Has the team ever watched in-cockpit footage of BFM in real life? Pilots contort their bodies all over to get a clear view behind them, so such "boundaries" are completely unrealistic. The only boundary should be the canopy glass, and the only view obstructions should be the seat and associated parts.10 points

Our simulation was developed from real Mirage F1 engineering data, and we have constant feedback provided by SME, real F1 pilots. We keep working on improving the model based on all this. This said, it can happen that data is misunderstood, that some data is missing or unreliable (let’s say for example data at extreme AoA, etc), or that there are bugs in our code that make the simulated airplane behave different from the real one. We are currently working on a significant FM update focused on roll behaviours that will improve lateral stability, as well as other aspects of the flight characteristics.. We appreciate feedback when it is based on evidence, not on subjective opinions and, mainly, when it is transmitted in a polite manner.6 points

Hello, A-4E-C Pilots! This new version adds some exciting features like new damage effects, ADF, improved radios and new nosewheel castering simulation. This version of the A-4E-C requires DCS version 2.9, which as of release, is only available on the OpenBeta branch of DCS World. If you're still playing DCS World version 2.8, you'll want to stick with the version 2.1.1 for now. You can download older versions from the A-4E-C Releases page. Remember that in multiplayer, server and client versions of the A-4E-C must match, so be sure you are in sync with your favorite server's configuration when playing online! https://github.com/heclak/community-a4e-c/releases/tag/v2.2 Version 2.2 - 27 Oct 2023 Added A new NWS (that's Nosewheel Simulation, mind you) makes correcting turns on the ground much easier, and eliminating the "stuck wheel" feeling due to over-braking in taxi. Amaze your friends with your drifting skill! AN/ARC-51 UHF Radio supports DCS VOIP radios. In addition to Radio Microphone Push-to-Talk (PTT) Transmit binding for sending to VOIP radio, a second Radio Microphone Push-to-Talk (PTT) Guard bindings allows the pilot to transmit to the guard frequency when the radio is in TR+G mode. These two bindings function identically to the DCS default "cockpit r.1 VoIP PTT" and "cockpit r.2 VoIP PTT" bindings, respectively, and you can use them instead if you wish. See the Updated AN/ARC-51 UHF Radio guidance on page 1-2 in the Kneeboard Manual for additional details. AN/ARN-25 Automated Direction Finder (ADF) system is now modeled for use with the AN/ARC-51 UHF Radio. Information on using the equipment is detailed in the Kneeboard Manual on page 1-3. Weapons: AIM-9J and AIM-9P3 are available on inboard and outboard stations. AGM-45B Shrike is available loadout options on inboard and outboard stations. 2.75" Hydra rockets are available loadout options with LAU-3 (19 rocket) and LAU-68 (7 rocket) launchers, including white phosphorous, HE, HEAT, as well as Mk1, Mk61, and WRU-1/B practice munitions to the loadout options. LAU-68 launchers also allow loadouts with Para Illum and Practice Smoke Hydra rockets. Outboard stations support 1 launcher, inboard stations up to 2, and up to 3 can be added on the centerline station. AN/ASQ-T50 TCTS ACMI pod is available on inboard and outboard stations. Enhanced damage modeling: In addition to Reduced effect of transient forces to prevent wake breaking wings, and improved engine damage. The following system failures can be triggered by damage, or selected as a failure in mission editor: Radar Receiver Gear Jamming Gear Actuator Pitot Tube Static Port Boost Pump Wing Pump Aileron Actuators Elevator Actuator Rudder Actuator Wing Tank Leak Fuselage Tank Leak Engine and Inlet Cold Start, Taxi, Takeoff, and Free Flight missions for the Sinai map are available in the Instant Action. Input bindings: Else option for the Chaff Dispenser Select added (for a 3-position switch). Radar Altitude Warning - Slew axis. Changed Standardized naming conventions for loadouts with multiple ejector racks, and provided additional detail for weapon payloads original to the A-4E-C. Recalculated the weight of rocket launcher pod payloads. Kneeboard Manual: Updated AN/ARN-52 TACAN guidance on page 1-3. Updated Airfield Radio and ILS data on page 1-4, which can now accomodate up to 30 entries, making it compatible with the contents of the Sinai map. Updated Shrike and Sidewinder delivery guidance on page 3-5. Updated AN/APR-25 Radar Homing and Warning System guidance on page 3-6. Compressed images for smaller file size and faster loading. Fixed TACAN and MCL system crashes. The AN/ARC-51 UHF Radio volume knob now adjusts radio and VOIP radio volume. The AN/APG-53A Radar OBST tone and AN/APR-25 RHWR audio properly route to the Helmet sound channel. Black lines along center and around the nose cones of fuel tanks have been removed. Malaysia TUDM livery uses the provided custom fuel tanks. Station arming switches no longer produce a debug printout with the weapon selector in the BOMBS & GM ARM position. Loadout option inaccuracies in the Kneeboard Manual on page 1-6 are corrected. Eliminated Kneeboard Manual typos in page reference annotations.5 points

