I am not 100% sure on this one. I think every ED patch update refreshes the campaign to its base state, so you'll need to update these after each update. If you prepare yourself to edit those mission objects after every ED patch, you'll be pleasantly surprised you don't have to do it .

Open using your favorite zip tool. The .miz is just a .zip file renamed for DCS.

Mistermann replied to tobi's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Gentlemen.... you've set the bar high here because of your history. Thanks for what you've done and are doing for us (the community). As others have indicated, there's genuine excitement regarding your "baby". Personally, I'm trying to temper that excitement a bit, but it's difficult. Really looking forward to release day. Wishing you the best! -
Until Stone updates his campaign to support this (he may not want you using the FCR in his campaign, BTW), this might be an easy fix if you're willing to edit the mission file itself. Before doing this make a backup of the .miz. Also, if memory serves me, every DCS update will overwrite this change so you'll need to keep track of the changes and re-apply if an update reverts this file back to "base". Open up the miz file and extract the "mission" object. Edit this object with a text editor like Notepad++. Find all entries for ["FCR_RFI_removed"] = true, and replace the word true with false Save the "mission" object Replace the "mission" object in the miz with the one you just saved Fly the mission and enjoy the FCR I tested this with a simple mission I had and it worked just fine - YMMV.

Paid campaigns are locked. You can't edit with ME. There may be a way to update the mission files themselves, but I am unaware of specifics. You should reach out to the campaign creator directly, I suspect.

DML - Mission Creation Toolbox [no Lua required]
Mistermann replied to cfrag's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
I am constantly amazed at his dedication. Huge thanks to @cfrag for what he does for us. My DCS experience is better thanks to him. Definitely a member of my community hall of fame ! -
There's a nasty "in zone" trigger bug ED introduced in the last 2.9 patch. Supposed to fixed in next update. Many missions are unplayable at the moment. What you described is likely caused by this bug.

It definitely has, but I had never seen a short video showing the capabilities. I am hoping this gives people an idea of the power outside of just reading it on a forum. Plus the fairly new Speech to Speech addition has been a game changer for me and I wanted to socialize.

How many of you wish you could put together compelling missions with deep voice acting, but just don't have the bandwidth to gather friends & family to voice all the parts? Or maybe you've experimented with more traditional text to speech (TTS) tools resulting in voiceovers that sound like the WOPR from that old movie "Wargames"? Well, if you have, this thread is for you. Keep reading. TLDR Give AI TTS tools a try if you haven't yet. Elevinlabs works great for me. https://elevenlabs.io/ Details For those still with me, thanks. A little background on me. I am a LONG time DCS guy with a decent command of the ME. I've made hundred's of missions over the years 99% of which ever get posted/shared. Not because I am selfish, but because I just can't create the kind of mission that I believe stands out from all the other posted missions. Missions that stand out to me are those that tell a story. Missions that are experienced, not simply just flown or played. That experience is often heavily influenced by voice acting, radio traffic and creative ME randomness. To me, that's what often separates the memorable missions from the average ones that we all forget after a couple days. Until recently, I thought there were just two Voice Acting options for us mission designers/makers: 1) Leverage volunteer voice actors to get a variety of content and eliminate hearing the same actor over and over, or 2) Use TTS (Google, Microsoft, others) to create a limited set of voices that if I'm honest about it, still sound artificial and are stoic and rigid. As someone who's lent their voice to several official DCS campaigns and understand some of the planning/work/effort/patience, I can say I just don't have the time, nor the social network, to go with option 1. I've never really experienced a TTS mission that immersed me. I really try to overlook the robotic sounding audio content because I know how hard the creator worked to even try TTS. I'm just always looking for a middle ground. Something that sounds real, but doesn't require the work that your favorite campaign creator puts in ... I need something "good enough" to immerse and "better" than traditional TTS. Here's my answer ... AI voice tools. https://elevenlabs.io/ Please note, I do not represent this service in any way whatsoever. I am a happy customer - that's it. If you're interested in rich voice acting without the need for actual actors, here's a compelling option to consider. I've subscribed for almost a year and during that time have seen significant improvements to their offering. I was amazed by their initial offering of TTS, but have been absolutely BLOWN AWAY with their latest feature they call, Speech to Speech. Now, the proof here is in how these voices sound, so let's jump to a different medium where you can actually hear what I am talking about. For those that have interest, I direct you to a brief video below. Hope you find this information useful.

