I will no longer require subscriptions to join my discord, God ok il set everything back to normal, i cover costs for file hosting and was trying to get that back but i cant afford to have DCS community hating me . Please understand im just a guy alone working on all this with a laptop and nothing else. Stay tune for friday and the release of the SU-57 Standalone and its Asset packs.5 points

We are working on some performance issues after the last patch which are not related to multithreading, hopefully you will see improvement in the next patch. There are some bugs still with MT version which we are also working on, but as mentioned ST DCS has come to its end and will be removed. We continue to focus on fixing any issues that are reported with MT DCS. thank you5 points

Dear CH-47F virtual pilots, Although the DCS: CH-47F has been released, there are certainly important features that will still be added and improved during the Early Access period. To help better understand the status of the project, we’ve created a roadmap to ensure clarity. As with other roadmaps, we will color-code items based on their status: Green – delivered. Blue – in development. Gray – to be developed. Our roadmap features are as follows: First Person Pilots and Crew Models. Additional Paint Schemes for Several Countries. Improvements to the Advanced Flight Control System (AFCS) including automatic turn coordination. Addition of the Digital Advanced Flight Control System (DAFCS) Core Functions that include automatic turn coordination, airspeed hold, and pitch attitude stability, and LCT. Longitudinal Cyclic Trim (LCT) actuators that adjust rotor tilt automatically allowing the fuselage to be level, even at high speeds. Differential Air Speed Hold (DASH) allows a more natural cyclic position as airspeed increases. (WIP) Addition of the Digital Advanced Flight Control System (DAFCS) Native Functions that include inertial and radar altimeter holds velocity, and position hold. Engine Air Particle Separator (EAPS) system. Addition of the Digital Advanced Flight Control System (DAFCS) Flight Director Functions provide MFD steering commands to the flight control computers while coupled to those selected cues. NOTE: Native and Flight Director build upon the Core functions and are not independent. Complete main MFD pages and sub-pages where suitable for the simulation. Multi-Crew Gunner Positions. Additional Gunner Weapon Options. More Interactive Training Missions. More Instant Action and Single Missions. Full Manual. Muti-Point Sling Loading. Flight Engineer Sling Load Door. Operation and Look Out from All Non-Cockpit Doors by Flight Engineer. Extended Range Fuel System (ERFS II). Fire Extinguishers. AN/AVS-7 Night Vision Goggles (NVG) Monocle with Symbology Kind regards, Wags Updated 7 August 20255 points

Just an unsolicited appreciation post. I was using the C-101 for IFR training over the weekend (well, it's a trainer, isn't it) and I was reminded (again) what a labor of love this module is. Really flying by the numbers, managing the limited amounts of power while utilizing the superb flight director really is very satisfying. btw. is it still maintained/ in further development?4 points

No one's hating. Trolls crack open in the sun as we say in Norway. I really hope to see go full fledged 3rd party one day. Day one purchase for me! Keep up the good work, and thanks! Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk4 points

Please understand we are not a huge company, it takes months of work for pilot models, adding more choices is certainly something we want to do, but we also have to decide what is priority regarding new art. thank you4 points

I'll take a look. Don't know at the moment, we'll see. I'm currently working on updating the Swedish pack. I haven't planned to add these ships, but I've planned to add Zumwalt. I have an okay understanding of the Lua programming language, then I just study EDs code. Yeah, I would like to add more, but there are some issues, more countries means more asset packs to maintain, and it's not always easy to find 3D models for assets from certain countries. I'm currently updating the Swedish pack, after that we'll see were I go next.4 points

I have no issues with the inclusion of female or ethnic diverse pilot models, not in the slightest. I wouldn’t even care of the pilot would be randomised at mission start. It wouldn’t affect my gameplay or experience with DCS at all. I enjoyed Tomb Raider back in the days as well as Indiana Jones or Uncharted. Ot just doesn’t matter to me. I wonder though if I could even tell if there is a male or female underneath the helmet and flight suit? And I wonder even more of what relevance this is to high fidelity flight sim where the focus lays first on the Aircraft and Systems and second on putting warheads on foreheads. This isn’t a story driven RPG or Adventure, nor is it Sims or GTA. I think the whole discussion is a waste of energy related to DCS. There are other, more relevant, battlegrounds for this.3 points

