linked as its melting my brain trying to keep them even and i don’t need individual control unless there’s a fire right? I wish the throttle handle was metal as well but vie not seen a real one so maybe this is 100% authentic. It’s got a very smooth action. None of the cougar-stickiness I may be in love. Don’t tell my girlfriend ;)

  30. I've got it and I have posted my thoughts over at SimHq. Here's my thioughts about it. Well this will just be my impressions from a few hours use (been too busy trying to find an apprenticeship), I never owned a Cougar, but I did have one of the ancient gameport sticks from thrustmaster from way back when (never really used that to much since it broke after just three weeks, got a new one, same stuff happened, then bought gameport CH stuff, way back). My last HOTAS config was a CH Fighterstick, Prothrottle and the pro pedals, compared to the CH stuff the HOTAS feels sturdier, the stick is slimmer, less of a bear paw is needed, however more musclepower is required (some might be a bit put off by that). I like the cool feel of the grip and the tension in the spring on the stick, the precision is remarkable in the stick, (Have only had time to fool around in the DCS: A-10C beta) it is easy to just trim the Hog and then with a centered stick theres no spikes or any kind of drift. The buttons on the stick is a chapter in itself, the tension needed for the trigger for example sets this stick apart, also the travel needed from the first stage trigger (PAC) to the second stage (Gun). The throttle is a dream to operate, smooth as silk and very lean, also the weight on the base is enough to keep the base grounded when you lidt the throttles over the detents when starting the Hog. switches are sturdy and not to light on the touch (except for the pimky swith that is apparantly adjusted for the little finger. the microstick (Slew control) can be a bit touchy and will take some getting used to, but no worries, also the speedbrake control where the extension of the brakes is springloaded and the retraction isn't. My only gripe is with T.A.R.G.E.T. that simply crashes in the GUI mode. but again I hope this is a WIP so that a new version will evolve soon. Just my impressions and thoughts. Staffan

У меня же ситуация иная - я с молодости привык, что мне дают задание, а не "миссию", и мне до сих пор (хоть с ЛокОн достаточно долго уже общаюсь) слово "миссия" касательно боевых заданий (пусть и виртуальных) в русском написании достаточно сильно режет слух и глаз.

  33. This post has a program that extracts text from mission files, including the triggers with the text in it. Pretty sure Strongham had the DSMS text printed out somewhere as well. I'll try to find that program, if not I'll rehost it.

  34. The person who gave you negative rep shows up in your User CP. If you only have one negative rep, and it's from 159th_Viper, then that means he has a lot of rep power. In other words, because Viper has so many posts, and such a high reputation, and joined a long time ago, whenever he gives good or bad rep to someone, it's adds or subtracts a lot more points to/from your rep level than if a newly registered person, with little rep, and few posts did it.

  36. Просто дело в том, что кроме как меткости вряд ли чему то еще можно научиться в оффлайне. Имхо, судя по всему, боты крайне не комфортно чувствуют себя на маленькой скорости, при этом маневрирование вызывает у них разрыв шаблона. Когда пытаешься крутить с ними сталфайт, начинают отворачивать, при этом поймать его в прицел или зайти в хвост труда не составит. Если стараться самому летать на средней скорости, становится уже сложнее, но все равно словить его на вираже не проблема. В онлайне же, летая с более опытным соперником, с точки зрения нуба (меня), это выглядит примерно так. Если сила луны на твоей стороне, и в первом же маневре после схождения тебе не напихали полные крылья свинца, начинаешь пытаться угнаться за противником. Процесс настолько захватывающий, что по неопытности забываешь все что читал раньше в умных мануалах:D, судорожно дергая рус:joystick:. При этом солидно теряешь скорость, и вот ты уже крутишь сталафайт. Вернее, так думаешь. В отличие от бота, который бы уже плюнул и отвернул в сторону, более опытный соперник, сэкономив лишний полтиник-другой скорости (видимо используя особую уличную магию), без проблем доворачивает на тебя, и в вираже бизжалосна отгрызает драгоценные куски обшивки. Угнаться же за человечиной на средней скорости еще сложнее, ибо в глазах темно, в голове пусто, плюс постоянная перспектива словить блэкаут, при этом стараться маневрировать так, чтобы не потерять скорость и противника из виду. В общем полный карабах. Я, собсна, это к чему, если знаешь как включать двигатель и на какую кнопку тыкать чтобы стрелять, то хватит мучить ботов, как Кот написал выше, день в онлайне как три в оффлайне.

  38. One of our closed-beta testers created a nice little program that can extract all of the texts from a mission, including triggers, and export them into a .txt file.   39. I read Oakes' post guiding Steilios on how to set up SOIC and LUA seems very clear and logical. I guess that is the way to go, the proven I/O solution for DCS series. Are you planning to get OC cards Kuky? You can get away without it for inputs using lots of BU0836X or Hagstrom, but you'd need OC for output stuff like LED, LCD and 7 segment displays.
