Good Morning All, Yes, Beldin notified me of the great news the other day. USS Fitzgerald has been outfitted with Naval Missile Launchers and successfully launched a Naval Strike Missile. Thanks for sharing. It brings back memories. We had an amazing crew onboard. There was nothing we couldn't achieve. Most of us have kept in touch after all these years. I transferred from the USS Fitzgerald 24 years ago. So it's been quite a while. I will update the USS Fitzgerald 3d model with the new Naval Strike Missile today. Easy update. On another note, I haven't been able to work on models the way I want to. Life got in the way. I did have enough motivation to finish up the USS Henry J. Kaiser Class Oiler T-A0-187. I will finish her today because tomorrow morning I have another back procedure. Depending on the outcome I may be down but no matter what I will find time to model. It's my therapy. My advice to all of you. Please take care of your health. Get regular checkups if you can. Don't let diseases sneak up on you and take away the things you love doing. Especially doing things with your Family. Stay tuned I will release the USNS Henry J. Kaiser today.13 points

For CSAR this would be amazing. Now that rotorwash is added, It would be incredible if smoke interacted with rotor wash vortex. Anyone heard on this, news or plans? The little details always add such immersion. I love CSAR, always hated hovering in or above the smoke and it just lays there. Or is there a mod? Arma added this a decade ago and it was always exciting to see it work during helo extractions. https://youtu.be/HK1FB3-ugZM?si=XcJszxmoCvQgUsbF6 points

I disagree. Never before has there been such an effort. Before Jester dual seat aircraft used ‘cheats’ by giving the pilot controls he never had. Can he be improved sure but I think him quit capable and enjoyable. DCS has bigger AI problems then Jester.5 points

Have a look at this...I am working on a script and will share it once I get it ironed out. It actually look fairly straight forward and easy but I just have to have time to do it. https://github.com/walder/Skynet-IADS?tab=readme-ov-file#adding-a-jammer Sierra Sends3 points

If you don't like him, note that you can disable him completely. You can then operate both pits yourself if you want. Some users prefer doing that. The Phantom, and especially Jester will continue to be improved significantly throughout the Early Access period :)3 points

most likely its the FC3 clickable cockpit mod, that has not been updated for dcs 2.9.6 … do you have that mod enabled? https://forum.dcs.world/forum/919-dcs-f-4e-phantom/3 points

Thanks, HighmaintenanceB. As long as I'm able I will keep pushing them out. It may be slower but I will continue creating mods for DCS. Sure, I can make two versions. It will just require two models of the USS Fitzgerald. I didn't get a chance to mount the NSMs today because I was busy with the USNS Kaiser. Initially, I had the strike missiles mounted aboard the Type 23 Frigate but I removed them because they weren't installed at the time. I can update it with the NSMs. **** I have released the USNS Henry J. Kaiser T-AO-187 with liveries of the USNS Joshua Humphreys T-AO-188, USNS John Lenthall T-AO-189, and USNS Andrew J, Higgins T-AO-190. USNS Henry J. Kaiser T-AO-187 is a United States Navy Fleet Replenishment Oiler and the lead ship of her class. Her mission is to resupply U.S. Navy and allied ships at sea with fuel oil, jet fuel, lubricating oil, potable water, and dry and refrigerated goods, including food and mail. I tested the AH-64, KA-50, and the UH-1 Player aircraft onboard and the FPS was pretty good for me. I received the best FPS using the KA-50. Please enjoy every one. I will try to finish the Italian Warships next. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.2 points

No need to apologize. While the Phantom is an exceptional module overall, HB seriously lost the plot when creating “Jester”. Instead of focusing on creating a competent simulation of the second crewmember, they chose to focus on creating a personality with predictable results. Of course, those who participated in the creation feel slighted when his obvious flaws are exposed. That doesn’t mean those flaws are not real and pressing and it is a bit ridiculous for Zabuzard to suggest disabling such an important feature because you don’t “like” it. Jester isn’t a real person. He is a set of instructions meant to perform required tasks. Ascribing human emotions to a player’s relationship to a bit of code is part of the problem. Either the code is fit to purpose or it isn’t and, quite clearly, Jester falls short when the purpose is “simulated competent WSO”.2 points

