Detection based on radiation pattern of the antennas, power density of the incoming radiation and sensitivity of the detectors. The detection range will change depending on relative bearing and is not a linear function of emitting radar's range anymore. Detection limited to radar sources within the operational frequency range of the system (7.5 to 16.6 GHz carrier frequency, 740-8000Hz PRF). Solution sight gives you for S-13 and S-24 rockets is not accurate for these respective rockets, sight just gives you solution for S-8 mode. Here are a few screens of build 4.5 and its improvements . Updated the Single piece MFD to simulate anti-glare!. Added Animations to the K-77PD Ramjet variant of the R77 family, the extender now folds upon being inside the bays and open once fire. Slowly adding more modeling parts to the cockpit including rear section, reference real pictures. We also now have our own Canopy Ejection animation and shape of that of a SU-57 Canopy and not DCS provided. Next will be the pilot and Seat. And little thing i added to the external pilot and more to come.7 points

Howdy folks, I created a new weather mod to give us a little more variety in what we have currently. Hopefully you enjoy this while we wait for ED to give us a proper update to the weather system. This Weather mod includes the following features: 38 new weather presets for scattered showers, overcast/rain, stratus clouds, cumulus clouds, altostratus and altocumulus clouds. Cloud base altitude and thickness limits increased for all presets Fog visibility and thickness limits increased so you can create hazy atmosphere affects Six new density settings tweaked for scattered and isolated thunderstorms Rain and Thunderstorms precipitation now available for all cloud density settings Installation: Recommended: Use OvGME or other mod manager and install to DCS root directory. Make a backup if installing manually! To create thunderstorms: 1.) Select NOTHING from the Clouds Preset menu 2.) Configure the base altitude as desired 3.) Adjust the thickness to something between 15000-30000ft 4.) You can choose any density setting but I added six new ones. Density 11 - 16 are tweaked for thunderstorms 5.) Will Jesters SA calls be worked on in Jester 2? Currently, they are not much use, basically telling you where the bandit was a few seconds ago and no directional calls. It would be great if we could get some calls that accurately positioned the bandit allowing for a delay in looking and more importantly his direction , IE, Bandit 2 o’clock crossing left to right, or left hand turn, etc etc…….3 points

In this note on the development of the La-7 aircraft module, we'll discuss its secondary function as a fighter primarily, focusing on the use of aviation bombs. Compared to the I-16, which has broader ground attack capabilities, the La-7 is equipped with a minimal bomb control system and only two suspension points. In practice, these are often loaded with small 25-kilogram cast-iron AO-25SL bombs. The aircraft's armament also includes FAB-50 and FAB-100 bombs. Bombs are released simultaneously by pressing the bomb weapon button on the stick. Power system monitoring and bomb release are managed through indicator lights. For emergency and non-explosive releases, the ASI-140 release mechanism with a cable is located on the left side of the cockpit. I'm sure you're already aware (i.e. just commenting on that people complained), so I'm just adding for the sake of the thread: One should not expect to be successful defeating an AMRAAM with a notch in almost any situation except the absolute most perfect situations (the real defense uses BVR timelines and kinetic defeats - this by the way is public release information). People who are complaining really need to be ignored by ED, this is meant to be (as far as I'm aware) a digital combat simulator not a "hardcore airquake" video game.3 points

While older planes certainly need a bit more skill, learning and patience to operate, they can have a great advantage in this regard: Usually here one switch does one thing, and even if there seems to be more stuff on the surface, there is less complexity altogether. I have too many modules, and I often realize, after not flying a 4th gen for some time, that I can't remember the DMS left short + TMS down long + China hat forward + boat switch aft + blink twice + clap 3 times HOTAS command I would need for the mission... maybe it's just me. I never forget, how to operate the MiG-21 or the F-1, all I need is usually 5 mins of aerobatics, to build back muscle memory. That's much more fun for me compared to relearning the HOTAS. So, learning curve is steeper but useful knowledge is less perishable I think.3 points

I remember when P-47 or Fw-190 was coming out, we could see screenshots videos many many months before early access release, so when ED haven't posted any of those so far, i don't expect release at least 2 years from now, unless ED went in to incognito mode by not sharing any of the ww2 progress.2 points

Unfortunately there's a limitation with how the lock into a seat function works with mission creation. You need to make sure to follow the instructions and switch to the RIO position before you continue with space. If you advance the mission before you do that this happens.2 points

On the bombs, but not the JTAC. IRL the code is fixed on GBU-12/10/16 etc. It is dialed in at the bomb and can't be changed from inside the cockpit. More and more modules simulate this real life limitation, by allowing adjustments to laser codes on loadout only on the ground. Now, if you have multiple aircraft armed with LGBs they will deconflict the laser codes between aircraft or flight according to the mission. Now in DCS the AI JTAC will always use 1688 as his laser code, whereas IRL he will get the code from the aircraft he is working and adjust his laser code accordingly. The only way to do this, currently, is to either script a "laser point" with a frequency with out using the AI JTAC or manually with Combined Arms and have a player do the JTAC role. If we could get an F-menu-option to tell the JTAC our bombs' laser codes, it would be fine. It could simply read the available codes from the loadout and let us select the appropriate one for the JTAC, just as an idea.2 points

I would also like to add my two cents. Interesting article, because it's revealing how differently people perceive things. On the main topic: I personally think the F-18 is well made and with its versatility and ability to land on a carrier, I think it is far from boring. I didn't like the F-16 in the first place. However, I really wanted to use the CBU 97 and so I learned the F-16 somewhat reluctantly. And lo and behold, with increasing practice I really liked the Viper. Nevertheless, I still love the AV8B Harrier II the most. It's relatively slow and has no active radar, but hey, I like the thing. We should never make the mistake of lumping all the real machines together. Each variant has its time and history. Shaped by political circumstances and given budgets. Under the right circumstances, every machine is a lot of fun.2 points

For my part, I really hope to see a fix for flights on multiplayer servers, which are practically impossible to play since the arrival of 2.9. This major issue has been reported and ED has promised to fix it.... so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will be the case in this update.2 points

I got a question, though. If I take a look at the top cover, the throttle movement would be roughly half way of the total movement range until hitting the AB-detend. That would correspondent with the MIL marking in game, but in game the throttle moves roughly 3/4 of the total way before the afterburner detents are hit. Are you sure you got it right? If so, does it have a fine enough movement range to actually do the adjustments for carrier / formation work?2 points

I'm not the biggest Hornet fan, but one thing it definitely has that makes it interesting is the sheer variety of weapons it can employ. LGBs, JDAMs, HARM, CBUs, JSOWs, SLAM, SLAM-ER. Harpoon, Maverick, rockets (including the big ZUNIs), gun, AIM-9, AIM-120, on and on. It does all of that AND lands on the boat. You've got to admit that it is a very versatile aircraft. Additionally, it has almost unmatched performance at high angles of attack, making it the premier "knife fight in a phone booth" fighter.2 points

For example: Clock times: Only from 08:00 to 17:00 Seasons: All Wind: Only calm to light Wind direction: Any Rain possible : yes And each time the mission starts, the conditions would be randomly generated only within these parameters.2 points
