I've seen a bit of negativity surrounding the date of release due to the lack of news as well as about the variant, so I wanted to pump some positivity and hype back into the forums. I'm honestly pretty pumped for the F-4E and it's pushed me into the Big, Scary World of DCS and the world of No Mouse-Aiming(tm) and No Keyboard Control(c. 2008, Eagle Dynamics). Dear Heatblur, Thanks for putting out the F-4E! This module's been a motivating factor to get into DCS and I'm pleased as punch that you guys are making it. Thanks for putting out what is sure to be one sick-ass ride! The F-4E's been my favorite Phantom variant and probably by far the one that's the best as a multirole and one of the best for the air-to-air arena, equipped with TISEO, targeting pods, CAA, AIM-7s, AIM-9s and all the bells and whistles one could hope for. Back when I was a kid, the F-4 Phantom was one of my favorites- and I hope that this new module makes this plane a new favorite for a bunch of others too! I'm looking forwards to flying the most maneuverable, best-outfitted Phantom variant ever produced, and possibly the forerunner to the entire multi-role integrated sensors/weapons platform philosophy that we see in modern US Aircraft. The upgrade variants touted has got me pretty hyped! Overall, it looks like we're going to get pretty much the definitive F-4 Phantom- more so, I'd argue, than the USN variants that focused more on being purely interceptors and never managed the sheer level of upgrading and technological integration that the USAF did on their late-model E aircraft. I'm hyped as hell to use the AGM-65s on their first ever deployable platform, as well as using its air to air abilities and maybe experiencing the TISEO for myself. Sure, it's not perfect- The Mavs that we'll get will have a tendency to do the "Maverick Dance", and so will the walleyes and HOBOS- and the Pave Spike sure as hell isn't the best pod. CAA is nice to have but it sure as heck ain't pulse doppler, and not having HMCS like F-4S and F-4J is gonna be a be a bit of a drag- But damn you sir, I am an F-4E Sim Pilot and I shall be so till the day I die! For those interested I will continue to post on my modern F-15 mods here. It is fairly well-known that I have made an F-15EX mod that is currently available for download here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3324876/ I hope to add a custom cockpit and external model to this mod at some point (it currently uses the F-15C cockpit and F-15E external model). What is not well known yet is that I intend to make a modernized F-15C mod, since the F-15C in its current state in DCS has some glaring limitations. Lack of AIM-9X capability is one of the main issues and one that I intend to partially correct, but I also want to implement some additional features that do not require loadout mods. This mod will if possible be IC-compliant, though like most add-on aircraft mods it will not be usable in most multiplayer servers. Howdy Folks, just finished uploading a new version of my SAM Threat Guide for DCS to the User Files and thought I should share it with you all. This is a kneeboard with all the information you could need to successfully SEAD/DEAD any SAM site. It includes the obvious stuff like names, ranges, altitudes, and HARM codes. More importantly, it includes pictures of the important bits of the SAM site, including the track radar and which one you should prioritize. There is also a small section which shows the common layout of a SAM site based upon their real world layouts. Hello Heatblur, Countless virtual pilots would love to know the latest update on the F-4 phantom. Besides the "we are working on it" response, please give us more specific information on how the development is progressing. Additionally, when will the Phantom be available? Hi thank you but it's not worth it. Proportions are manifestly off on this model. I use several types of blueprints, some are factory plans, others are literally 3D models made by photogrammetry. The Caesar is like the Jaguar or Griffon, there is nothing like this available even with my contacts and therefore I would have to work inaccurately. And if many people will say they don't really care, I don't spend 20 h of modeling a vehicle if I'm to be inaccurate ^^ if I'm okay to make the above list, it's because I have been provided with photogrammetry work by people I know which can be used as a very accurate blueprint, and I have several thousands photographs.4 points

People in this thread mention look down penalties and doppler notches as the main issues but when we're talking specifically about maximum range of the radar in DCS compared to real life, there is another issue that has a much bigger impact. In real life, the chance of a radar pulse returning to its sender is probabilistic. As an example (using completely made up numbers), every sweep of the radar maybe has a 80% probability to get a return head on at 30nm, while it only has a 10% probability at 70 miles. This is why real life pilots are always saying that STT is much more reliable than TWS, because in real life you get a hell of a lot more radar pulses on target every second in STT than you do in TWS, hence a bigger chance of actually getting a return. This means that even if you only manage to get a single return from a contact at 70 miles every tenth sweep with the radar, maybe 1-2 minutes in-between each return, you could still be able to get a stable STT lock simply because of the sheer volume of pulses you're sending out every second in STT. To use incorrect terminology, you could say that STT has a "longer range" than RWS or TWS, which is why it's so weird that STT has a "shorter range" than RWS and TWS in the DCS F-16C. The radar model in DCS is deterministic. If you're within these and these parameters, you'll be visible on radar 100% of the time and if not, you'll be visible 0% of the time. This is why the "maximum range" is so short in DCS and also why a lot of people use TWS all the time, because with a deterministic radar model the benefits of STT are much, much smaller. So, as long as a future refactor of the F-16's radar doesn't implement a probabilistic radar model, you won't see "maximum ranges" anywhere near to real life. Any kind of improvements to the F-16's radar are welcome though.4 points

