You really don't get it, it's not the 20$, but the extent that this "patch:" was expected to be free. NOTE enigma I have been playing lomac since day 1. Been a faithful customer with Eagle Dynamic, but this... If they would have said initially that all patches would be pay per use. However that Is not the case is it?2 points

You got to be kidding me:music_whistling: I think our community is very patient however a lot of people (I'll speak for myself); I'm fed up with the wait for a DCS quality fighter. Since LOMAC was released I graduated University, started my career, got married, had 2 kids and purchased a home....yeah I've been patient lol. /end rant2 points

Maybe it is all part of a strategy? Can ED model fast fixed wing jets - Yes Can ED model rotary wing - Yes Can ED model prop aircraft - Who knows?2 points

After a few requests I have decided to release the custom payload mod I produced for use by the 1st VFW/25th VFS. Loadouts are based on real world weapon usage and configurations (You won't find any loads with 6 AGM-65s here). Mod includes 9 custom categories, with each category containing up to 10 loadouts. A pdf catalogue of all A-10C load outs is included for easy load out selection as well as full installation instructions in the readme. Also included as of version 1.2 are custom loads for the Ka-50 and the mod is fully BS2 compatible. 25th VFS Standard Payloads V1.2.zip1 point

Lack of buttons - no probs. Are the buttons reliable? No issues? It can be programmed via the TARGET software, if you weren't aware, so have shift functions etc... :) Best regards, Tango.1 point

You have to be rich to afford $20? :megalol: Let's see...for $20 I can take my wife to the movies. If I chip in another $15 or so I can get drinks, some popcorn, maybe some M&Ms. That is a one time event for the value. With BS2, I get endless hours of fun plus the ability to go online and fly with people all over the world. On top of that I get to use my creativity with the mission editor which gives me yet more hours of fun. All for just $20. Time for you to get another hobby. Perhaps checkers might agree with you. That is pretty cheap.1 point

All, I am thinking about getting an SSD and am looking at either SATRA 2 or SATA 3 drives. From what I have read I think I can expect faster load times of the OS and game load times, but not much impact once you are inside the DCS games. I would like to hear from some of you that have SSDs and see what you think of them, did you see and change in game play either single player, or on-line. Thanks in advance, Clutter :pilotfly:1 point

Flying on Moa's server today and noticed I didn't need multiple Vikhrs against the Abrams. Just wondering if the Vikhrs packs a bigger punch or if the Tank's armor values has changed.1 point

Okay, Call me wrong if you like but this is from an actual helicopter engineer... and the one who was the lead test engineer for the comanche to boot! [/url] Hey, why didn't we ever make a coaxial helicopter? Him: Simple - the design never met anyone's mission requirements. Watch this space, though - Sikorsky's X-2 is going to try it again.June 2 at 5:59pm · Me: I can understand that, but requirements aside it seems to me like its just a better design than a main/anti torque design...June 2 at 6:43pm · Him: Define "better." Give examples. Yes, this is a test.June 2 at 8:17pm · Me: Well I'm not helicopter engineer, but with a conventional system you have power from the engine that goes to the anti torque rotor, one way or another. That power is used ONLY to maintain heading and combat the torque effect of the main rotor. With a coaxial design, 2 main rotors moving in opposite directions, torque is canceled out as you have two rotors moving at the same speed in opposite directions. But since they both produce lift, and work together, no engine power is "wasted" on maintaining heading. You also dont have issues with things like cross coupling and whatnot. So where am I wrong? why aren't all helicopters coaxial?June 2 at 8:35pm · Him: Generally speaking, what would the difference in rotor system weight be for the coaxial vs main rotor/tail rotor, given identical cruise speed and payload requirements?June 2 at 10:12pm · Me: ...ah. So the coaxial system would weigh a crapton more, because you now have two main rotor disks instead of one, thus reducing the usable payload and giving it a slower speed due to the increased overall weight. so by "requirements" you mean more payload is needed more than the efficiency of a coaxial system, and a traditional main/anti torque system fits the bill better... am I warm?June 2 at 10:17pm · Him:You're getting there. Why would the coax weigh more? I'll give you one fact to play with - Lift is proportional to total disk area. With two disks, the total area of both disks for a coax will equal the area of the single disk of a conventional for a given amount of lift.June 2 at 10:21pm · Me: Because you have twice as many rotors? usually? I mean two rotor disks, even if they're smaller, is going to weigh more than a traditional one. But if lift is proportional to disk area, shouldn't the coax have twice as much lift? making the increased weight worth it? I can't think of another reason why the coax would weigh more... I mean traditional and coax both use two engines...June 2 at 10:24pm · Him: One step further. For a given lift (=aircraft weight), the area of the two rotors (coax) = the area of the single rotor (conventional), meaning smaller blades for the coax. Totatl rotor blade weight is thus roughly comparable. What's left to be different between the two?June 2 at 10:27pm · Me: Jeeze. the collective system? I really can't think of anything else!June 2 at 10:39pm · Him: That's part of it - controls. The other part is driveshafts and mounting structure. The lower rotor of the coax will be roughly the height of the single. The upper will be much further up, to keep the rotors from "shaking hands" as the disks tilt (forward blade up, retreating blade down). That means a long drive shaft. Then you've got the double swashplate and pitch rods, plus gearing to drive two rotors in opposite directions. Finally, that upper rotor is way up there, increasing moments and thus loads at the point the transmission mounts to the airframe, meaning much heavier mounts. So, for a given amount of lift, and an equal airspeed requirement, the coax has a heavier rotor system weight, therefore a lower payload.June 2 at 10:46pm · Me: And all of that really weighs that much? even with the newer alloys and whatnot we use these days?June 2 at 10:48pm · Him: Both systems get exactly the same benefit from advanced materials in terms of percentage weight reduction, so that's a wash. Even if you're just an airplane driver, you should learn to think like an engineer - there WILL come a time when the airplane isn't doing what you expect it to, and that ability to figure out why things are happening will save your sorry ass.June 2 at 10:50pm · Me: Believe me I know it. They drill it into us at school, and i've had it happen to me in EFMS class. I've also taken systems and components, turbines, and jet transport systems but I haven't studied helicopters at all. anything I know about them is due to my own interest, not due to my schoolJune 2 at 10:57pm · Him:Sounds like you got it.1 point

