firmek Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 If its the Hornet alone, it looks like so for me ? Which features make it more pricier than the A10C when it was released ? (honest question, I missed perhaps something) Just the ground radar with multiple modes itself. Once finished it's going to be the most complex aircraft simulated in DCS. I think it could be expected that the price will be higher than for the currently available modules. F/A-18, F-16, F-14, M-2000C, A-10C, AV-8B, AJS-37 Viggen, F-5E-3, F-86F, MiG-21bis, MiG-15bis, L-39 Albatros, C-101 Aviojet, P-51D, Spitfire LF Mk. IX, Bf 109 4-K, UH-1H, Mi-8, Ka-50, NTTR, Normandy, Persian Gulf... and not enough time to fully enjoy it all

Indeed but its also a tech much needed for other futur aircrafts, that also 3rd parties were waiting for, and not just specific to the F-18 no ?

(honest question, I missed perhaps something) Are you kidding? The Hornet will be the most complex aircraft in DCS with all its internal avionics and its proper simulation in DCS. It's been in development for more than 5 years know if I'm not mistaken, which is more than most other games are. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

From what I did understand, the project started years ago, intense devellopment maybe 2 years ? Other projects had priority first
Ocelotunit Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 From what I did understand, the project started years ago, intense devellopment maybe 2 years ? Other projects had priority firstYou understand wrong. They've explained it plenty of times, the Hornet has its own team, WW2 aircraft have their own team, terrains have their own team. It's taken a long time because they got to a certain point and new information came to light which allowed them to make a more modern version so they had to basically start again. If you have been following the mini updates, you'd know how crazy complex this aircraft will be. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk

(honest question, I missed perhaps something) The fact that there has been a lot of extra work going into the ground radar, folding wings, tail hook, helmet mounted sight, an additional MFCD, additional weapons systems, fly by wire, extra bit tests for all those systems may also have something to do with it. Regardless, it is still a step forward in flight sim technology, and as we're getting 2.5 free of charge, I wouldn't begrudge ED wanting to maintain a cash flow in order to be able to continue producing cutting edge software. Do you really feel hard done by in having to pay the going rate for some leading edge software?
myHelljumper Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 I find that the price is justified and that it being higher would feel justified. Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA

MikeMikeJuliet Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 WOW....If true this would be incredible!!! They said Hornet would Not be released before 2.5 merge...So if Hornet Pre-Purchase is up means 2.5 is so Close we can almost touch it!!! So I guess you weren't convinced by Wags stating just weeks ago that 2.5 will be arriving by the end of January 2018? They have been stating so many times that they don't give time estimates anymore unless they are absolutely sure, and Wags has now stated "end of January, that's a promise". Yes 2.5 is close. It has been announced already. DCS Finland | SF squadron

Dudikoff Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 (edited) TBH, I was expecting an even higher price given all the new features and systems. My only disappointment is that it will be released at the end of Spring. It seems somewhat early to start the pre-purchase period now if the module is 4-5 months away from the release. Because of the complexity of the Hornet, they are allowing themselves a little bit looser pre-purchase period, the goal is to get it to use ASAP, but unknown challenges can always trip them up.
