We know nothing about Hellcat project apart from the fact that it has started last year as teased in ED's "2023 and beyond" video. So it might be anywhere between 2 and 3 years off.

You can follow F4U progress on Magnitude3 section of the forum, although these guys are always  rather tight lipped about their projects. Rudel has been posting many neat screenshots in recent months, however, which suggests we might get the plane next year. No updates on their carrier, though, so it's uncertain if it's going to make it on time together with the plane, or what functional features it's going to have.

F8F is still a private mod attempt I believe, so whether it ever sees light of day remains to be seen.

No updates from ED for a long time about their WWII version of Marianas, so nobody knows how it's going to be distributed and if it's going to be a free map in the first place.

I remember when P-47 or Fw-190 was coming out, we could see screenshots videos many many months before early access release, so when ED haven't posted any of those so far, i don't expect release at least 2 years from now, unless ED went in to incognito mode by not sharing any of the ww2 progress.

There's been hint that we might see the Hellcat in the 2024 and beyond video.

Which still might mean it's two years away.

As we know the 2023 and beyond video was mostly beyond.

As long as I remember, Hellcat was always my favourite warbird. I have books, monographies, models of F-6F, and of course, games. Not only flight sims like Il-2 Pacific Fighters or MS Combat Flight Simulator 2, but also simple arcade games. But one game, "Wings of Fury" for Amiga, has special place in my memories, because it was my first related to planes game ever. Years later, when I am familiar with programming languages and basics of graphics, I made my own arcade game with Hellcat, strongly based on "Wings of Fury":

I am very excited waiting for that beautiful dark blue bird in DCS - all I need is Double Wasp and six .50 cal brownings!

DCS: F6F Hellcat
Also started in 2023, the Hellcat has made great progress. When creating the external model, internal structural modelling was created to provide a very accurate and realistic structure in order to enhance damage modelling. The flight model development is in full swing, and it is being created to match first-hand knowledge of its handling and performance in cooperation with The Fighter Collection.

The Hellcat will not exist in a vacuum though, and Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO) opponent aircraft are already in development, as well PTO specific ground and naval forces.

SDB Dauntless  is mandatory please !

A plane that entered the war already obsolete, then proceeded to punch 2 categories above its weight, sinking the Japanese carriers in all the major battles, and serving till the end of the war - this is a must have asset, even if it is AI only.

Probably the single most important plane type strategically ever. A few of them in a couple of hours shortened the war in the Pacific by a couple of years.

Spitfire didn't change the face of the war in less than a day.
Battle of Britain lasted several months and have many variables etc.

For Midway, one day Japan was big and scary, the next day, not so much. And that was the humble SBDs that did that.

Can we have a Wildcat too? Please. 🙂

That would be great. It can even be FM-2 so it would be contemporary with the F6F and F4U.

Wildcat was also used extensively in Europe compared to the Hellcat and Corsair that just did some token flights.

Wildcat Sqn were on the carrier my Great-Uncle was on. That’s why I want em 😁

I’ll be wanting Sea-Hurris next, that'll stir someone up. Doubt we’ll get any. At this point I’ll welcome anything new with a propeller.

As I said for the FG-1D, not a photographer and this is from my phone, so it is what it is.

Also, it is not a Hellcat but a Wildcat from the lovely WWII collection at the Virginia Military Aviation museum. Allegedly it flies, too.

Hats off to the amazing staff and guides at the museum.

I’ve seen this Wildcat fly a few times. This was from a couple of years ago at Duxford.

B&W pics taken by my great-uncle, ‘45. Definitely not at Duxford. 🙂

I had no idea this was in development until now, but I'm glad to see it.  I thought my first WWII module would be the Corsair when it comes out, but now I'm not so sure.

Personally the F6F Hellcat is the only WWII module that I would buy on the day of its release because it is one of my favorite planes. I wish good luck to the Eagle Dynamics development team 😃

Wonder how far along the Hellcat is compared to the Chinook.  It feels to me like we've gotten more info on the Hellcat and yet the Chinook is already up for preorder.  Wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the Enterprise is missing all of its gun turrets...

Enterprise has WIP, no near to release. Remember the Chinnok has on develop from some time ago, more complex module and surely has a more big team working on them as the Helcat with only we see your 3d model from 2024 and Beyond, and no pics about the internal cockpit.
