ED has working on a RTS Dynamic campaign some years ago to 2021....

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4093986&postcount=222

Dynamic Campaign: We now have a basic test version that works within DCS World to evaluate the real-time strategy element of the system. We are using this to debug the system. In parallel, work is now underway on the UI interface and the AI machine learning code. This is complex and is receiving a lot of focus at the moment.

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4114829&postcount=225

The basics of the dynamic campaign simulation engine are working in the map view and we’ve been using this to test the RTS element of the system. To support this, we’ve been adding new icons to the map for items like factories, warehouses, logistic units, and more. Work is also underway on providing visual indications of ground force movements and emplacements in the map view.

Expected more info on next newsletter.

  • ED Team
no VULKAN (yet) in 2020 ?

Much like a good novel, always pays to read the entire thing...

In next week’s newsletter, we’ll talk about the non-aircraft projects and core DCS World improvements that we’ll be working on in 2020.

Man, Vulkan could be a massive improvement for my Ryzen rig. I mean it's already doing really well but just that tiny bit more multithreading etc should just sweeten the deal nicely.

Loving the updates too guys, thank you

Well, the million dollar question has yet to be answered. Will Vulkan implementation in DCS improve VR? I can't wait to find out.

From what i have seen from another sim's beta, the largest results come to Ryzen cpus due to their often higher thread count.

If your cpu is already bottlenecking your system it will only make things worse for you, if i understand correctly. Though prob going off topic for this thread now

What is VULKAN? Will this make DCS run with better performance and higher FPS, even in old PC systems? Or will require more PC performance?

It should result in a improvement in system resources.

Flysinside switched to Vulkan which resulted in a significant improvement in frame rates.

Clearly we have no guarantees, but it could be a game changer

System: 9700, 64GB DDR4, 2070S, NVME2, Rift S, Jetseat, Thrustmaster F18 grip, VPC T50 stick base and throttle, CH Throttle, MFG crosswinds, custom button box, Logitech G502 and Marble mouse.

Server: i5 2500@3.9Ghz, 1080, 24GB DDR3, SSD.

So with same PC, I can reach more FPS and better performance by using Vulkan?

Yes, all of us will need less power

, to Run DCS in High VR Settings with Vulkan

I could be wrong so anyone is welcome to correct me... But my understanding is vulkan is able to utilize multiple processor cores so the you would see a bigger performance gain if your cpu is an 8 core than you would if it was a 4 core. I'm sure it reaches a point of diminishing return though on one of those absurd 32 core processors.

Yeah to a point, Vulkan would let you use multiple cores to do different things, however flight sims are tightly time dependent (think FM etc) so there are real limits on re-integrating processes from different procs. You could however probably offload stuff like AI, or dynamic weather or other less time dependent stuff onto other procs. Graphics per vulkan are also a big improvement performance wise. I would expect 4-8 cores to be the maximal usage wise scenario though.

Vulkan is for GPU ... not for cpu
