Once airborne, I have the cowl flaps almost closed. Juuuust a crack open. Oil cooler is something between 25–33 all the time. However, I monitor the Temps closely and when they start to move closely to the end of the blue, I adjust accordingly. Keep in mind, that if you fly higher and use the supercharger, you need to open the intercooler, too. When you get in for landing and Airspeed drops significantly. you need to open the coolers wider, especially the cowl flaps. You can cease the engine even on roll-out.

Save a LOT of people a LOT of grief, please.

Exactly what Raven wrote. Binding Controls is pretty easy in DCS (compared to the frickin' awful MSFS crap at least). Just start with the basic axis controls for pitch/roll, pedals and throttle. And then the secondary flight controls as Raven mentioned. Maybe add Master Arm, Trigger and Pickle button.... Then when you are flying and want to do something, just pause, go into the controls setup and find the function you want to use. Take it one step at a time. -
Not sure about that. The Navy only switched to the base turn approach (instead of a straight in) as a solution to the obstructed view by the long nose of the corsair afaik. So basically it was invented during the pacifik theatre. I assume the Japanese Navy used straigh in approaches for the most part.

Does DCS benefit bigly from OLED?
Hiob replied to Beirut's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Make sure, you use a blank (black) screen as screensaver with a short enable-time when in Desktop-use to minimize wear and tear on the panel. Apart from that I don't have any special care taken for the screen. -

HDMI 120HZ That's a little downside to using a TV. The panel is the same or even better, but you lack some of the monitor specific features, like DP or auto-off with PC shuttdown. A Trade-Off that is worth it for me, but perhaps not for everyone. My recommendation would be to buy an decent OLED TV from last season or even the season before for a huge discount. Just make sure you have at least HDMI 2.1 120Hz and G-sync-compatibility. -
Does DCS benefit bigly from OLED?
Hiob replied to Beirut's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
In all seriousness. Forget about the “burn in” fear mongering. My OLED (48” LG TV) is almost 4Y and has zero burn in. Apart from that, investing in a big OLED was the single best hardware upgrade I ever did. it is just awesome. You don’t even realise how bad LCDs are (in color and contrast) until you used an OLED. However, the perfect contrast may mercilessly expose any bad picture (e.g. banding is even more noticeable). Especially when you usually play at night or in a dark room, you will absolutely love OLED. (Of course that’s my personal subjective opinion, but I think recommending OLED is as save a bet as it can be) p.s. going big is probably also a big part of the great experience. That’s why I went for a TV, it’s much cheaper when you go big. -
Same, but I'm not sure how that'll work out with the login. Do you have any experience with that? Can you keep playing offline (I mean without account login) indefinitely?
-
Given you have access to the older install of DCS, and as long as ED doesn't cease to support it (by means of granting online access/login), yes it is true. But there is no guarantee for how long it will work....

DLSS 4 global override easiest method without Nvidia bloatware
Hiob replied to RealDCSpilot's topic in Virtual Reality
Thank you, I just wanted a quick verification that the DLSS swapper worked (which it did) and the Nvidia Driver didn’t overwrite it somehow. (Which it didn’t). I guess there are several paths to success. -

Thank you. . That was kinda obvious, now I feel stupid…. But nevertheless it worked. Piece of cake actually. -

Quick question: I tried DLSS Swapper today and changing the DLSS runtime for DCS was suspiciously easy. Is there a way to verify it is actually working and using the correct runtime? -
All those numbers are completely pointless, unless providing a VERY specific scene + settings. A trackfile in the best case. I won't specify my GPU (cause it is irrelevant) but I can easily have the FPS fluctuate between 160 and 80 in the same mission, a split second apart, depending on where I look. Better phrasing: Judging GPU performance and comparing fps-performance of different GPUs is only useful, when done with controlled parameters, like scene and GFX settings. Throwing anecdotic numbers around tells nothing!

Are there any game-related differences between the F4U-1D and F4U-1D_CW?
Hiob replied to tigershark1-1's topic in F4U-1D
I think it was to improve roll-rate. I can't think of any other flight dynamics benefit. The induced drag is smaller with rounded wingtips if I'm not mistaken (that's why the spit has them in the first place I guess). But I might be completely mistaken - that's out of my league to be honest. -
It's a game (with different shortcomings) either way. That's a pointless discussion. SP has its values, MP does too. (E.g. droping warheads on foreheads is not the only part of military aviation, I would dare to say it is the smallest. So if your interest is aviation - flying a particular aircraft in the first place - SP pretty much does the trick. (Personally I would love to see a proper ATC for that reason, but that's beside the point) I don't want to, but just food for thought: There several different ways to do muliplayer. Public servers (PvP OR PvE), private servers or even closed groups from 2 people upwards. How it goes depends pretty much on the people and what you're trying to achieve
-
Yep, that's it. Mirrors and cockpit displays (like TV or Tads e.g) fall into the same category in that they need an additional render viewport (and therefore reduce fps)
-
Oh ffs, the doomsayers are on the run again. Please, if you don't like DCS or can't wait for it to fail - Just. Walk. Away. But please stop trying to convince everybody else that it is flawed or doomed. When you have specific things to criticise, by all means, go ahead, idealy provide evidence and suggest solutions - but this passive aggressive dramatization, please no!

I think it is "Resolution of Displayes" or something like that, that you can switch between 512 and 1024....
-
Thank you for the fleshed out answer. That was pretty much what I assumed. It doesn’t matter. I’m still absolutely hyped for the Modul. Any chance for new(er) info on a release date?

Ahhhh, my eyes.

btw, seeing the big radar nose in the thumbnail.... I assume the C-130 has a weather radar? If so, will it work in the DCS environment? Probably no....or?