I'm sorry for your thoughts. Aerges team is one of the most profesional group I have ever found. That's the reason that demonstrates that a compromise exists to continue updating and improving the module to be most accurate one. Like everything, perfect things needs time and effort. Its a pity that you can not see the new FM changes incoming.... Enviado desde mi SM-G981B mediante Tapatalk5 points

When I first started flying simulators, it was the early 90s. I remember flying around what would require severe imagination intervention to call 'pyramids', and the first time I saw a 'cloud' in a game that I could fly around, was a WW1 sim by Microprose in which the clouds were solid block objects - and it felt so immersive back when games started implementing cloud 'layers', just prior to several titles pioneering the 'rotating face object' clouds. And now, 30 years into flying simulators, the work that has been done to create immersive and captivating escapism truly leaves me amazed every time I play. I honestly can say that I get as much enjoyment out of simply flying around the maps, as I do in active engagements with enemy units. Sometimes more enjoyment if I lose the engagement. All that to say - just, thanks. Thanks for all the work you all do. This is a luxury industry, to be sure, but for someone that needs to be able to look at a beautiful sunset in the darker winter months of northern latitudes in order to remain sane - you've done it. You've really done it. To be able to so clearly explore the sky as the young boy in me still gets thrilled to do, you keep the youthful energy of exploration, the marvel of technology and the stunning highlights of our natural world in wonderful definition. Thanks. (edit - whoever created your sunset is worth every raise you're about to give them.)4 points

