anything in that range seems pretty steep to me

Actually, the Apple Store also has a cut of 30%, Google Play store also is 30% tough recently it lowered to 15% for developers with less than 1 US$ million anual revenue.

I started my DCS hobby on Steam, back on 2013 ..  but on 2014 I chose to ditch Steam and moved over to stand-alone .. have not regreted it .. I prefer to not have Steam's overhead on my PC.

Same.

I thought it was mentioned that a release date would be supplied …

no, I have not seen any mention to any release date … Razbam has been very careful to not give any firm date.

So greed over customer satisfaction then.

what a petty comment 😝 … and customer satisfaction has to do with product and service quality, not giving a price discount.  have you seen many dcs developers becoming millonaires? Do you work for free on real life?  .. software development needs to be funded, no one will work for you for free .. if that’s being greedy then you have very unreasonable expectations … perhaps you would be better served by playing with free Android flight sims.

Cool, i Have no issue with them not releasing a date, I will delay my buying until I see a release date and buy it a week before that, purely based on the 2 delays to get a pre order out, I'm sure it will be some time within the next 6 months at a worst case scenario.

Yup. Service quality. You said it. Where's that service quality for Steam users and people that want to use and accrue ED miles?

I won't say this is the dumbest thing I've seen on these forums (I wish) but it's definitely an honorable mention. Also, thanks for selecting my post. I feel appreciated... well, not appreciated but noticed at least. You know what they say, no such thing as bad publicity unless you're Kanye West.

Sorry, but this is a very niche market, not a FPS that's going to sell millions (or at least hundred's of thousands) of copies.  Every $ counts to their bottom line to be able to remain in business and make more modules.  Are there things they could/should have done better (especially related to communication regarding the launch) - hell yes.  But IMHO accusing them of greed is over the top.

My suggestion, stop whining and go the dedicated route, or continue to abuse yourself and stick with steam.  If this causes you to ditch DCS because it was not on Steam for early access, your a failure in life.

In my country, credit card or PAYPAL is not our main payment method, which is one of the reasons why we are not used to using ED e-shop. Using Steam instead of ED e-shop is a failure in life? What a strong and strange sense of pride! You must have a very successful life. interesting

If I remembered correctly, ED was very generous for the AH-64D pre-order that ED provided the same discount on the ED store as well as Steam before the official release.

Well, these years are very difficult for everyone to make money.

20% discount is better than nothing on Steam side?!  I guess... and hope I am right about it.

pre-order will run until early access starts. As soon as we have a date to share we will. Then the discount will be 20%

the above is incorrect

The developer chose not to offer the 30% pre-order on Steam due the small margins from the Steam fees + the discount.

The F-15E will of course be on Steam in the future at 20% off when released.

I just hope that other 3rd party developers will not follow this trend. In my opinion all customers should be treated equally and have similar access to Pre-orders/EAs/discounts. Or otherwise ED and 3rd parties should stop selling via Steam. Feeling like a second class citizen here.

Yes, sorry. RAZBAM opted out of the ED Miles program right now for the F-15E.

'right now'

Imagine another round of 'angry birds' if and when RAZBAM changes their mind.

Surely we all want products a little cheaper here and there, but c'mon folks, plenty of stuff coming from ED that you will spend your miles on anyways.

I just hope that HB's Phantom has a normal preorder, for everyone, and with sensible pricing. Even if the Mudhen was priced like Mirage F1 (bad deal, but at least it was on Steam), I'd probably have gone for it. Now I'm not touching it until it goes on sale, just because of the preorder debacle (and even if they change their minds, it had better be a real 30% off). The RAZBAM FAQ even said it will be on Steam, until it didn't.

Yes, just out of courtesy RAZBAM should have announced that pre-order would not include Steam. I get that.

But on the other hand, people are getting hysterical and yelling “GREED!” over $8.

Seems to me Steam and ED miles aren't good for RB business
