It is 2 movements. 1 with the thumb on the catch to release the lever. 2 with the hand on the lever. Not that difficult. ..

We don't have the long range tank, (No 12), fitted in the bomb bay. It will read zero on the gauge, when 100% fuel is carried. ..

This one is easy to answer. Realism. I don't have a real Mosquito, so this is the nearest I'm likely to get and I want to make the most of it by operating it as I would the real thing. The catch is there, because people did raise the gear whilst still on the ground. The catch is released after lift off, as I'm sure you would tell your students and that is what I do. I have the switch button on my right hand side. This leads to a wobble when raising the gear, as it did IRL. I also use the stick lever to operate the brakes, not pedal brakes. Do 3 point landings, not wheelies, because that's how it was done in WW2. Etc,etc. Research manuals and historical books endlessly to to try to replicate the real thing and get it right. All this leads to immersion. I'm not in a sim, I'm in a Mosquito. But this is your sim. Fly it however you like and enjoy it. Regards. ..

Release that rather important safety catch and an accidental knock of the wheels up lever, in a busy cockpit, will result in a very difficult take-off. ..

Shot by the Gestapo or burn in the wall, it's your choice. The hole is in the wall and the bricks are on the floor, but the flame effect is a bit over done, as a prisoner would be, if he tried to run through this inferno.

Britain doesn't have a flying Mosquito, but there is a NFII, which almost flies, that you might be interested in. ..

To allow French prisoners to escape from Amiens Goal, the wall had to have a hole blasted in it. This could only be done with low level accuracy and 18th February 1944, was the date chosen to do it. This shows the last part of a 75 mile flight across France from the coast, following the original route, at treetop level. ..

No fluke. Practice. At low level, (30'), sights are irrellevent, but reference points are required, which are gleaned from recce flights beforehand. In this case, because we have no timers, I'm using Toss Bombing instead. This will throw the bombs ahead and allow me to escape the blast. Fly alongside the road, (keep it on the left) at treetop height and high speed. Pull up on your reference point, (cross tree line). Release at 10 degs. using wiper blades on background as reference. Watch replays and take screenies, for study, then repeat untill you can consistantly hit the wall. The real mission, dropped at 30' and skidded the bombs along the ground, which was the most accurate way to do it. I read an interview with an A4 pilot. "How do you attack Viet Cong posts with retarded bombs and Iron sights at such low levels?" "You can't use sights. You just get a feel for it." Release Point.. ..

Run in on Amiens Goal at 30' AGL. 3 500 lb bombs hit 1 tree. ..

Bang goes the wall.

The real raid involved dropping bombs at 30 feet or less and penetrating the walls of the prison to allow the inmates to escape. The bombs would skid along the ground and penetrate the walls and explode on 11 second timers. None of this is available in DCS. A low level attack will result in self destruction. Here we have an alternative version. Toss Bombing, 4, 500 lb bombs on to the target.

135 mph is the speed for a fully loaded aircraft. 125 mph is correct for a plane in the OP condition. Full flap gives high drag and is the way to go for a grease landing. ..

To enjoy the Mosquito to the full, you need 2 things that DCS has never had. Fuse Delay and Skip Bombing, both of which were used in the Amiens Raid and both of which have been requested for many years. ..

Do you know what changes are likely? ..

@NineLine That track is a year old and completely buggered. I ran the mission again and the Elephants showed no interest in their original targets, the Higgins boats, so I ran them into the sea, where they drowned. Quite sad really. So it looks like it has healed up over the past year. ..

Using AGM-65F today, I'm getting 10 nm lock @ 15000', which is slightly better than before. So I guess nothing's changed with the DMT/Mav F launch and missile itself. ..

They can also attack ships and land targets, whilst swimming. ..