Yes, I understand. Was just telling you that ST and MT use the same Saved Games folder. (Game settings). I understand that many users just want the game to work without tinkering with their computer. I, on the other hand, am an IT System Admin and don't mind issues. I just want to know how to fix them. [emoji6] Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk3 points

I know for some folks feel uncomfortable about it, but when on a desktop system, I would really encourage people to disable the power service. This process is responsible for all things related to power savings. Including such things as putting hdds or monitors in suspense mode. The issue with this process is two-fold. First of all, when you're interested in ultimate unrestrictive performance, you don't want any of your PCs features to go to sleep. Almost more important than this is, that this process is notorious for flushing the system with interrupts which can lead to (micro-) stuttering. Last but not least, the service can be easily disabled and re-enabled again. Though enabling really only makes sense if you are concerned with power saving.3 points

Thank you Hiob for your compliments! Yes, sure, we keep maintaining it, and improving it from time to time.3 points

Having Pilots visible to all players after eject would be great especially for Helicopter rescues and if you have to do an emergency landing being able to get out and relocate to be rescued. I also support the ideas of being able to get in and out of the Plane/Helicopter at the start and end of the mission as long as it ties in to some form of briefing/debriefing options (even if it just a teleport animation like the old Arma 2 model). Being able to have an in game multi player briefing with interactive maps etc would be really helpful. Is this the idea for the Briefing room when it comes in the super carrier model? I could also see this as part of the process for the input of data in to the data cartridges as a collaborative in game thing.3 points

It's not that simple. There's a lot of things that need to be considered, especially the experience and report of pilots. That nose gear is held in position with an actuator that uses position integration logic, meaning you don't have to account for the extra force because the actuator does most of that on its own. There are accounts of it being very difficult to steer via the brakes when NWS was engaged. There were some situations when NWS would occasionally turn off if the aircraft was too light. They had to use brakes for steering, and in this condition, would notice sticky brakes. There is also a geometric consideration implemented for hard landings to stabilize the aircraft when one wheel touched down first. To help prevent roll over on hard touchdown, the camber shifts on the main gear during depression and becomes more positive. Additional to that geometric gear design, the lean of the aircraft itself also contributes to more positive camber on the heavy side and more negative on the light side. This causes both tires to push slightly in the direction of the heavier weight and results in a countering yaw. Heavy left wing -> positive left wheel camber -> right yaw. However, the moments produced by these effects are far too weak to overcome the actuator. A strong sidewind is much more likely to cause problems than any of those, especially tire drag. Tire drag to weight isn't typically documented or studied because they are usually negligent compared to tread patterns, speed, and temperature more than anything, and are very small forces in total. I think you are making assumptions of physics that are more in-line with cars that have flat tires and no power steering. You give your overweight friend a ride and suddenly realize you have to hold a slight tug on the wheel. Older aircraft like the Phantom and Warbirds were known for this because of older tire designs and manual linkages, but the Hornet and Viper were not known for it.3 points

Folks as mentioned when we first started on the multithreading journey not all PC's will see improvement, with that said the team have made huge improvements during its testing in the public build and we have been getting some great feedback from you all. Some of you are still seeing issues and we will continue to look at your dcs logs and dxdiags to see if we can continue to improve or find the reasons some people still see issues. Please also understand there are many reasons for stutters, not all are related directly to multithreading, and can be system setup, settings, hardware, third party apps or mods, scripts and many more reason, it is not always easy to find the reason for a particular problem. Ive just returned after a weeks holiday and I am currently catching up on last weeks events. I will continue to look at the issues some of you are having and highlight them to the team, so if you are leaving good bug reports with a dcs log and dxdiag thank you, it is very helpful. As soon as I have clearance from the team regarding the next patch I will update the patch status forum post as usual. thank you3 points

