Take a chill pill ... he meant VORTACs, but then again, in AREA 51; VOTACs may be some unknown :alien: technology from Star Wars. Right Sith? :D

From the e-shop product page:

Note: Customers that purchased DCS: A-10C Warthog while it was in beta (prior to February 21st, 2011) will be provided this map FOR FREE! Key will be available in the your personal section on the DCS site soon.

Dont forget Red Dawn style missions too. Or find the terrorist(s) in Vegas, terrorists at the Hoover dam, etc. Just because it's Nevada doesn't mean it can't be fun and immersive. Red Dawn was ridiculous and yet it's still a cult classic that was worthy of a sequel and can easily inspire silly entertaining missions. Don't like it? Don't buy it. As for me my head is already churning with entertaining ideas and I pity those with zero imagination.

Speak for yourself (and yourself only).

The simple lo-detail Nevada was my favourite playground when A-10C first came out but now it looks to be an epic overhaul of flight simulation scenery

The footage I have seen of NTTR looks to cement DCS Worlds place as the absolute state of the art in flight simulators. I have NEVER seen anything that has made me want to fly so much. It looks truly incredible.

Great work!

+1

I also just pre-purchased NTTR and it looks so amazing in the live stream and teaser video. It's a remarkable piece of work and offers realism beyond what I hoped for in a flight-sim. Simply awesome.

It will also be a insanely good playground for the F/A-18C ;)...can't wait for that either!

I was a beta A-10C guy but I just bought Nevada anyway because this is much more than I was ever promised all those years ago.

Well put! I wholeheartedly agree!

i am on the fence.... on the one hand i would really like to pre-order this, i LOVE desert maps in general and specifically the area around vegas and want to support ED with DCSW2.0... but the min/recom. Specs (as some others before already mentioned) worry me.

i don't fly on max settings, tuned it according to my system and am able to maintain around 45-60 (vsync limit) FPS. the most slowdowns are when i stare right into explosions or the smoke of burning vehicles...

i wonder how much the performance increases of the new engine will "even out" the much higher minumum specs, when flying over nevada (with the SAME settings - like render distance, etc)...

Evening all...

I've purchased the map to support ED - It looks like a mammoth amount of work went in to it and it really is a stunner. It will be great to have a new theater to fly in.

But, can I ask a question (and this is a genuine question as I really don't know).

What is it about the Nevada area that gets people so excited? I'm a Brit who got in to DCS because of a love of flying in general rather than from a personal history of loving military aviation exclusively, so I know nothing about Red Flag or the history of the area. Why is everyone so pumped to be flying around here?

Cheers,

^ Because it's a new map at last. I think most folks here have been flying over current map since early 2000s and are more or less fed up with it. Give them something new, ANYTHING, even an effin' Narnia or Tolkien's Middle Earth to fly over and they'll buy it immediately :D :D :D.

I'm not one of them (a rather new DCS user here), and, living on the other side of the world I don't even now where exactly in US the Nevada is, but I admit the recent WIP vids and shots got me interested in this release. I'll probably won't buy it now, rather wait for it to mature somewhat, but I'll certainly get it at one point or another.

And even though I'm not into modern military aviation at all, I can see how important for post-WWII aviation history the place was, with all iconic early jet and rocket aircraft, prototypes and production ones being flown over there, conventional and nuclear munitions being tested, pilots of the Cold War era being trained... I think I'll have lots of fun flying F-86 over there.

A big part of it is a new map.

Another big thing is once NTTR is out; DCS reaches another pinnacle.

Finally, it's a desert environment with a whole new engine behind it.

For me (and 476th vFG members) it's about having a USAF base and proper training areas. We'll use it for vHawgsmoke and other internal and community events. We've got big plans for NTTR and have had them for multiple years

Any word on whether the red flag campaigns can be completed in multiplayer? Have a friend on the fence about NTTR at the cirrent price and if they can be done MP it might put him over the edge.

Was it right, the early A10C beta buyer must buy the campaings for Nevada?

As I can think back, there was not such an announcement coming with the A10C beta!?

A10C beta + Nevada inclusive campainge for the early ones!?

But I am not sure right now, must search my "bill" to look for that.

Yes A-10C beta users get the map for free but must purchase the campaigns.
