Bit of Yak-52 love over Caucasus mountains in heavy weather
Kang replied to lankypilot77's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Nice. A bit too rough weather really, but you managed. -
How could I change red coalition color to other color?
Kang replied to Hydrox's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Right, I'm the one with 'no brain' after your original post of 'Title.'. Could have said you had a problem with the contrast on the map, assuming that you are suffering from the more common red/green deficiency, but no you instead wanted to bait that, right? Frankly, if you had, I could have given you a more walkable method of increasing contrast about that. -
I noticed yesterday that using the individual on/off keybinds seems to be working the wrong way around, though. The button on the stick moves correctly (as far as I can tell), but the actual smoke seemed to be the wrong way around.

How could I change red coalition color to other color?
Kang replied to Hydrox's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Uhm... why? I mean, there is blue and there is red. That's it. There are no further factions/colours. In theory that could possibly be modded, but it's most probably much more trouble than it's worth. -
Why dosent Matt Wagner use the forums anymore?
Kang replied to IkarusC42B Pilot's topic in Chit-Chat
I mean, have you seen the forums lately? (Just kidding, kinda) -
ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)

Visual representation of my answer to 'how has your week been?' -
It's almost as if the solution to something literally saying 'air defence system' on the box might not be air attack. (Yes, yes, it works perfectly fine for most of the old-timey models, but that is mostly because you clobber them with space weapons from the future)

Hm, not so sure if that really was an interesting read. Let me give folks the short version of the article: «Why are Toyota Trucks so common in wars in the Middle East?» They are good cars and they have been common for a while.

Main point of the Su-33 coming with the Supercarrier module is the updated Kuznetsov, really. Personally not so much interested in adding a modification that somebody might be doing to a similar aircraft.

Conveniently the controls in the Huey are all in sections depending on where the switches are. The ones you are looking for are called: Windshield Mode Increase Windshield Mode Decrease Also: Wiper Mode Selector Up Wiper Mode Selector Down

What will cause an AI aircraft to abort mission and RTB?
Kang replied to Hoggorm's topic in Mission Editor Bugs
SEAD missions are unfortunately especially prone to this specific AI problem. Not only will they abort per se, but they also tend to jettison their stores to go evasive easily. One might find it a little bit silly that a flight specifically sent on a SEAD mission and equipped with state-of-the-art ARMs decides to throw both away at the first sign of a SAM battery. Try all of those AI options available until they do anything reasonable. I found sometimes you have to set them to react to no threat at all, which comes with its own problems. -
Test pilots and ground commanders needed in the EU area.
Kang replied to Raven King's topic in User Created Missions General
Are you sure that is the actual IP address? Because it looks a lot like a LAN IP to me. -
Just as a heads-up to everyone: thanks to HC_Official's efforts and help from ED the server is back up and running now. Good to have it back!

That's not really much of a modding topic, to be honest. You can set up a trigger in your mission to send any audio file via radio on a specified frequency. Granted, it would be mission-specific, but it's the easiest way.

While the effectiveness of the miniguns has been drastically reduced in past updates, I believe the damage log window can add some further confusion here. At least in my experience hitting them for officially '9% damage' is in fact enough to end a paratrooper. This is similar to how different vehicles will be set on fire (and thus doomed) at different percentages of damage dealt to them.

I'm pretty sure the C-101 trainer jet in DCS has this feature, perhaps even the L-39. It's true that you can just as well set the actual outside visibility to zero in the sim, but if you multicrew it the advantage is that you can have an instructor who can see to check for any errors in real time.

Both the 'Close Canopy' and 'Open Canopy' binds seem to be opening it now.

It seems this server hasn't quite come back up from the 2.7 update last week. Not sure if it just needs some 'manual enticement' or the automatic real weather script is a little distressed with the new weather system.

Allow MP Integrity Check (IC) Exception for Kegetys VR Shaders Mod
Kang replied to fearlessfrog's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Feels a little pointless to have any sort of integrity check to begin with if everybody gets to pick their exceptions from it. -
Wait, are you saying they work even less than they always do?

As StevanJ pointed out the two helicopters differ significantly in their roles. So if you enjoy guided missiles cracking tanks, state of the art systems and getting into the thick of the fight, the Ka-50 is your bet. If you enjoy hauling cargo or passengers and getting into hair-raising fights with comparably easy enemies, the Mi-8 is the ticket. I'd also like to point out that between these two the style of flying them is very, very different indeed. The Mi-8 flies like a helicopter with all the little troubles that come from it. The Ka-50 on the other hand is highly automated and between the trim system and the coax rotors you have to worry less about helicopter dynamics and more about operating these systems correctly. Not in the running but honorary mention: the Huey is - in role - comparable to the Mi-8, but being much smaller and nimbler it is much easier to learn, although the principles of operation are the same.

It's not impossible for sure. Some of the ships certainly do it.

Would you pay for an additional Version Pack for a module?
Kang replied to Mig Fulcrum's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I agree with the notion that these polls tend to be a little odd. On one hand a whole lot of options are not included, on the other hand the options that are seem to be awfully precise. Anyways, yes, in general I could imagine something like that, but it's hard to give it a definite yes. There is just a whole lot of variables for me: - What module are we even talking about? (I know the poll is meant to gauge general interest, but for a lot of modules I own I don't feel need for more versions) - What alternate version would be on the table? Is it that one I love for some reason, or just one for the sake of completeness? - Is it something that gives me an actual new experience? Is it a subtle change? My general answer is yes, good idea. But the pricing question has way too many variables going on.
