Quite agree . I came out of vr a couple of days ago to find the room dark . RiftS was still tracking perfectly in DCS .

There is no such thing as better or worse . They all have their pluses and minuses , and your individual usages , preferences , ipd and cranial physique all must be taken into account .

I've had experience with Vaicom Pro on my previous pc . It is an incredible addition to immersion and works flawlessly until a DCS update breaks it . 2.56 broke it for me , and i fiddled around for a couple of hours to get it fixed . Then after months on 2.56 , I gave up on it and reverted to stable-and broke VA again . Tried manually pointing it to no effect , and dropped it as i was building a new pc . I do plan on installing VP on the new pc (now built) , but i have been putting it off because the installation is so problematic . Think it took me two days to get working the first time .

One of the core features of DCS is the clickable cockpits . Among other things , this allows new users to use entry-level Hotas , as expected . And yes , even with lots of hotas buttons , you will still be using the mouse for some functions . Note : FC3 aircraft (and soon to be MAC , are Not clickable .

I don't have the stang , but i'm certain you could get answers in its dedicated subforum on the main forum page .

Welcome to the forums ! Given your experience level , let's start with the basics . Does DCS run on the laptop screen ? If so , have you checked "use vr headset" in the vr tab of the DCS settings ? If so , do you have WMR and Steam VR running ? If so , are you seeing the vr mirror of DCS on the laptop screen ? For further help , i'll defer to the Reverb owners , but wish you good luck . I suspect you are in for a heck of a ride learning pc's , DCS , and VR simultaneously :)

May i suggest that you copy your post into the input/output > cockpit builders forum ? I think it much more likely you will get a response there .

Should WINWING sell HOTAS seperately???
Svsmokey replied to WINWING's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Is Virpil ? VKB ? It means there are other grips in the works...hornet grips are also available on that page , and also "out of stock" . Sounds like they're getting ready to sell everything separately , just as we wish and offer alternative throttle groips , and doubtless stick grips as well . -
I and others have found that the toe-brake axis generally needs to be iinverted .

Not planning to buy a RTX3080Ti anymore
Svsmokey replied to Wali763's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I understand clock speeds are to be 2ghz+ . 50 % claim is for rasterization . Some interesting usages of the tensor cores in that vid as well . -
I have no experience with that card (i used the Oculus-recommended Innatek with the CV1) , but the cameras will work on usb 3.0 , as that is what the Innatek used . Driver issue perhaps ? And a question . Did you cable the molex ?

Moore's Law is Dead has a new vid on YT that seems to provide the best estimation yet of performance gains to be expected with Ampere . Very interesting . Bottom line : 50% -
Not planning to buy a RTX3080Ti anymore

A big factor in my choice to go with a top-tier next-gen gpu is preparing for the DCS implementation of Vulkan , with its further demands on Vram . -
Not planning to buy a RTX3080Ti anymore
Svsmokey replied to Wali763's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I am committed to flying in vr , and i do plan on getting a next-gen top-tier card . I further am happy with the state of headset development at this time , although i do look forward to further iterations (Oculus reverb-level resolution ! ) However , i do take your point regarding DCS , and fully agree . My problem is that i enjoy flying on the deck , where the performance demands are the greatest , and that is not much fun as it might be in DCS . The Huey free-flight mission in Tblisi , for example , reveals what an incredible effort ED put into the map's realisation , and artwork down to bark on trees . But the constant shimmering , warping buildings , aliasing and flickering shadows completely ruin the experience . It is certainly no better in the Hornet at 300 feet and 300 kts than in the Huey at 50 and 50 . I am building a system to take advantage of Vulkan and multi-threading implementations for the long-term , but i am not sure if even that will be enough , and even if it is , it will be at least a year before we see the results of the former , and likely multi-years for the latter . I fear that ED's focus on being both a study-level flight simulator , and a mega-Arma development path simultaneously will overtax any forseeable hardware-at least in VR . The only thing that might make all that possible (at some point) would be some form of 1-gpu-per-eye , or a more efficient aa in the rendering pipeline , or both , which goes back to your other suggestion . In the meantime , as much as i love DCS , i am looking at other sims . -
Thus it is , thus it has always been , and thus it ever shall be...

Absolutely not ! You should say that dress looks horrible on her :) Never say SHE looks horrible in any context !

It's a pdf isn't it ? Just use the search function .

OE-XAM helicopter rudder pedals
Svsmokey replied to Razorback's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Have you considered the VKB unit ? Much less expensive and a lot of positive feedback on this forum (particularly for helos) . https://vkbcontrollers.com/?product=vkb-t-rudders-mk-iv -
A: yes , the base engine is very large B: You can choose to uninstall them in the DCS Module Manager .

Machine guns keep firing long after I release trigger
Svsmokey replied to fencible's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thanks ! Did not know this . I will look for the momentary option . Using modifiers in other aircraft has occasionally been troublesome as apparently the default is "maintained" .