HA HA, Not really adding much to the convo. But I prefer the KA-50 to the A-10 myself. I find the KA-50 really easy to get started and get going and take stuff out on the other hand the A-10 is a brain drain for me I try to get into it but I end up getting too tired after 10 mins and have to sleep but that could be from 60 hour weeks too and just not enough time to be able to get into it properly. So if it was up to me I'd buy the KA-50 2.1 point

I'll give a very robust reference to the 159thGAR A great bunch of guys whom fly the ka50 like it is supposed ot be flown. I guarantee you will learn something new each squad op with those guys. They fly 1-2 dedicated squad ops a week. although they are combined arms utilizing both the ka50 and FC2 assets, there is nothing better than sneaking around in a shark with ShallowG while the Su25T clears SAM and the SU27s provide CAP. Seriously follow up with the 159th - you won't regret it.1 point

So let me get this straight, you think a fix for an AI 3D model which you will only see briefly either on the ground or flicking through external views is more imortant than fixing crashes, FPS issues, and avionics/mechanical system issues with the human flyable aircraft in the sim?1 point

imagine the witch hunt if ED didnt put guns in the legend a/c. Like Ethereal, I'm a fan of flight, but this is a combat sim and I'd be sorely disappointed if I cant fire a burst at random object evey now and then.1 point

If ED can model prop aircraft I do believe they just may corner the flight sim market even more... Who knows maybe ED could team up with A2A Simulation they do excellent work on the P-51D and Spits also with Accu-Sim Spits and soon to come Accu-Sim P-51D:music_whistling:1 point

A perhaps more efficient way of dealing with such scheduling woes would be to identify development bottlenecks and remove them, either by retraining existing staff or systematically hiring new people. Manufacturing engineering certainly holds that bottlenecks in a process are never healthy in the long term. I guess it would help people's confidence in ED's ability to execute parallel development if they had demonstrated that they were able to meet their own goals in terms of release cycle and backwards compatibility. Because the C in DCS stands for Combat, perhaps ;) I have to agree with those concerns to a large extent, losing focus is rarely a way to improve - "jack of all trades, but master of none" comes to mind. I'd much prefer a DDG-51 module, actually. Look at it this way, even if ED never gets around to releasing another helicopter, Black Shark and the engine changes required to make it work will have left a lasting, useful legacy. It introduced clickable cockpit technology, infantry, sophisticated AI helo FMs, realistic AI helo behaviour, improved ground unit AI, a more detailed armour damage model and much more. All of which moved DCS forward a great deal as a simulation of modern warfare and will continue to be much appreciated no matter what the future flyables will be. However, if it turns out that ED lacks the resources to provide a proper environment for Flying Legends beyond the initial release, what benefits relevant to the DCS world will it have yielded? Virtual photo ops and air racing, as has been a popular suggestion here and elsewhere? That's a somewhat meagre result considering the effort, don't you think?1 point

Nobody in is mind, and that have for somehow experienced combat (or trained intensively for it, to the point of hate) likes War. Period. War is something that Humankind can be ashamed of. We all been here for the adrenalin of sheer combat and adventure... something that young ones pursuit for thousands of years. And for that is the importance of History, to remember ourselves our flaws. So, who wants to fly FSX? :D1 point