Been wanting to cover this for a while to clear some things up. I am 47Driver on YouTube, some of you have been watching my videos on the DCS CH-47F, (I really appreciate that), and everybody wants to know about all these weird acronyms that I mention, along with many others. First of all I want to point out something in regards to the flight model. I see a ton of complaints about how unrealistic it is, etc. Yes, the FM is very WIP and that is what it is. Tandem Rotor physics are straight up wizardry. This is far and away the most complex flight model that ED has ever tried to replicate, and I can say that confidently as an actual Pilot of this aircraft and someone who understands a fair bit about aerodynamics. Tandem rotor helicopters are very weird, and what I'm seeing in the flight model so far indicates that the devs have done their research on how these helicopters behave when none of the things that are built in to help you fly are working, which is true in the module's current state. Please keep that in mind as you fly this thing. AFCS: Automated/Advanced Flight Control System. This alone is what makes the Chinook so easy to fly. Put your feet flat on the floor, don't touch the pedals, and fly all day long. Thanks Turn Coordination. She's very smooth, steady, coordinated, and controllable when this system is on. When the AFCS in DCS is fully fleshed out, it's gonna make a huge difference. DAFCS: Digital Advanced Flight Control System. Super cool autopilot(ish) functionality. Basically allows us to capture current Inertial Altitude or Radar Altitude, maintain low speed over the ground via TRC or Translational Rate Command, or capture current position over the ground via P-Hold. P-Hold + Altitude mode = perfect hands off hovering. We also have a full 4 axis autopilot via Flight Director for cruise/instrument flight. DASH: Differential Air Speed Hold. As you increase speed, the DASH, (a long tube in the flight controls with an actuator on each end) will decrease in length. You'll notice eventually when this is modeled that as you increase speed, you'll actually start moving cyclic backwards towards center and the aircraft will keep the speed. Pretty nice and allows us to fly with a more neutral cyclic position. LCT: Longitudinal Cyclic Trim (Actuators). As speed increases, the LCTs will extend, this will increase forward tilt in both the fwd and aft heads. Allows a more level fuselage at cruise and reduces stress on rotor system. You'll be flying at 140kts and the fuselage will be completely level with the horizon. No more staring at the ground 10deg nose low anymore. When you land, the LCTs drive to the GND position, allowing easier ground taxi. When you hover, they drive to the RET position to facilitate a level hover attitude. DCP: Differential Collective Pitch. This is mostly why the Thrust Lever is called the Thrust Lever and not a collective. DCP comes from longitudinal cyclic input. Forward cyclic increases collective pitch on the aft rotor system while decreasing collective pitch on the fwd, and vice versa. So basically, the cyclic is also a collective... Hope this clears some things up and helps you folks understand why the flight model feels so weird right now. With most of these things not being implemented yet, because I'd imagine they're all very hard to simulate, the Chinook is gonna fly a little weird. I'm still having a great time with the module and I'm very excited for more systems depth to be added, so I can continue to share with you guys. Thanks! 47Driver2 points

Please. Other people dont have to be able to see it, but if you can have it so we can walk around outside of aircraft and enter back in to it, it would be such an extremely awesome epic thing that i just have to suggest it in this single thread. Particularly for helicopter pilots, this would be an extremely awesome addition. PLEASE.2 points

FWIW, I've a few women in my own DCS circles. I'd absolutely support adding an alternative model to the game, my only question would be how much in the way of resources would it require be dedicated to it and for how long. There are much more pressing issues, but I'd still want to see the game accommodating its playerbase fully.2 points

I disagree, being inclusive wont attract more females to this sim, cause if they are not interested in military aircraft sim and gaming you really have a tough job. Imagine there is some forum mostly used by female members of our society with topics like fashion or fingernails (just mentioning stuff on top of my head, hope no one gets offended) and they decide to be more inclusive to male members of our society, you think that would interest me for example? I can tell you right now it wont, and they can be as inclusive as they want I'm not gonna discuss anything in that forum. People are trying too hard to be as politically correct as they can that they don't see the big picture, they are throwing them selves over their heads to be politically correct... happens in all aspects of the society and it is not something good cause it usually neglects whats important just to to stand out. I really don't see the point of more females in the sim, I don't mind them here off course but I don't see the point if they are not interested. In this sim I want people of any gender and race that are interested in military simulation, if that means 99% male Asians, or 99% female Mexicans I really don't see a problem there, I'm interested in the sim and that's enough for me.2 points

