GrEaSeLiTeNiN
Aside from human vs human, I think labels on when enemy AI is set at excellent would level the playing field. But I wonder what goes into the coding to determine the different AI skill levels. Also, if the AI can see through mountains or if they see just as well in the night as in the day (do they?), that should be fixed. Perhaps metal gleaming in the sun could be another option to help spot the enemy. They have that effect for the Battlefield game sniper scopes. _e10
I mostly fail to spot and (visually) track air targets but I still dont use labels because it takes away so much gameplay... Maybe it would be a good idea to be able to select what kind of labels to switch on so you can for example use labels for planes but not for missiles. So is being a combat pilot with 20/200 vision. "I just believe if I saw it with my own eyes" - and I can tell you: Stars in the night sky are a lie, because it's pitch black! If DCS was a pilot simulator, it would send me home as well. Per Pedes. Too bad labels don't help doing AAR, because having less than 1/20 and practically no PV doesn't help either ED could at least give us back the bigger 1.5 cursors... But I'm glad with everything we have - without simulations, especially at that grade, I'd never even come close to experiencing this at all. Maybe it would be a good idea to be able to select what kind of labels to switch on so you can for example use labels for planes but not for missiles. It is possible to do this. You have to edit a .lua file. You can choose what type of label also. For example only dots or full name with range. You can also choose the range at which the labels appear. I don't remember the name of the lua file but google should help you out.
Cthulhus
I have to; in VR, I can't spot anything without some kind of indicator. I like the new system where you can really have some minimal labels a lot better than full labels. same. I bind a key for on/off labels quickly. E-Rock
I am thinking a reflection / shimmer type effect for air and ground objects of interest may be a good compromise between realism and hardware / physical limitations?
GrEaSeLiTeNiN
I am thinking a reflection / shimmer type effect for air and ground objects of interest may be a good compromise between realism and hardware / physical limitations? Yes I mentioned that too. For planes, that might be possible due to cockpit glass or metal colour paint schemes. Ground objects may often be in camouflage matte colors which may be less viable? imacken
Two things...reason 845874 VR isn’t where it needs to be for flight sims yet and I’m surprised so many people use labels in a sim meant for realism. Because it is almost impossible for some people to see enemy aircraft without them. I find a lot of difficulty in 4K and VR to see enemies more than a mile or so away, so for me, labels are essential to my enjoyment of the game. I turn them off until I really need them though.