Oh wow, that's a big miss on their part as a lot of missions/campaigns use that trigger. Must not be a priority (or more difficult to squash) as it wasn't in the 2.9 hotfix. Bummer. Thanks for the info, @rob10.

Hey @Jenson - Happy New Year! My buddies and I are picking back up after a few months hiatus from Operation Hormuz. We're on Mission 17. We are experiencing some trigger issues when jumping in Hawk1 jet. As soon as I occupy that jet (and do nothing else), the mission thinks I have fenced in and starts issuing radio messages as if we're into that zone. Not sure if the latest 2.9 changes have messed with the triggers, but it appears the mission thinks one of these three groups is "in" zone "FENCE IN". This is on a non-modified version of your mission. I even re-downloaded it just before posting to make sure it hadn't been updated/fixed. I made a video of the experience in case this helps diagnose. Thanks for taking a look.

How to reduce the haze on all maps
Mistermann replied to Kurdes's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
@Kurdes - thanks for posting this! I am a big fan of Taz' work, but somehow missed this one. I can't believe how much better Syria, PG and Sinai look now. -
Like others, I had high hopes for ED's voice chat. I am also in the "doesn't work for me" camp. I am the only person in my group that experiences any issues. Regardless of what I do, I cannot hear anyone over voice chat. I have a painful workaround that works, but isn't practical [outlined below for anyone interested] After 2 months patiently waiting for a fix, I convinced my group to move to SRS (we were using Skype ... hey, it worked ). I setup SRS on my client and my dedicated server and all I can say is WOW and THANK YOU @Ciribob! I am kicking myself for dealing with the workaround for as long as I did. Trying to hear voices and cockpit sounds from my desktop speakers while wearing a VR headset with built in sound was a nightmare. Not to mention how disturbing it was to the rest of the house hearing RWR beeps and the colorful language at high volume. Do I expect ED to eventually fix this? Absolutely. However, like all things with ED, its all about time. Personally, I don't expect them to fix this anytime soon. I suspect my issue is some sort of edge case and likely years from resolution. Hope I am wrong. However, until that date comes, I am thrilled that Cirbob created SRS!

DCS Detent Calculator *Updated for the F-15E and Special Options*
Mistermann replied to JCofDI's topic in DCS Modding
I setup my STECS using DCS and avoided using the VKB software completely. Years later, I am still scarred from their software experience setting up my Ultimate stick. I am glad I could accomplish this while avoiding VKBs configurator tool. Now, I only have a single detent and nothing fancy, so YMMV here if you're looking to use multiple detents. Personally, I am happy with the results. All my aircraft are now setup and I enjoy the STECS detent because of the hard work from @JCofDI [Oh, and thanks to your Algebra instructor(s) - I hope you reached out and let them know about this ] -
Also want to say a big thanks for letting us know how to update our existing SLmod servers! Saved me a headache.

Set variable from within a running mission
Mistermann replied to Captain Orso's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
@cfrag has a real time debugger as part of DML. It allows you to manually update a mission flag while the mission is running. Do a search on DML as I don't remember exactly where it resides. Edit: it's pinned in this subforum. -
Introduced in 2.9. it's standard behavior in OB.

I am just stopping by to report in. The issue I reported earlier in this thread (linked below) is not resolved. I don't suspect ED intended to resolve it in this latest patch as it wasn't mentioned in the patch notes, but I didn't want to assume here. @BIGNEWY, just in case the team wondered, the issue is still alive out here in the field. Thanks.

I just started hosting the incredible Pretense dynamic campaign on a dedicated server machine. Stumbled on this tool. Looks great. Tested it out to load missions, pause the mission when no clients exist and extract stats. Seems to work well. Thanks @Grimes!
