Picure Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 No explanation needed. All rotary wing pilots will know my gripe 16

I've seen 2000lb bombs land on trees while the dude hanging out beneath it is just fine. IRL, the guy, the tree, and all the trees within a hundred feet should just be gone. 7

Guy just standing a few feet to far away from the relatively small blast radius, and he'll be fine. 3 i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
Livers Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Agreed. An AP or HEAT round should do a bit more than start a fire. They should blow through a treeline like they aren't there. 4
Kappa-131st Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 +1 : Destroyable tree is very important. Actualy, forest are impenetrable shelter ! 5
Picure Posted January 10, 2023 Author Posted January 10, 2023 I just did a sortie in rotorheads. An osa in the bushes is unable to be destroyed. Im pretty sick and tired of freakin anti missile trees and bushes 3
SickSidewinder9 Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Oh god, this needs to happen. Environment and static world object effects are seriously lacking. 1

Indyplumber Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 Just last night I missed on an AI tank. It moved back in between a row of trees. I came back around three times with three Maverick locks. They all hit the trees. I unloaded my GBU-12's then my laser rockets then emptied my gun on this tank and he didn't lose a bit of life. I flew back Winchester and pissed. The tank laughed and lived on. All thanks to the impervious trees. 4 Gear: Asus X870, 9800X3D / 96GB DDR5 / Samsung 4TB nVME / RTX 4090 24gb / TM-Warthog / Winwing Orion - F15EX / VPForce Rhino/ MFG Crosswinds/ Total Controls MPDs/ Custom TEDAC/ Winwing PTO2 / HP Reverb G2 v2, Tracker IR Irish 1-1 | Maleioch
Terzi Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 I think the trees should offer tiny probability of survival for small caliber ammunition which is not really even necessary. No more than that. And yes they should be destructible and I think.
Lace Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 I agree 100% that trees should suffer damage, but they should still have an influence on weapons. Proximity fuses can be triggered by heavy foliage, and it will make the correct setting of fusing delays and types more relevant, particularly when attacking through thick cover. Large limbs can deflect weapons too, and any hunter will know that even a tiny twig can cause enough of a deflection to turn a hit into a miss. Scale that up and it is obviously important that the effect trees have on weapon systems should not just be removed altogether, as that would be equally unrealistic. i.e. 100% penetrable trees is as unrealistic as 100% impenetrable trees. 4 Laptop Pilot. Hiob Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 I don't want to spoil the party - and on its own, I'm all for destroyable trees and stuff - I'm just afraid that such things would make my cpu melt..... 2 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
Livers Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Your CPU is already melting with the trees burning. I'd think it would be a relief to have them removed after the fire times out. 1

Dragon1-1 Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Even just a toppling animation would be good, following by removing all collision. As neat as forest fires would be (for fighting them in a helo, if nothing else), it'd take some serious work to implement. Incidentally, the safe radius for a 2000lb bomb is one mile. Granted, that's for how far fragments might travel, but a Mk84 blast radius should be much larger than it is. We're getting a Herc with a MOAB, while nobody had talked about including the original Daisy Cutter yet (although, being a palletized load, I suspect it would not be very hard to add once MOAB is in), it can be used in a similar way. 1
