Thx for the input guys. Unfortunately, in DCS, our F-16's speedbrake works kind of weird. If you had your speedbrake fully extended before putting down the gear, the speedbrake will retract to I believe 43 degrees, which I think it's how it should work right? However, if you hold the switch aft and release the switch, the board extends fully and stays that way, it does not go back to 43 degrees. Also, if you extend the speedbrake after putting the gear down, the board can actually extends fully and also stays that way. Is this wrong? (I believe it is) During touch down, with the fully extended board, if you hold the green donut (13 degrees) for aerobraking, you can actually see the speedbrake touches the ground in the external view. Although it does not result in any damage in the game, it does look awfully wrong. The weird thing is, after rear wheel touches the ground for a while, the board will then self retract to the 43 degree, but why would the FCS allow it to be extended fully without holding the the switch all the way before? So based on your description, the way the speedbrakes works in real life makes total sense, but in DCS, I guess there is something wrong with it.

I also have a question. After flare and touch down with your rear wheels, should you open air brakes immediately during aerobraking or should you open air brakes after the touchdown of the front wheel? I remember seeing a red flag landing video of of a real jet extending the air brakes right after touchdown, but I forgot if that jet was an F-15 or F-16.

@Frag Use CMS up for whatever program you select (usually program 1), and bind the slap switch to CMS left since CMS left in the current state has no function. Then, you will have full control of 2 programs. Slap switch is program 5 btw. Then, edit you lua file like @Ignition said above. Basically you only need to edit program 1 and program 5 if you want to release 1 chaff and 1 flare separately. I have my program 1 set to 1 chaff and program 5 set to 1 flare. Save the lua file and reopen DCS then you are good to go. Remember to use the knob to select program to 1 and change the mode to manual when you startup the jet.

There is a new thread. BTW, I don't have custom loadout, liveries, DCS is on a Samsung 970 EVO SSD.

Yeah it will certainly work. I used to fly the F-15 with a Xbox controller before I bought my T16000m. You just have to figure out a control binding that works for you. I am not sure on if it will work well on high fidelity modern jets like the F-16 and M2000C tho. Since there are a lot of HOTAS controls you have to bind, I think you will have to use your keyboard as well. But you can certainly fly with a Xbox controller.

Is taking 3 fuel tanks on a F-16 a good idea?
SCPanda replied to Strider1_Trigger's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Did you even read my previous post? All I said was, "but Aim-9 on the wing tip and Aim-120 in the inner stations just make me think,"Dude you don't really know about the F-16...." And I was called out by someone that this is apparently a "harsh judgement"... so I replied How does what I think in my own brain has anything thing to do with being civilized??? Your logic and English just confuse me bro. -
Please Help - Thrustmaster T16000m Flight Stick Issues
SCPanda replied to Fangs's topic in New User Briefing Room
Try deleting those input files in C drive. I believe they are under saved games/DCS/Config/Input. Or just delete the input folder. Once you restart the game, the game will recreate new default files. Also try re-plugging the T16000m after doing that. Also you could try manually set the keybind. Go to controls-> F-16sim -> axis controls, and change the pitch and rolto the axis what you want. -

But we don't have those blocks in DCS. -

Man you didn't get my point. It was true F-16s carried aim-9s on the wingtips and aim-7s on the inboard stations, but it took place when aim-120s had not been put into service, and those F-16s were not block 50s like what we had in DCS. Block 50 does not have the capability of carrying aim-7s, this is confirmed by ED, and it is not necessary in real life since aim-120 is a superior missile in every way. When 120s were introduced, the air force did first try to carry 120s on the inboard stations and aim-9s on the wingtip like they used to do when they only had sparrows available. But they soon found out carrying 120s on the wingtips is better aerodynamically. It reduces flutter, creates less overall drag, and is more practical in combat like @Xavven explained above. Therefore, 120s have always been carried on wingtips since then. So I made the "harsh judgement" on people carrying aim-9s on wingtips and aim-120s on the inboard stations in DCS flying our block 50s, because this way of carrying missiles is incorrect and not realistic. -
Nah, they just posted an ad on their facebook page in March. F-16 throttle is in it. https://www.facebook.com/winwing.cn/videos/495107138562027/

Not just VR. FPS jumps for me too, and I play on a monitor. Sometimes it's quite annoying since the lag and freeze can make you click the wrong sever to get into when the sever list is still refreshing.

investigating Severe Yaw Oscillation at Mach 0.8 at Low Level

Yeah, I heard the F-16's flight control system automatically gives you proper rudder input so realistically pilots don't really use the rudder in flights. -

3 bag is fine with me, but Aim-9 on the wing tip and Aim-120 in the inner stations just make me think,"Dude you don't really know about the F-16...." -
I just want Viper's FM be fixed. New weapons would be cool but I don't really care since I rarely do air to ground. BVR and dogfighting is my thing. Would be nice if ED can give us an estimated date of when they will fix the FM. I mean, DCS F-16 flies no way near the F-16 in the other sim. Oh, and G model as well. You need be able to pull 9G in the Viper instead of blacking out.

Glad you found the solution. Cheers!

F-16 has zoom axis. Mine is set to the zoom axis. It should be at the bottom of the axis page in control settings.

Just to keep this topic alive. No performance gain from the last patch for me. FPS is still the same in the Persian Gulf Free Flight mission as the 2.7 release, and significantly lower than 2.5.6.

I skimmed it

So did the Viper get the new flares? Or is it just for the Hornet? If so, with the new flares, how much can you carry on the Viper now? and how much chaff? Before, the standard was 60 chaffs and 60 flares for the Viper.

I heard the Viper has longer legs than the Hornet. You just need to learn how to conserve fuel in it. 2 tanks is far more than enough for me in public pvp air to air severs. My loadout is 6 AMRAAMS + 2 Wing tanks for pvp. The Viper can go high and fast. Do that. Only drop altitude if you need to defend. Once you are out of danger, climb and repeat. If you stay low and use the burner, your fuel will run out very fast. BVR in the Viper is all about energy, not hide and seek in the mountains. If you like to stay low, might as well fly a Hornet. In a target rich environment, I can usually make back home with 3000-5000 lbs fuel left since you can run out of 6 foxs really fast. BTW, the Viper uses very little fuel if you cruise at 23000-35000 ft in mil power. Use your fuel flow indicator, it's very helpful. I also recommend set your DED to bingo page (list 2) so you can monitor your fuel better during air to air combat. Also, the problem I found with 3 bags is the drag. It's hard to get above 30000 ft (35000 ft+ is ideal) and stay fast (above mach 1.2) with 3 bags when you start to enter the fight after take off. Low energy and poor firing solution means your first 2-3 missiles have low pk. That's why I never fly with 3 bags. -
According to ED: no FM change. Could just be your feeling. I fly the Viper everyday. Same as before.

Thx for the info. I will check it out today when I got home from work. Hopefully some performance gain.

That's exactly what I had been doing. Spending all night tweaking the game. Literally tried everything ppl have been saying in the forum, including reinstalling DCS. In the end, I just gave up. Because lowering my graphic settings only gave me less than 10 fps increase, and it's still worse than 2.5.6. I didn't like my game looking bad so I reverted my settings to what I had in 2.5.6. Now, I just wait for ED can fix the issue and bring the performance back. Hopefully soon.

Yep, and this. I can confirm 2.7 inherited this lag as well.