With the playable Viggen, the naval environment in DCS has grown a lot more important. And with some of the aircraft in development it will continue to do so. Here are some suggestions for better interaction between aircraft and ships, e.g. aircraft trying to kill ships and ships trying to kill aircraft. Let's try to keep this topic limited to things that improve the naval environment as seen from the cockpit, so no drivable ships, ASW etc. -The range of air search radars on most ships in DCS is way too small. For example, the Grisha and Krivak have a range of only 30 km, the Kuznetsov just has 25 km. It seems ships have been given search radars with a range of 1.5-2 times the range of their SAM system. Even small corvettes like the Grisha should have air search radars with ranges in excess of 150 km. -Ships should be given the ability to receive the EWR task in the mission editor (but not have it by default), so that they may act as GCI for both player and AI aircraft if the mission designer wishes to do so. -The minimum engagement altitude of all ships SAMs should be reviewed. In DCS it is possible to entirely avoid the S-300 SAM system of the Moskva cruiser by staying below 30 meters above sea level. The Osa SAM can also be avoided by flying at 10m. Since these SAM systems are designed to intercept sea skimming missiles, they should have no problems to intercept sea skimming aircraft. This is possibly related to naval SAMs being direct copies of their land based versions in DCS. The naval SAMs should be implemented as unique variants with their own respective stats. -Ships should employ chaff and defensive jammers to defeat incoming anti-ship missiles. Command Modern Air/Naval Operations does a real nice job at this. Missile seekers, defensive jammers and CM are all assigned technology levels, then the game rolls a dice with respective modifiers whether a missile was decoyed. It is an easy system, but serves to reasonably model an aspect of tremendous importance in naval warfare. -Sensors, radiation management and ESM are some of the fundamentals of modern naval warfare. While this is probably out of scope for DCS and requires dedicated wargames such as Command Modern Air/Naval Operations, there is one feature from CMANO that would translate well to DCS. An EMCON state that is assignable to ships. Under EMCOM ships would cease all radar emissions while keeping their weapon systems active. If their radar warning equipment picks up the signals of an anti-ship missile, or if the ships spot one visually, they automatically turn on all radars to engage the threat. Once all detected threats are destroyed, the ships return to EMCON state. This makes ships harder to find and classify with ESM/RWR gear, while they retain the ability to defend themselves. -Ships should be able to temporary turn in order to bring aircraft and missiles in the arc of fire of their air defense weapons. So a Grisha V that is approached from the rear would turn 30° degrees in order to unmask its forward SAM launcher. Once the treat is gone, it resumes its original course. -Ships should engage air targets with their dual purpose naval guns. -The Tarantul III /Molniya is missing its quadrupel Strela-2M/SA-N-5 SAM launcher.2 points

I would pay for a refresh for sure. Really it only needs the graphics updated since the FM is amazing as is and the sounds were just done. Give it the same logistics treatment as whatever the chinook is getting and shes good to go for another ten years.2 points

GenericGambler is the name, I've always been obsessed with capturing the magic of DCS in its raw form, so these are only a couple out of the 10.5 thousand I've taken over 3 years. - The F/A-18 represents the visual beauty of DCS World. - The three F-4s represent the wonderful community of DCS World. - The F-15E represents the awesome DCS artists I've had the privilege to witness soar to new heights. - The Two Mirage F1s represent my commitment to bettering myself as a virtual and real-life pilot. - South Atlantic just looked cool - Finally, the E-2 represents all of my friends at Digital Controllers, who have broadened my horizons tenfold and allowed me to share my passion with the wider community. While someof these may look uninspiring, they all hold a special place in my heart.2 points

Dev Update 1: Systems and Flight Model The EFM is responsible for the simulation of the flight dynamic model, engine model and aircraft systems. In early 2022 we started the development of the unique modular EFM framework that is used by the T-38A. It is specifically designed for the simulation of different aircraft types, providing dedicated simulation models for various engine concepts. Using this framework as a foundation, we've already completed different aircraft in the past 2 years: Two variants of a supersonic light fighter jet that is privately operated by the Virtual Turkish Stars. A high-performance turboprop trainer that is privately operated by the Virtual Silver Falcons. A piston engine light utility aircraft that is internally used as an initial testbed for new features. Within the framework, the aircraft is simulated by combining numerous logical components. Each component has its state and is responsible for a dedicated functionality. It reacts to environmental conditions and user input, triggers corresponding animations and most importantly simulates its behaviour. Each component is self-contained and can be reconfigured for the particular use case. This approach allows us to reuse many of the common components shared across the different aircraft, greatly increasing the fidelity of the implementation with each iteration. Flight Dynamic Model The flight dynamic is defined by over 25 stability and control derivatives. For the T-38A we’re using derivatives in non-linear form that take into account the angle of attack and the effect of Mach. These coefficients have been accumulated from various sources: Manufacturer wind tunnel tests U.S. Air Force flight tests Empirical estimations based on the aircraft geometry CFD analysis To make sure the flight dynamics closely match that of a production aircraft, we're using the results from U.S. Air Force stability and control tests and the handling figures of the flight manual. In addition, we’ve implemented several characteristical traits of the T-38A, including: The infamous stall characteristics with buffeting and high sink rate. An accurately recreated yaw and pitch damper system with variable gain and interconnected aileron and rudder. Flight controls with authentic deflection curves and variable deflection limits depending on the flight condition. Throughout the whole development process, extensive flight tests are performed by the Virtual Turkish Stars to identify and iron out any handling discrepancies. System Model To achieve a simulation of the aircraft systems on a near-study level, we’re following the “device and conquer” principle: The different systems are broken down into their elementary components, each individually simulated with a well-defined responsibility without the need to know the overall system state. The electric system is correspondingly a combination of numerous switches, circuit breakers, two generators, a battery and a multitude of electric devices as consumers - all connected to two AC and one DC bus. As an example, the 24 Volt battery has a capacity and is either charged or discharged, solely depending on the arriving voltage - regardless of whether it's powered by the generators or the external ground power. Likewise, the fuel system is comprised of fuel valves, several fuel cells, two boost pumps and - connected via fuel lines - the two jet engines as consumers. The hydraulic system consists of hydraulic pumps, hydraulic lines and hydraulic actuators like landing gear, gear doors and control surfaces. We are excited to share more in the future! Thank you for your overwhelming support!2 points
