Is it recommended to put V-sync on in-game with a VR headset? Does it end up affecting anything?

VKB Gladiator NXT Springs and AA refueling
unlikely_spider replied to Sr.'s topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
If I remember - didn't they come with three? I have medium stiffness, but am also using a mount that doesn't move. I can do AAR just fine. For tabletop use, lighter may be better. -
Hey, I just got mine replaced by HP for the image blackout issue and I got the old cable

Should I buy an AMD card if DCS is going Vulkan?
unlikely_spider replied to parxuk's topic in Virtual Reality
What does this mean? Will it be covered in coal dust or something? -
I'm traditionally a warbird and vintage pilot, but the F-14 is an amazing module. You get the rare combination of visceral warbird-level stick and rudder feel along with the BVR capabilities and raw speed of a modern jet. Operate from carriers or land. Campaigns. Training missions. You just can't beat it. To the OP, how much have you spent on hardware? The F-14, especially on sale, is a drop in the bucket compared to other expenses in this hobby. Vote with your dollars and support the hard-working devs of modules like this that make our hobby possible. Edit - I didn't expect to be into the Tomcat as much as I am. But to ED's credit, it was during a free-to-play session that I tried it and immediately thought "holy crap, this thing is damn fun to fly". And systems aside, the thing is simply gorgeous when it comes to visual fidelity. If there ever is a court case where developers of shovelware are on the stand, this module could be Exhibit A as to how things SHOULD be done in the industry.

Yeah, two of my three PCs at home won't be up to the Win 11 requirements. Luckily my simming PC should be ok though, but my other two are no slouches really so it's kind of a surprise. They just have slightly older Intel CPUs. This is kind of a departure from the requirements philosophy of the last few Windows releases.

Just because Steam works on Linux does not mean that all Steam games do.
-
And do the various peripherals work in Linux; Thrustmaster, CH Products, Virpil, VKB, MFG, etc? VR/TrackIR? Simshaker?
-
Sounds like quite a lot of overhead for testing and maintenance every patch. How many additional users would be expected after adding DCS to Linux?

I'm reasonably sure that SSAO was causing stutters while rolling which improved a lot for me with it disabled. I assumed it was all of the calculations of lighting changes in the cockpit when rolling? Just a suggestion in case it may help.

If you think it's too easy, get the damper mod for the MFGs and turn the resistance on the damper all the way up.

HP Reverb G2 Support: Trust me on this one.
unlikely_spider replied to Sr.'s topic in Virtual Reality
Oh, yes. I had to Google where to find the S/N. It was inside the headset on the left side, not the one on the tag on the cable. I couldn't enter a chat until I had entered the correct one. -

I'm getting a replacement cable sent in the mail as well. Achieved through a chat session on their site with little problem. I do have issue with a number of things on this headset though - I do wish the build quality was a bit better. -
I'm trying to see what the general airflow direction is? Where is the radiator? Is it on the front of the case, blowing outwards? Because of the fan on the top, blowing into the case, is a little unconventional. Usually air comes in from the front, then out the back and top. I'm not saying this is the case in your case, but if there are competing fans causing turbulent air, that can negatively affect temps quite drastically. There should be one major direction with all fans working in agreement. It makes a much bigger difference than some give it credit for. And also mind how many fans are pushing vs pulling.

2.7.0.4625 Open Beta crash at second mission load
unlikely_spider replied to XPACT's topic in Game Crash
I do want to chime in for the first time regarding this issue. I do see this second mission load crash, which I saw for the first time immediately after the 2.7 release. And it never happened before this version was released. I have no overclocks on my GPU, but have an xmp profile on my ram. PBO is enabled on my Ryzen. But no manual overclocks. Edit - all mods disabled after the update. And a repair done. The crash always happens during mission load on the 2nd mission (and happens sometimes but not always) -
It's been a while, but fly up the coast for a bit and they will ask you to check on something north of where you took off from.

I have the G2, and if I wanted this I would need to spend a bit more than $799, correct? Or else I'd have a really nice paper weight?
-
Do you think so? The kit is over twice the cost of the G2.
-
Seems enticing, though I don't have any base stations and only have WMR controllers, so it seems I have to wait for the full kit and then decide if I want to spend that much. I do like the headphones on the Reverb G2 where they don't touch your ears. I wish the Vive had that style. Edit - hmm... can someone confirm that I can buy Index base stations and just this Vive Pro 2 headset? Edit 2 - and how do you apply the discount code to the pre-order?

Look under Axis in the drop-down in the key assignments and make sure no other device also is mapped to the same function.

Save progress in Campaigns and missions
unlikely_spider replied to Colvike's topic in New User Briefing Room
It depends. The mission has to be designed that way. -

EVGA actually seems to have some reasonably-priced cards, as compared to some of the other third-party ones. Some of them are crazy overpriced compared to Founders Editions or MSRP.
