My third year flying DCS, I don't think there's ever been a more anticipated module than this?

I obviously don't have access to pre-order sales figures, but judging by the hype I say it's up there.

Super excited for this one, loving the videos.

I don’t know. To me it seems like a toss up between the Apache and Phantom for most anticipated. At least thats the general vibe I’m noticing on the forum lately.

Don’t think it’s the most anticipated ever.

The F-14 build-up to release was much more intense in my subjective perception.

Yep, I'd say Top Gun > Iron Eagle (first one) > Fire Birds.

Iron Eagle had the best soundtrack, though, IMO:  Queen, Ronnie James Dio, Adrenalin, Twisted Sister, Spencer Davies Group > Kenny Loggins, Harold Faltermeyer and Giorgio Moroder anytime, any day. Top Gun did have Steve Stevens, though....🤔

So yeah, I agree with the Tomcat probably having had more "hype" going on. Viper pre-EA-release wasn't without anticipation, either. 😉

I think every new module gets hyped a lot.

I’m sure there was a similar feeling in the F-18, F-16, A-10, etc. threads.

Not sure of the metrics used (sales? views? manually set?), but there is a 'popularity' sort option for the shop page. Apache is top spot, followed by Hornet, Viper, Tomcat, Warthog, Hind... seems accurate.

I think it's pretty obvious that he is referring to the impending release of Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose.

Modules: Wright Flyer, Spruce Goose, Voyager 1

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking but I just thought it was interesting that he appeared to expect all of us reading his post to take that for granted.

The Apache has been on peoples want list for many years when blackshark was stand alone before the f14 was even thought about

As for now popularity has changed.

This thread was also started in the Apache subforum. It was only moved here today. I imagine the OP originally assumed that because (s)he posted it there, the understanding would be that we were referring to the Apache.

Not for me. I don't like Eagle Dynamics direction with regards to George AI. It's just like in the Hind, a terrible autopilot and an even worse targeting pod Nowhere near the ease of use of Heablur's Jester.

All I needed was for ED to release the quickstart manual which confirmed my suspicions on this.

Unless I can find someone to fly it with, I will not be buying the Apache.

Hi.

True, saddly... but the Apache is the Apache... let's hope George will be better than Petrovic at the begining!

I think you forgot a few question, exclamation marks and "1's" there...

The OP was created in the Apache sub-forum and moved to here without @Dannyvandelftknowing..

Sometimes things can be easily and logically be explained.. no need to start shouting..

Anyways.. back on topic:

Fwiw, personally the Apache is my most anticipated module so far. Although I think for most here, the Tomcat was probably more anticipated for

My apologies to the OP and the rest of this community. I had no idea that his post was originally put up in the Apache forum. I guess I was just doing my best impression of Tucker Carlson and it came off just as I should have expected it to. Again, I hope everyone will accept my sincerest apology.

I agree, Apache is the most anticipated module for good reason. I don't think ED can top it. Phantom is already a more specific module, but Apache is the kind of module I expect ordinary players and streamers to play it in multiplayer and make hilarious vids from it. It's brutal and infamous platform, known by everybody.

Apache will again put DCS back into the spotlight, just like after the first A-10 release.

That’s no way to compare level of anticipation prior to release .All other modules have already been released for quite some time.(years, with the exception of the Hind).

Of course their store pages aren’t as popular now as they were prior to, during and shortly after release.

Plus the Apache fan-crowd probably has constantly one tab open on its store page and is hitting F5 key non-stop 😉skewing the metrics..

This is true.

But everyone knows the BlackShark 3 is by far the most anticipated module.
