  1. It used to be one of the tactics either trail (to hide behind others in radar shadow) or close formation (to represent one target). For the first you can change aspect but they still can fly toward you and adjust formation but they can't hide if you have a wingman or datalink. For the second your radar will eventually separate the targets when close enough. The whole idae of mobile Carrier Battle Group is to make sure no surprises ever happen. That means constantly gathering info from intelligence, satellite data, long range radars, AWACS, having AEGIS and patrol flights especially when there's high chance of the attack and also far enough from the enemy territory. Letting Bears as close as 50nm to the carrier is fiction. Having Tomcats as the only protection also is. Leaving carrier as a lone ship... yes, fiction too.
  2. First off, DLC is not a surface. It's a system. It uses inner sections of spoilers to control lift. Yeah, when you engage it it moves the spoilers to the middle position, so it adds some drag, but it does so you can easily control the lift from there by either increasing it or decreasing by the spoiler movement up/down - that's the primary reason, braking is just the side effect compared to DLC off. https://heatblur.se/F-14Manual/general.html#dlc-direct-lift-control It's there to help pilots with easier and safer Tomcat landings, period, not to brag about "I did SHB without even touching DLC ".
  3. According to this info: it will be new cockpit, external and pilot model.
  4. Thanks ED and @currenthill for your work on the assets, this is great news
  5. Have you missed that ED is working on Marianas 1944 free map and paid pack for PTO assets?
  6. Night missions are very challenging but fun and rewarding. They were done since the dawn of airborne warfare. That you can't see much works both ways - the enemy can't see you. If the aircraft is not suited for it you have to rely on the map and navigation. Some can use air-to-ground radars. Some can use NVGs. Some are perfectly suited for night missions - try F-15E and its full package: TFR, A2G radar and NAVFLIR projection on the HUD + NVGs.
  7. If you run DCS_updater it will do just that - update DCS and quit. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/repair/#1883673
  8. No, they are in the process of integrating them into DCS.
  9. Thanks, that's most definitely new cockpit. Compare to the current FC MiG-29:

Be specific. You want the cool icons on the important parts? The interaction like removing the RBFs or touching elevators? Some of it is not even job of the pilot but the ground crew's.

Depends on how detailed you want it. If you demand full pilot animation from the ground up the ladder and into the cockpit - that's a bit diffent for all aircraft and can take some time and resorces. I wouldn't bet on it. If you just want to get in/out instantly and walkaround there's nothing to develop - it's all in DCS code already (taking control of the vehicle, camera/view movement and pilot walking animation).

This should be core feature for all aircraft --> https://forum.dcs.world/forum/1027-dcs-wish-list/
  13. It's a mess currently with the newer module's textures "low" being similar quality to older module's "high". More, even the one setting gives you some textures lower or higher depending on the part of the aircraft/cockpit. We'd have to have very detailed settings for each of the aircraft parts/cockpit to keep control of the quality vs performance or get it all overhauled to keep some standard.
  14. DCS cannot control where you hang your VR.
  15. You're right. Just tested F-14 and KC-130.
  16. Guys, time to reveal a secret for you:
  17. Confirmed all of the above having first person pilot body available, thanks @Skuva: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/293841-list-of-paid-aircraft-modules-that-support-visible-pilot-body-for-vr-users/page/2/#findComment-5636565
  18. Works for me in Edge, Chrome and Firefox.
  19. This is where you quit, save a track and upload here.
  20. Yeah, not all of them are player drivable but most are - you can check if the "Player can drive" option is there in ME. If it's the only vehicle in your mission you'll start in F7 ground unit view - then you can hit Ralt+J to take control, no need to go into F10 map.
  21. Never. Modern Syria should have different lighting than 80s Germany. Or do you mean something specific?
  22. I wouldn't call it lightly loaded just because you're not hauling bombs. Techinically if you're launched overboard just below stall speed you still have 70 feet of altitude to get there.