The firing tables for field use, like AAF manual 200-1, use reduced muzzle velocities for their tabulations because they are accounting for wear and the average velocity of the bullets in a burst. This is plainly stated in M8 API ballistic table. The ballistic data in those AAF field manuals. Often comes from firing tables like the one above, FT 0.5AA-T1. In “AAF-200-1 Fighter Gun Harmonization” The data comes from Aberdeen Firing Table FT. 50 AC M-1 https://archive.org/details/aaf-manual-200-1-fighter-gun-harmonization/page/9/mode/1up The ballistic data in “Air Force Manual 64 Fighter Gunnery” Comes from FT. 50 AC-M-1-8 https://archive.org/details/air-forces-manual-no.-64-fighter-gunnery-firing-rockets-dive-bombing-1-may-1945/page/111/mode/1up The reduced muzzle velocity (2700 FPS) used in AAF-200-1 is representative of a gun halfway through its service life. The Army Air Force considered a 50 caliber machine gun barrel worn out when the cold gun muzzle velocity of the weapon dropped by 200 fps. https://archive.org/details/hypervelocitygun01bush/page/466/mode/1up However, If you want some more sources with higher muzzle velocities from the war with. I can provide a few more. There’s TM 9220 It gives the muzzle for the M2 AP from the 36 inch aircraft machine guns as 2845 fps The same document gives the muzzle velocity for the M1 Incendiary when fired from the 36 inch aircraft barrel as 3,100 fps https://archive.org/details/TM9-2200/page/n209/mode/2up Or the 1944 version of “Terminal Ballistic Data” Which contains the Range, impact velocity and armor penetration values for the 50 Caliber AP M2. The test from the Ballistic Test Section was conducted on December 20 1943. This report gives the muzzle velocity of the 50 Caliber M2 AP as fired from a 36 inch aircraft barrel as 2845 fps. The 1945 Version of this same report gives the muzzle velocity as 2,835 fps. Including the data sheet. and The revised Velocity Penetration Graphic. Or From the Small arms R and D report. Which states the muzzle velocity at 78 feet from the 36 inch barrel is 2810 fps. When you take in the totality of all source materials and account for the practical application of the use of the firing table. I feel it safe to say that muzzle velocity of the 50 caliber projectiles, fired from a cold barrel, is best represented by the values in the 1946 Technical Manual for 50 Caliber aircraft Machine gun. The 2700 fps value, used in the Air Force firing tables already accounts for reduction in muzzle velocity due to burst firing and wear. When the game applies additional reductions in muzzle velocity with the shot_heat effect, it's over modeling the drop in velocity. The drop in velocity due to burst firing is baked into the Air Force firing table. The procedure for accounting for the drop in muzzle velocity due to burst fire when the firing table is created, is described by the Agency which creates those tables, The Ballistic Research Lab. In BRL Report 889 "On The Computation Procedures for Firing and Bombing Tables" https://apps.dtic.mil/sti/tr/pdf/AD0027123.pdf I know that you can ruin the performance of a 50 caliber machine gun by burst firing it. I’m not advocating for turning off shot heat for these weapons. I’m well aware that a continuous burst of 170 bullets will reduce the velocity life of a standard steel M2 50 Caliber Aircraft to zero. https://archive.org/details/hypervelocitygun01bush/page/481/mode/1up Meaning that weapon would fire 200 fps slower than a new 50 caliber, EG a worn out barrels fires around 2600 fps from a cold barrel. As this was the definition of the velocity life of the weapon. https://archive.org/details/hypervelocitygun01bush/page/466/mode/1up Velocity drop and an increase in Dispersion should be in game. However the 50 caliber machine gun DCS models is half worn out and and prone to to delivering muzzle velocities for a weapon closer to the end of its service than the begging of it . I would make this same argument for why a small reduction in the dispersion value is important. When the heat effect is added to the slightly larger dispersion, the dispersion is too great and over modeled. Again, I’m not trying to argue that burst firing should should not increase the dispersion of the projectiles. I’ve read detailed reports on how long of a burst fire it takes to reduce the accuracy of this weapon https://archive.org/details/hypervelocitygun01bush/page/466/mode/1up And The effect burst length can have on accuracy. I chose to use the 1.2 milliradian std deviation as the basis for my mod because that value is so widely used in various manuals. 4 mil 75% Shows up over and over again in numerous Air Force Weapon manuals. And It continues to show up after the war too. 4 mil 75% / 8 mil 100% was still the standard in the 1950’s https://www.google.com/books/edition/AF_Manual/81krAQAAMAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&pg=PA155&printsec=frontcove The fact that this figure was used over and over again for as long it did gave reasonable assurance that this was a sound basis for an accurate assessment of the gun's accuracy. There was also some other data in form of mean radius that I chose not to use because, if you computed a standard deviation for the mean radius given It was far below what the Air Force was using in their manuals. It looks like they may have had switch the notation of feet with inches when they wrote the mean radius. The document also does not define mean radius. Is it CEP? Error Probable? the Mean Radial Miss distance?. There were just to many questions about the data in this table. So I did not use any of these figures as the basis for my mod. https://archive.smallarmsreview.com/archive/detail.arc.entry.cfm?arcid=13265 I just want to impress upon you the level research and consideration that I put into developing this mod. I didn't just pick the best numbers. I selected numbers which would best represent the cold barrel performance of new 50 caliber M2 Aircraft Machine Gun. Is this the report you based your accuracy data on? Or was it that Russian P-40 firing test I've heard about but have never been able to get my hands on. I appreciate that you looked at this and I hope that I have convinced you to take another look at the data presented.4 points

Our new UH-1 campaign will be released soon, and we already have plans for another one. Nevertheless, the question of a new challenge arises. The Mi-8, as another highlight in DCS, is on top of our list. The question arises. Is there interest in a realistic campaign? and if yes, On which map should the campaign be set? I would be very happy to receive your feedback.3 points

