Using buttkicker in DCS
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to markturner1960's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Market and free? The payware solution has been around for years providing plenty of joy for many users. We are lucky enough to have simshaker for aviators working for free on dcs (check il2 or bms). If you are into tactile feedback, and $25 is a hill too steep... Think globally, it's just a small amount in the whole budget -
Using buttkicker in DCS

For me, when ASW is off, anytime I move my head, the cockpit becomes blurried. If I keep my head static, image is fine. I set aws forces to 40hz, then the cockpit image is crystal clear no matter what, but external fast objects, like enemy planes on dogfight, and planes launching from carriers, got blurried

Most simple solution would be having dcs audio via regular speakers. Secondly, if you are willing to keep dcs audio via headphones, you can connect your mic, and mess with windows recording and playback options to force that mic input to be put through the headphones the other guy is using. Another option would be using a software called Voicemeeter banana which is used to mix audio channels, but never used it sorry

Using buttkicker in DCS
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to markturner1960's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don´t particular remember if the trial version of Sound Module allows for that. Anyway try choosing Sound instead of USB, and if you have a Jetseat or similar device, don´t forget to check "Simultaneous output". Then move to the other tab [Effect Settings], and you will see two columns, one for Jetseat effects strength, and other for Soundmodule strenght. Check Andre website for the specifics of the trial version. -

Why and how to use pedals?
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to dlder's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For Tomcat they are a must. For VTOL Harrier too. Some like rudder input for refuelling rather than dropping the wings. For warbirds, I suppose so as well. More modern jets, they are less used, but always good to have them. For other sims, I liek flying Cessna 152 on MSFS, they are a must as well. I don´t think it´s a good idea dogfighting twisting your stick and applying roll and pitch input at the same time though. -
as far as I know, no. I use simhub to drive 6 bass shakers for my simracing rig. For flight sims, I own a Jetseat, no issues here with SimShaker for Aviators, free. For bass shakers, buttkickers, body shakers... yes you can feed them by only audio, but that´s like limiting them for 25% of what they are really able to provide. Not to mention you need to mess your audio settings otherwise they will rumble with your Teamspeak, Discord, SRS, Vaicom... audio input. So yes a cheap USB second sound card and amp is mandatory, as well as paying $25 for Andre Simshaker Sound module so you can fine tuning multiple effects, and particular for every module you own. This software also has a free limited trial version, so you can test you shaking system before paying any amount. Available on Andre website Go for it, it´s an amazing inmersion booster for the money. The aprox $350 buttkicker pricetag is not expensive as it provides a very convenient plug and play solution. Whatever fits your budget, your DIY solution could be around $100. Behringer amps, Buttkicker 2ohm concerts, pro isolators, Clark synthesis shakers... and we could be perfectly talking on $1000 range.

All fine but the UFC specifically looks mega . congrats!!

The flight computer definitely needs to have zero stick pitch input to engage a/p balt

Using buttkicker in DCS

$350 is not cheap but obviously a very direct and simple solution. I dint notice any lag due to simshaker software. For me it's Mandarory to fly -
about to retire the Warthog stick and throttle
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to dmatsch's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
real F-16 is Realsimulator FSSB, which has been around for quite time. But it´s so specific I´m afraid flying others like warbirds or helos, is going to feel awkward the twist stick is doable for helos, but I don´t recommend it for others. I would stick to pedals. It´s not coincidence most top tier sticks don´t have twist. -
Only thing that comes to my mind is voiceattack with bailey's or similar profiles

Probably a Really Basic USB Question, but...
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to Cavemanhead's topic in Home Cockpits
I have one which feeds my stick, 3mfds, ufc and Jetseat. During some flights my stick disconnected/reconnected, or sometimes the Jetseat stopped working. Then I bought another one for rudder pedals and external soundcard, and got one mfd down there. No issues from there. Both USB hubs are powered. Don't buy one which is not, it's mandatory for our high demanding devices. -
the vr body looks and feels fantastic, thank you!!

You may need to delete the f16 mfd. Diff file from your dcs installation, so next time you fire up dcs, the default configuration is empty

Rooftop helipads besides Burj Al Arab?
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to Colonel Akir Nakesh's topic in DCS: Persian Gulf
Pretty sure you have one NW of Dubai international. There is a mission called Dubai dispatch where you fly the role of a huey ambulance pilot, and that rooftop pad is set at the hospital you work from. -
Vibration pad/chair make it easier to fly?
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For big units no, you need the ndiy approach, buying the shakers and Amps separately and wires and fixing structures. The budget range is very wide. Clark synthesis and behringer amp and we are talking about $1000 investment. Dayton audio exciters and nobsound amp, hardly $100. Then you have pads to cover your seat with smaller rumble motors, such as Andre Jetseat and simracing studio pad -
Could you share some pics of the inside regarding the head and buttons and wires?
-
no idea but I will follow this as Im planning upgrading my DIY collective with that board for extra buttons. I also built one for simracing, using Steam and Assetto Corsa Competizione, and never found an issue. However I use OculusVR instead of SteamVR, Rift S user here.

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
Ala12Rv-Tundra replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Another tactics are magnetic usb ports, or installing a short extensor so once you are done flying, remove the extensor instead of from the pcb fragile conector. Also installing the adhesive pad with a cable tie as a stress relief. Check discord where others share their methods. And yes miles provide plenty of spare parts, sadly it's a common issue- 3421 replies