MT, for me, has been an utter nightmare. Unplayable. Tried it a few times and each time it devolved to slideshow framerates every couple minutes or so. I never made any changes to any settings out of concern for it having a knock-on effect elsewhere. Single Thread has always been smooth as silk. I'll wait and see for when MT is the only show in town. I'm generally positive that ED will have ironed out the vast majority of the issues I and others have been experiencing. I'm always in favour of utilizing the available hardware efficiently and understand that this is the way to go.2 points

Good afternoon, @zyll That is basically what I have been looking for for ages now! An automated way to get the file sizes in check! Thank you so much for pointing me in that direction I ran the script through my DCS folder and noticed the following results with regards to my original 4 points as laid out in the first post: 1. Less hard stuttering whenever I fly the CH-47, AH-64 or the OH-58 around the new Afghanistan map due to smaller textures being loaded in/out om memory or the SSD. 2. VRAM usage going to a manageable 13-14GB instead of instantly running to the 16GB which is the max on my GPU. RAM usage down from 40GB to 30GB. 3. Game loads slightly faster, though not a huge deal. 4. Total game size on SSD reduced from 861GB to 804GB. The texture conversion took my 5800X3D less than an hour to complete. The aircraft and cockpits look nearly identical and you really have to put them side by side to see the difference but the advantages are huge IMHO. @BIGNEWY and @NineLine This is not a huge ask of the team. This way we can still fly around using high texture settings with clear readable cockpits. It would be a huge deal if someone could please have a look at an optimized texture resolution and format option especially with the newer modules having ever larger texture file sizes. Even compressing all textures from 32bit to a much more manageable DXT5 or similar would be a plus. Can you please let us know if there is anyone looking into this? It shouldn't have to take 1,5 years plus to do what the community has done with the script and freely available tools (many thanks to @Zyll for pointing it out and @zbysiek for creating the awesome script) Kind regards, Vincent van Veen And two more shots from the AH-642 points

I found a good source of "replacement" files. Recordings of AFRV (American Armed Forces Radio Vietnam). Of course, there's commercial music in them, so it is up to the end-user to choose one and replace the radio station file. It's pretty awesome that it's per-mission too, as there are A FREAKIN WHOMP TON of these recordings. Days worth. Not even kidding. Aside from the music, they're public domain, as it's government material. And easy to convert the .mp3 files to .ogg. Audacity is free and can do it lickity split. EDIT: Okay. Not as simple as I thought to convert the .mp3 files to .ogg. They're quite low volume, and need just a slight bit of processing to increase the volume. It can be done in Audacity easily. https://archive.org/search?query=subject%3A"American+Armed+Forces+Radio+Vietnam"2 points

Right! I tested myself on the newest update. You guys are absolutely correct. Up above I get steady 60+ FPS, and going down low it drops to a steady 19FPS. It wasn't like this for me when the F-4 initially dropped. For good measure I tested Kola, (damn those textures really looks like winter here in Norway, with a couple of flaws). Steady 45FPS medium hight, guess the trees take a toll, and going down low it fluctuate, but not less than 30FPS. So, somethings up with the SA map for sure. Hello @Snakedoc We've analysed your track and concluded two things: The amount of induced compensation for steering is not really that big. It may be a matter of your personal taste but it's actually in line with such an asymmetry you selected to use. Of course you need compensation with such a weight on the right side. You must account for the extra wheel friction on the right side, especially above 20kts as you demonstrated in your track (about 35kts). All in all, the team feels this is working correctly and no change is needed. It's also generally speaking, common sense, that the F-16 should not be too asymmetrically loaded, at least not with such a difference of more than 1000lbs.2 points
