Neat thread, I’ll play. Always good to see how other people are doing things that I haven’t thought of...

This is before I moved, right after initial assembly. It has its own room now and isn't stuffed in a corner like an unwanted stepchild :p The chair had some custom welding to create a mounting point for the stick. Whole thing is designed to be easily disassembled and packed for transport in about 30 minutes.

Yep...my desk and PC are spotless at all times. I treat it like a real aircraft and keep it in tip-top shape!

...

This is what a real airplane looks like:

My Monstertech MTX Sim Rig (still missing TM MFD mounts for the center aluminum profile for it to be complete); great for VR as well.

Granger sells extrusions, and that would solve several problems I'm running into (that mostly revolve around a desk designed for silly trivial things like 'work' rather than important things...

I need to get my desk clean and the Mk 2 controls done. Couple days to rent a bobcat will take care of the cleaning, controls are still getting soldered together. That will take longer. If I frame up a floor mounted system there might be changes to the way my controls mount, too.

Extrusions...hrm...wonder how I sell that to SWMBO.

With the DCS: F-16C Viper undergoing internal testing and that I demo or software to professional customers, I’ve updated one of my two workstations to act as an F-16C VR simulator. The biggest change is the addition of an Realsimulator FSSB R3 Lightning that uses a high-quality force sensor (just like the real F-16C). I combined this base with a Thrustmaster Warthog stick. Between this and side-mounting stick using Monstertech desk mounts, it really feels like sitting in a Viper cockpit when in VR. Realsimulator was also kind enough to send me a Throttle USB Adapter (TUSBA) that allows my old Thrustmaster TQS throttle to work as a DirectX USB input device.

Although there is no Gucci seat, it provides a great, low cost F-16C HOTAS facsimile.

Hello wags,

I see that you are focused on the viper by adapting one of your computer for this aircraft. The other pc is for the hornet or you no longer study the development of F18c?

Thanks !

A great set of setups displayed in this thread

That must be propaganda though, cause I dont believe everybody has it that neat and tidy 24/7 :)

Mine is certainly not that neat: I regularly switch between my "jet setup", and "helo setup", which takes a while. There are cables everywhere, and I slide the setup that's not currently in use underneath 1 end of my dinner table to put it sort-of out of the way :joystick: :music_whistling:

If I had an extra room for my PC setup I would be able to get things a lot more tidy: currently vacuuming properly is a challenge

I do. I'm a neat freak. ;) You won't see any cables or anything. No mess on tables. Nothing. Clean as a whistle.

Greetings from the new Dude.

This is my 'ride, 'One More Time. She's a slow project...I started building her in 2005 and still haven't finished !. She is built full scale using the original NAA drawings and contains as much original equipment that I can find / afford.

Her last outing this year is end of August and then she is going to be gutted so that I can install replacement top longerons manufactured to the correct dimension. I'm also going to be attempting to re-create the windshield assembly by using the original drawings, instead of using odd bits of Ali extrusion I had laying about.

Currently, there is a 200 Watt sound system bolted up under the seat / back of the armour plate, and earlier this year, I installed a 3 lever Saitek throttle quadrant behind the instrument pane that I have jury-rigged to the original quadrant. When I take her to shows / events, I get the public to climb in her and I talk them though how top start up a Merlin...using the Accusim '51.

Don't panic, I have now uploaded the DCS '51 and will be using that form now on !.

When she is gutted, I will be installing a PC rudder assembly to the back of the firewall connected to her pedals using a single rod, and I have a AV8R PC joystick that I am going to modify and install (I'll be keeping the original !).

My plan is to get a decent PC system and then go down the VR route :-)

Anybody else using a full size '51 'pit ?.

New desk and looking clean, best time to post in this thread :D

Throttle and stick are under the desk, they slide out for use, desk is adjustable and can be used as a standing desk also.

Cables for VR and headset are on retractable hooks in the ceiling, I prefer to have them above me when in VR.
