I cant help think the OP is tongue in cheek but I will take something from it that I have frequently wished for and that it the interaction with the 'world'. Buildings are pointless and so are civilians. I ran a small mission today to cluster bomb two BMPs on one bridge and two on another who were 'supposed' to be preventing Civilians from entering the island. Probably 100 civilian vehicles drove through the burning hulks and past the Redfor training camp on the island. I dont need to see burning Civvies or troops hanging out of the BMP melting for immersion, but their current ambivalence to the World around them is pitiful.

Great post mate, keep pumped guys!

As I am the OP note the title is non combat and not civilian and the example I gave is the C130. Perhaps the title is misleading, is combat meaning that only aircraft which have weapons and can fight each other or is the notion of Combat a war between two factions. You will see that in most RTS combat games, troops need replenishing, tanks need fuel and ammo and aircraft drop their weapons and fly off the map to rearm/repair. DCS already has non combat trucks, what if during a dynamic campaign a FOB gets destroyed and you need to set up a new one, need to get a C130 in with rockets, fuel and ammo for your helicopters. It’s all part of combat.

Welcome beck Hegy! I hope you nail it this time, I loved your earlier ideas!

If it was as realistic as the real UN, it would be useless.

I dont think we need ED. You should try Miro, its a free (the lite version is) virtual white board and you can paste the map on to it from your free Snipping Tool then draw over it. You can then invite your pilots to the white board and all draw on it. I am sure with some time you could paste nato symbols and just copy/paste them. I just did a quick and dirty try then and was able to set it up in 2 minutes, I didnt share it to my iPad but its web based so could even be used on iPhone. Not dynamic but may be a stop gap to test it out. Give it a try and report back!

You would be best asking this in the Input/Output Section.

Is anyone discussing building an S-3, they can even do VIP escorts: You can decide what VIP stands for!

Just want to agree here, I am not that interested in AAR to practice it and in some cases, not that interested in carrier landing. I like the mission in the middle! Get within 10 meters of the fueller and press "x" and it ports you onto the tanker until you let go, a bit like the way you attach to the catapult. Get within 300 meters of the carrier and fairly lines up, press "x" and it lands you.

Hey ED, any update on DC - dont mean like, release date kind of info, just interested in the kind of issues there are with creating DC. Assume you will be creating lots of Intellectual Property to crack this nut but would be trully interested in the kind of hurdles you come up against rather than an out and out progress report. Appreciate every programmer and their dog would have an opinion on how to overcome the hurdles but regardless of that I think some insight would be fantastic.

Probably more to do with their commercial customers?

Didnt you tick a box saying that due to the nature of this product a refund is not available?

If you leave a web browser open in the background you can alt/tab every time

Progress pictures on the Eurofighter Typhoon
Mr_Burns replied to DashTrueGrit's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
Both pictures are of the Right Hand Glare Shield (RHGS), the first picture is what is on the front of the 'door' and as said, once you open it to the right, the Get You Home instruments appear below. Most of the fun is trying to see if they work with the door closed, a bit like a fridge light. I wont ruin your fun. -
I would skip the start up for a hot start everyday, jet powered up in the Hangar with Scramble Scramble Scramble is as far as I want to go, on a Carrier, prefer already lined up but will taxi from hot. I agree with you Jeffham, in the A-10C you used to get launch hang ups and MFDD failures...flown all mission to pop off a Maverick and it hangs up.....wtf, im not even flying a dynamic mission where this makes a difference!!

[CHECKING] Trouble firing second laser mav
Mr_Burns replied to jason_peters's topic in Bugs and Problems
Also, sorry didnt watch the track, you need to be pointing in the general direction (the right attitude, nose pointing towards target). -
Cheers mate. DCS Tornado IDS for me!

Thanks QuiGon, so if you find a blip on the radar that looks like Armour for example, you can then slew the TGP to designate assuming the AG Radar doesnt have enough definition to say "its a T-80" ?
-
Can I ask, what does AG mode give the aircraft in terms of offensive capability that we dont get with the TGP and Laser / TOO modes? Anyone got any links to non-confidential data on its performance?

I think the French used Paratroops deployed via Parachute in Africa in 2018 https://www.thedefensepost.com/2018/09/27/france-troops-parachute-menaka-mali/

That brought back some memories, thanks @Spectre11. I left the project at the end of Tranche 1. The Development jets had CRT MHDDs and were heavy as hell, I remember when the nice new screens were delivered and we couldn't give any of the CRT assets away, all the Development Teams wanted the LCDs. I think DA2 only ever flew with 2 Displays anyway, probably additional instrumentation in its place.

Similar mate but the Typhoon is built using a block upgrade program (BUP) within the Tranches. The Partner nations signs up to a tranche of aircraft, in this case when Typhoon kicked off they all signed up for Tranche 1 Block (whatever) jets and then as the technology matures they say aircraft 20+ will all be Block 2 and so on until the number of jets signed up for in Tranche 1 are on the production line then with the maturity of the program I think they stated the last Block in Tranche 1 would be 5. They they upgrade/retrofit all past aircraft to the final block 5 standard, I think there are also some nation specific requirements in the blocks too. Between Tranche 1 and Tranche 2 IIRC there were some structural design changes, the one that springs to mind was the ability to add a conformal fuel tank. Now its not been done, but you couldn't upgrade T1 aircraft with conformal tanks without some pretty major structural changes (if at all). I am pretty sure that the UK Block 5 had some significant differences to the German ones as the UK needed Air to Ground to replace the Tonkas and leave the UK with just two types, F-35 and the Tiffy, which I believe only accelerated in Tranche 2 where the RAF aircraft are all weather multi-role aircraft, I think the Luftwaffe are primarily A2A with the Lufwaffe still operating the Tonkas for a number more years, so why spend on upgrades you have another platform assigned to that role. German T1 Block 5 I think would be type we get, Im not sure if it has Paveway capability in Germany. I would be dreaming if we get it in Tranche 2 with Brimstones and Stormshadow.

Hey, I have just received a house call from the USAF asking me to sign up because I am the best pilot they have seen! Apparently in an server match they sent 16 Top Guns against me and I nailed everyone with guns and Aim 9x even though they had modified their AMRAAMs to be as good as Meteor. I reminds me of the time my mate Jay was recruited by the Football Association. :music_whistling:

Italy designed a plane to fly in reverse so it didn't need to turn around to surrender. True dit.

Would you want ANY heavy aircraft modules for DCS?
Mr_Burns replied to Wing's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The vote results say different however, as the numbers of the poll show, not everyone votes and those who want a heavy will vote here, those that dont probably dont pay too much attention to threads about heavies. In anycase, they decision would be up to ED and a Third Party wanting to do it, I dont see a heavy on their timeline, they are beefing up the platform.
