The hornet, the carrier and the Persian Gulf are very exciting.

 

Got a small question about the carrier textures though.

Are the deck textures final? Because they seem very low quality to me in all the footage so far.

This carrier will be free and it's mutch better (a lot better!!!!) than default current carriers from DCS. Textures are nice too. Payware version will have better textures perhaps, I suppose.

IIRC there was no confirmation whatsoever about the pay ware Nimitz, Wags said it will come for free in one of the recent videos, but not that it will be a lite version or whatever is written on the subject. I do remember him talking about a payable Nimitz but it was way back last year, things have changed a lot since.

You do, I do not have my sources ready at the moment, but I am 100% sure there is going to be a payware carrier DLC. The carrier that you are seeing in press release videos is an updated free carrier for everyone that will probably come when the Hornet goes into Early Access.

Q: Will the Hornet come with a new, highly-detailed Nimitz-class aircraft carrier with new features and functionality never seen before in DCS World?

A: These will be two separate modules, but we plan to provide a bundle deal at a later point that will includes both. We currently plan a less-detailed version that will be a free part of DCS World.

 

Note: There is nothing else we can really say about the new carriers at this time.

Last edit of the faq is 11/4 and no way to be sure it’s specifically about this.

The last we heard from ED on the carriers is that they will release a high fidelity Nimitz class and Admiral Kuznetsov carrier as separate paid modules sometime in the future. Heatblur is going to release a high fidelity Forrestall class carrier for the f-14 also sometime in the future. Exciting times ahead for sure :)

I think your both right. I believe the Stennis you see is the low resolution free one. It certainly looks like that is the case. And I believe we will be getting a much more detailed pay ware one in the future. At least that's how I took Wag's statements I could be wrong.

Is ED releasing the free version of the new carriers they've been working on with the EA release ou'd ghee F18 or are we going to be using the old one still?

The carrier you see in the press release vids will come with an update to DCS World. It is not reliant or tied to a terrain or module.
