I just watched Matt Wagner flying in the Gazelle in 1.5.3 using this Terrain Texture Mod.

It looked fantastic.

Being that Matt was able to use it in 1.5.3, why isn't it available to the public yet ?

I'm certainly going to purchase it whenever it is available. I think the price is well worth the effort put into it.

But now I am trying to figure out how I might be able to fly my Gazelle in 1.5 ?

I thought it was going to be available in 1.5 but so far I have only been able to install in 2.whatever.

Is there somewhere where we might be able to register to be notified with this Texture Mod IS available ?

Wags mentioned they were still working out the copy protection system and that it could be out this week or the end of the month.

Yay Starforce!

Cool thanks for that info. I must have missed that part !!

PS> I also just remembered that the Gazelle was only released for DCS World 2 for now but will be available for 1.5 soon.

Thanks again ody81

Starway gave the 6th as a release date but wags came back with a release window. A not set in stone window. A dcs release window, one that's open.

True and I really don't blame Matt for the "window". They have been burn many times by setting release dates and coming up short, even off a day or two. The community gets a little crazy when a hard date is not met.

Considering the massive difference between the DLC and the stock textures I wouldn't mind a "as is" release. I was holding to after 2.0 release to report bugs related to the stock textures as things started to look ridiculous. Washed out terrain textures, trees looking rather like graphical artifacts etc. This DLC is a godsend!

Count me in for a buy of this. Will it conflict with sweetfx or should I disable it?

BTW just what does DLC mean? I even tried to find it in wiki.

NIce work,

Thanks

It is always best to not fly too fast or fly too slow. So I fly half fast. :D

SweetFX won't work. DLC is a paradigm where additional content is provided by releasing self sufficient modules, that require the base fame but not other modules (most of the time).

First day buy for me as well, looking awesome... great work Starway.

Hope the "soon" in the anouncement is truly meant...

Uhmmm, have you used SweetFX before. It has already been stated in this thread and the creator confirmed that SweetFX is compatible with this DLC!

So has the opposite:

Just a side note, the protected version hasnt been built yet, the issues with protected DLC and SweetFX might show up here as well. Just dont want to get anyones hopes up on that as SweetFX isnt officially supported by ED.

Just because it works for Starway (prior to adding the copy protection that breaks SweetFX compatibility) doesn't mean it's going to work for us.

We'll have to wait and see, but it's probably not going to work for the same reason it doesn't work in the DLC campaigns.

Interesting. I did not know that SweetFX did not work with DLC campaigns. I would be very curious as to why the issue crops up with a DLC campaign but not with DLC aircraft.

So would I.

I've used SweetFX and of late SweetFX with Reshade for several years without problem. I've got it running in all three installations (Public, Beta and Alpha) of DCS currently.

I'm aware of the problems with DLC campaigns and I'm of the understanding that the campaigns use a DRM scheme written specifically for the campaigns. I don't understand why this DRM scheme has a problem with SweetFX/Reshade as SweetFX is a post-processor and doesn't alter game code nor execution. It simply enhances the video out of the game as it is delivered to the graphics processor.

Others here (Yo Yo for example) have questioned the incompatibility brought about by the DLC

DRM as being harmful to the success of the DLC products by excluding the purchase of the DLC by the DCS SweetFX user. I have not purchased any DLC campaign that conflicts with SweetFX.

Apparently ED is not concerned with the problem nor resolving the conflict. I've seen opinions here that the conflict is a SweetFX issue to resolve. SweetFX runs successfully for a myriad of games without issue. I believe it is ED's DRM that's creating the conflict.

DRMs are very strange beasts, it's probably impossible to understand why SweetFX is an issue with campaign DLCs without access to the code. If I'm not mistake the first iterations of Starforce could physically brake CD drives for some reason.

True, back in the flaming cliffs 2 days I had to unplug my burners or it refused to start at all. And those old starforce drivers were absolute resource hogs, never been a starforce fan, my gut sank when I read dcs world would be using it as well.

Ah well. Maybe sweetfx will work in the dlc someday, but I stopped using it and eventually didn't miss it.

I haven't used SweetFX since 1.5 came out, so I only read about it. As for the exact reasons, I could only speculate. But I think I read that ED's point of view is that the SweetFX team should change something and it's not ED's fault as such (don't quote me on this, though, I might remember it wrong).

That is pretty much correct, ED wont try and diagnose or change anything with the DLC protection system for unofficial modifications to the sim.

OK, then ED males the decision that they don't want my money. I guess the fact that SweetFX does not modify the SIM escapes them.