The firing table for the M8 AP is for the 28 lb 45 inch heavy barrel machine gun. The firing tables the Air Force manuals are based on the 10 lb 36 inch aircraft machine gun barrel. the reason for the difference in between the two manuals is because heavy barrel is less prone a drop in muzzle velocity than the light M2 barrel. Given the same burst length the barrel of the lighter 36 inch aircraft expands more and the overall temperature of the 36 inch barrel is greater. Resulting in a greater reduction in velocity and accuracy for the 36 inch barrel. The 28 lbs heavy barrel can fire 8 times more rounds Compared to 10 lbs 36 barrel used on aircraft machine guns. The reason for the difference in between the two manuals is because heavy barrel is less prone a drop in muzzle velocity than the light M2 barrel. If you want some direct proof that the cold barrel muzzle velocity of a 36 inch aircraft machine gun barrel firing M2 AP has a muzzle velocity of 2845 fps I'll point you to the firing tables in MIL STD 662.3 points

@algherghezghez Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, both maps are still in beta and relatively new. The number of those who fly helicopter campaigns at all is already very small, so we also have to make sure to reach as many as possible. The Syria map, however, has been around for some time and is widely used. It is also still being improved. Syria would, therefore, be a definitive yes from our side.3 points

As I just found out (thanks to @Kanelbolle and @sirrah) you can do this by exploiting an undocumented (let's be charitable) "feature" of the "immortal" command: If you put "immortal" as the first command in a group's Advanced waypoints, the entire group is invulnerable to both players and other AI if you put "immortal" as any other but first command in a group's Advanced waypoints, the entire group is invulnerable to AI, but can be killed by players. See here:3 points

Hi, to be honest the trim excursion is the real behaviour in the real aircraft, confirmed also by our test pilots. Anyway, we are aware that some customisation are welcomed for a PC simulator depending by user's hardware's and game style so we are going to include in few patches the possibility to customize the trim input through special options menu. However what you reported looks like a bug. I will have a check... I never experienced that Inviato dal mio ASUS_I005D utilizzando Tapatalk3 points

That's exactly how I move to look behind me during BFM in VR. In the F-18 now the head appears and gets in the way. Hope they can make the pilot head optional, for now I disable the pilot body during BFM. Also if they decide to remove the pilot head... it would be nice if the shadow of the head in the cockpit still shows just like it is in the F15E now.3 points

The brown band is for the live motor and the yellow band is explosive warhead. If it were inert it would have blue bands. We did a sinkex from Kaneohe Bay and our missile had a red radome. On cruise, the live rounds had grey radomes.2 points

Hi Sepruda, thank you for your feedback, we do use data and SME's to refine our flight models. If you think there is an issue its best to post a short track replay example of what you think is wrong and we can take a look. For any change we would require evidence that something is wrong, feelings just wont cut it, we often have people making claims and if we adjusted the flight model each time we would be in a never ending development cycle, so we have to look at the data and evidence. best regards bignewy2 points

Yeah, to me the nozzle geometry looks the same, as do surrounding elements. Probably the most likely issue. It seems to be present on all new models in the new format - the B-52H, S-3Bs, LPWS and the new S-300PS units are all similarly affected, whereby in promotional material (mostly teasers such as the Sinai map, 2023 and Beyond as well as the 2.9 cinematic short) the models are shown off in higher quality than what's seen in-game. New models in the previous .edm format are unaffected and appear just as high quality as they did in promotional material. We've already seen some examples with the B-1B - the B-52H also has elements that are low resolution textures in-game, but are fully 3D in teasers (such as the NACA ducts on the lower sides of the forward fuselage), the S-3B (ESM antennas are just a texture in-game, they were shown off in full 3D in the 2023 and beyond video), you can see 3D antenna elements on the new Big Bird radar (at least, I think so) and rungs and a higher-quality EOSS model on LPWS in the 2.9 cinematic short. It would be nice though if we could get an acknowledgement or update on this issue though, or whether or not it's intentional or whether it's being looked into.2 points

im on a reverb G2 and i dislike it alot. It feels like cheating. I can see groundunits from 50nm away, they appear to be WAY too big and noticable. Also there is a threshold when it will switch from the "plane" to the "dot", happens that the 10nm away dot is way bigger then the 1nm away plane.2 points