Reading shattered sword about Midway. It appears Japanese AAA was close to useless, during American attack on the Japanese ships the anti aircraft fire only shot down like 3 planes(out of 150 attackers over several hours) Now anyone who has played ww2 DCS knows, that's not how AAA works in DCS. You add 150 attacking planes against a dozen ships with AAA and you'll have about 150 dead planes.3 points

This coming patch got pushed to Friday (tomorrow), but I'm not sure it's ready. No preorder or anything and if this patch is the last patch of the year, I expect the bandaid will be ripped off as well. Hoping for a surprise though! They're saying "press F to pay respects" for me taking one for the team and going in vacation meaning the phantom would be released. Just gamer internet humor3 points

I also do think so. It's ok. It's christmass. Heatblur did great job these year, thank you guys for that. Next year I'll start asking about Phantom again. Personally, I check ED forum everyday with hope I hear something. I watched every movie about Phantom II in YT, I ordered and red most books available. For now i suggest... jump to planes. Не зря же их так много в реальном мире. ***UPDATE for me the problem was fixed once I chose pure PERFORMANCE mode within Win11 22H2 instead of BALANCED+Performace **** Hello just to rise a concern regarding latest Beta, whatever happened and was changed produce a maaasive stuttering and occasionally freezing while in game, flying no matter where over sea, land, it has a periodic stutter every few seconds and sometimes it freeze but the game continues in background for about 3-5 seconds which makes it impossible for precision flying ,refueling , dropping ordinance , however the framerate is high 130-175 FPS and even during the freez time the FPS count never drops like 0 sound is going on it runs however screen is frozen . This is the first time I experience this kind of issue with 2.0.8 and basically for me it is unplayable in current state and condition. Win 11 22h2 (latest build) msi MEG x570 ACE MAX , Ryzen 9 5950X, msi 4090 Suprim Liquid X , 32 GB 3600 Trident Neo Z , all my drives 3 of them are Gen 4 M.2 SSD the game is on msi Spatium M.2M480 1TB drive 7000/6000 and the real speed is close to that Resolution 3440 x1440 , all settings MAX but also lowering any settings doesn't help it is like periodically every few seconds somebody grab you at the back, like the system would like to go but something is holding back with occasional complete freez for few seconds like nothing moving but game runs in background once it recovers you find yourself to close to tanker or crashing on the deck. Playing mainly F-14 but the same happens with the F-18 This is the ONLY game stuttering and freezing on my system as it didn't do anything like that with previous BETA versions at least 2 ,3 versions down the line this must be game related in current release. dcs.log2 points

I've done a quick benchmark with the Plazma Torture map using the RX 7900 XTX. I'm getting double the average framerate compared to the GTX 1080, and going from being GPU bottlenecked, to CPU bottlenecked. Overall quite impressed, although I'm not sure how it compares to competing cards. When I get some time tomorrow, I'll do a few more benchmarks as were suggested here. Hi all, I have checked with the team When in SIL mode the radar should simply not actively transmit; however, the radar should still be able to receive. So, if a jammer is detected, it should still indicate the jammer azimuth on the radar display. Further, data link would still be displayed on the radar when in SIL.2 points

After reviewing, bad luck indeed. Only did two test runs both of which yielded the same result, after retesting, direct hits do one shot the humvees, but even missing by 10cm means this is no longer the case. Probability of detection is definitely a huge thing we are lacking in DCS. As another example of how it drastically changed how things should be: A dragging (cold) contact will have a lower probability of detection per hit, however because of the much lower closure rate compared to a hot target you actually have a higher probability of detection at any specific range, because you get more hits. This is talked about specially in a 1983 paper by Ringel on the APG-66. This is in contrast to DCS where a cold contact has a lower detection range.2 points

ED, can you please make this happen. I am tired of accidentally having the alphabet all over the place while I am flying. This would be a major assist for those of us who consistently hit the MK point instead of SPI. From what I have researched and heard from guys in the Air Force, the button highlighted above is the actual delete MK point button in the aircraft. This would be really beneficial and hopefully an easy ask.2 points

Based on this, I doubt 7900 XTX will be ever better of 3080Ti or 3090 (without Ti), and not even in VR These results really are a disappointing. No wonder why is that cheap2 points

Tried the 7900xt last night and was very disappointed. Frames were about the same or worse then my 6800xt. BAR had a noticeable negative impact on frames. Overall about 30-40% less fps then the 4080 I returned. 6800xt=50fps sitting on the ramp in F5 on Caucus however frames seemed to drop more during flight then the 7900 (relatively speaking, frames didn’t seem to drop in flight as much with the 7900 but they were still lower overall in flight as well with the 7900xt) to about 40-45. 7900xt = 42fps dipped into the high 30’s in flight saw high gpu utilization throughout (high 90's with 99% most of the time I was looking at it). 4080 = 60fps rock solid 60 or more in flight, gpu utilization was often below 90%, down to as low as 75% I’m currently running a 5800x3d with 32 go ram at 3400 with g2 in open xr. Cleaned up drivers with ddu after every gpu swap. Also probably worth mentioning that my 6800xt is overclocked/undervolted. I did not change anything for the 7900xt except BAR. On a sub note, the low gpu utilization of the 4080 is weird because if I turned on FRS with my 6800xt in VR and ran a low resolution I could easily get 90fps, which seems to indicate on this map (same for all comparisons) that I am not CPU limited.2 points

Sorry for the Caesar, the AUF-1 will do the job. Though one wants it he can provide me accurate blueprints and photographies. 5.0 will be released by the beginning of january.2 points
