Interior of Mig-29A (9.12):

In hot starts (when plane is powered up and ready to fly) the Main power is switch is set to forward position (labled as MAIN PWR). The middle positon (BATT) is intended to test the FLCS (Flight Control System) functions properly on battery power only (in so called cold start, before starting the engines). Master Caution light is eluminating only because you did not yet arm your seat as sirrah explained.

HUD question about judging bank angle...

Great observation, I think thats a bug. VV should work in all modes, I don't see any reason why it would't. @BIGNEWY can you guys check it out? -
Oops! My AIM-120C just went for the wrong target
skywalker22 replied to sirrah's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
As far as I know, and as far as we have discussed here on this forum, the AIM-120C-5 made by ED can only follow one target. If it looses lock, it goes stupid. In contrast to it's real counterpart, which after loosing lock, tries to find any possible target, friend or foe, it doesn't matter, since missile has no clue what type of aircraft has reacquired. One more worth mentioning, if there are two or more contacts close to each other, in the heat of the moment, it's very easy to pick the wrong one, and if you are not double or even tripple checking which one you locked, you will not even notice you chose the wrong one - I know I cought my self at it lots of time. Anyway, using Tacview always helps in situations like this. @Hobel that video is a bit unclear, would be good to have a full tacvirew file, so see from all the angles what was really going on there, but it indeed kind of show that the missile lost lock to one aircraft, and picked another one. But hard to confirm from only this angle. -

I would say no, as said, I've shot hundreds of them, and never noticed that it would switch the target. -

Not true. I guess you are not much on very crouded Growling Sidewinder server. I have spent lots of time there in last 3 years, I can say Im there at least 3 days/week, for at least 1h each time, but so far I cannot accuse anyone for a friendly fire. And the same goes for me. So your statement is far from being true. But this is not the OP's point, he is says that he locked and fired amraam on bandit, but the missile then changed its course to someother target, which by his words, was a friendly. @sirrah it's a shame you don't save replays, don't hurt you know, specially in cases lik that. I have them turned on, and delete them manually ones in a while anyway. Without that we are helpless. -

Would be very helpful if you would provide us with a track. Or even batter with a Tacview file. There you/we can find lots of answers. For now all I can say from my experiences, and I shot thousdands of AMRAAMs in DCS from multiple platforms, something like that has never happened to me. So it is a bit strange, and only the track, even batter tacview, would help explaining it. -
Which folder does it need to be renamed? ...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\F-4E\Sounds\sdef\Jester\contacts This one? Renaming it into what?

Haven't even thought of any other option.

RAZBAM Situation Post Archive (will be deleted)
skywalker22 replied to Rhinozherous's topic in RAZBAM
What is the main reason all this has happened, why Ron Zambrano had started it? I still don't get it. -
Are there only UHF frequencies on F-4E and no VHF?

Tacan navigation - air refuling still not working
skywalker22 replied to skywalker22's topic in General Bugs
Copied from here: KC-135 can still give us bearing and distance in DCS. So this bug is going on for years and hasn't been fixed yet. And to contanct the tanker you have to set to Transmit/Receive mode, which is not correct either (it should be A/A only). -- Another thing about the Tacan: So which TACAN frequency sets the Tanker if I have to set on 64? Does it sets to 1 as well (63Mhz apart)? I'm asking becuase in mission editor if I set the Tanker to 1X, I also have to enter 1X (in F-16, which I fly the most) to get the distance (and the bearing !?!) to the tanker. -
Guys, report bugs here: https://kola.orbxdirect.com/

I hope the map does not come out this month when we get updated Sinai and SA, maybe even Kola

Wow, crazy mechanical solution has to be behind that Never thought of that. Thx so much.

VRP: This time around I set the Elevation to zero feet, and it seems that RP point and Pull up point seem to be fine. Didn't know the elevations are deltas, now it makes more sence. -- What about the VIP, how to set the elevation for it? How do I determine the elevation of the target? EDITED for VIP: as far as I understand, Target point is also elevation relative to the IP point (also a delta as we called it in previous posts). So what to insert in case if the IP point is higher then the Target point? It should be negative value, right? To insert a negative value, we just need to press the "0 M -SEL" on the ICP twice. Mr. @Wags what do you say about it, am I right? Asking, cause I didn't test that yesterday, and I won't be able to do that today.
-
I get it for the RP (in a way). But what about for the IP? Does it take into account the waypoint from which I'm going to (in my case waypoint no. 2)? Its easy to do that (like Wags did) at the sea level, but on the higher terrain it can get way trickier setting the correct altitude.
-
VRP is also not OK. I can drop the bombs (surely, since waypoint is over the target), but the guidance of VRP is not ok. Whats wrong: - RP point has the same "issue" as I described in previous post for IP point - Pull up Point not working, I can see the circle, but gets lost on the way to there (same as for VIP)
-
I tested VIP ones again and I must confirm there is definitely something wrong. I tested this custom mission 10 times, always same result: not even close of dropping the bombs. I also tried without PUP function, and the same thing (PUP is only for some orientation when to pull up, it can be easily flown without it). Whats wrong: - target point way off - there is a circle for Pull up point, but gets lost on the way to there - IP point is on the correct azimuth but there seems to be an issue with elevation: inserted value for the elevation is ground depended (radar altitude, and not barometric altitude - IS THAT OK??) My examle: target was 2368ft MSL, and inserted 2368. But IP point was 2368ft over the ground there, which means it was 4736ft MSL. What elevation should it be inserted, MSL or over ground? - maybe is this the cause of all my problems?

[Fixed in next Patch] Engine stalls mid air, jester ejects
skywalker22 replied to skywalker22's topic in Bugs & Problems
Got it at the end of the track Jester ejects with no particular reason, his last words: "Good luck".... ps: tracks erased (if needed, contact me) -
Whats the advantage of having that huge city? I don't see any (yet). It only kills fps. I miss more diverse terrain, we have here 90% all flat.

They have to hurry up, Afganistan is coming.