Thank you for your post. I tried the f-4 and the F104 VSN mods and i love them and if "heatblur F-4 is gonna blow almost anything out of the water" we will see when it will be ready some day in the future. The difference at the moment is, that you can fly these good quality VSN mods since a while.2 points

While I do agree with you in general, I just cheat. I turn on autopilot and altitude hold with buttons on one of my TM Cougars, (which obviously has the effect of trimming the aircraft perfectly [emoji6]), look down and toggle the switches. I haven't bothered to make a snapview yet, which also can be toggled in VoiceAttack while on flatscreen. Also, I don't remember if they keybinds are there, but if they are. We have had the option to make "on else off" logic ourselves for a long time in the controls setting. Select the keybind you want as as an off, press/toggle your physical switch to on, and choose "switch_number_off" in the drop down. Not at my computer, so no screenshot, sorry. Cheers! The reporting scheme itself seems ok I think: the so-called first reports the number of contacts (as much as he sees), e.g. 5 contacts, and after some time it gives the names: 1 truck, 1 AAA, etc. but we have an avalanche of information now. When I was flying from my airport for example, Petrovich's "mouth" basically didn't close, it gave me a headache because every time I had to read these texts (in VR you involuntarily look at them and constantly move your head to read the message because the content is above the visual field - top left). A request for only a report from enemy units, or at least a filter in the "Spacial tab" about what it should report and will be perfect, maybe like this(?): - full report, all: text only / voice only / text + voice or - enemy only: text only / voice only / text + voice I think it would work as separate text and the voice too if possible.2 points

Pipe dream here but with the grass/tree downwash effects it would be nice to have at least the gun smoke have a downwash as well instead of wafting up into the cockpit while in a hover. Brownie points for downwash on rocket/missile smoke as well.2 points

I would take an F-105D-31-RE to no F-105 at all! The F-105G would be the next most important and only other import variant, in my opinion, anyway. But I don't know when or if the 'G' could be made if technology in it is still classified...it would be a significantly different aircraft from the 'D', I think. The F-4 Phantom is a much more significant aircraft, I think, having been produced for both the USAF and USN/USMC to over 5,000 aircraft, right? I would hope Heatblur would also produce an F-4C and D, as well as the F-4B and J. Or at least either a C and J or a D and B. So, a total of at least 3 variants of the Phantom II. I hope. But for the -105, I think we'll be lucky to get just the 'D' at the "systems" detail level of the F-16C. Hopefully, they won't just make a 'G' and skip the 'D', though. Here's a link to a video some of you may not have seen called "Thud Pilots". Enjoy! I include it here in hopes that it might generate more enthusiasm for an F-105 in DCS.2 points

Update October 26, 2023 - 1: TTI SP v2.4.8a JTAC/AFAC Drones will now prioritize air defenses before targeting armor, then soft targets, then finally infantry. Option added for JTAC/AFAC Drones to prioritize air defenses or to choose targets at random. Prioritizing air defenses is the default setting. Extended the F10 Other - Menu options for JTAC/AFAC target status by adding options for the time to display the status pop-up, similar to the active target location options. Fixed an issue in the Caucasus mission where some F10 - Other menu options were duplicated and caused spawning issues. Added method within the RAT.lua to change whether certain RAT spawns start on runway, hot or cold on ramp. These options are not exposed in the mission settings, but can be changed in the lua for ease of future updates for the mission designer. Cleaned up the startup script and settings text and consolidated to a single text box. This status message can be disabled in the mission settings. Additionally, you can see the script and startup status of the mission via the F10. Other Misc Mission Tools and Utils Menu. Fixed an issue (DCS 2.9 OB) where kill messages were being triggered by A2G units hitting a player Any and all new features above have been updated in detail in the TTI SP Tutorials and Guides Documentation: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/177ydPq1tJsOli7tKKKAuPxybfOw2yAo52 points
