VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 I dunno when it would be out, but I would think these are likely: Normandy 2.0 Whatever-Heatblur-teases-us-with AH-64 mini-update These are wishful but not likely (well depending on how long we need to wait further): F-15E Multi-threading support 1 I Fly, Therefore I Am. AKULA_OPTIMUS Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 (edited) I keep my expectations low just in case, but I would say there gonna be weather upates, like new sunset effects, as they were shown on the latest videos and screenshots. And also many bugfixing things. I really hope to see some Viggen stuf also And maaaaye, new S-3 and B-52 models?? Edited March 7, 2023 by AKULA_OPTIMUS 2

Dragon1-1 Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 (edited) I'm pretty sure that it will be more than a regular update why else would it have taken so long? Normal updates don't take two months. Also, it's highly likely that whatever that is, is a big engine update that would affect everyone. If a module release or update is not ready in time, it just gets pushed back into the next month, this had happened before. This is obviously something that can't just be left out of a patch, and that takes a lot of time to get right. As such, it's perfectly reasonable to expect the 2.9 update (if they don't call it 3.0, which they may) to come this month. No F-15E, but Normandy is a maybe. Edited March 7, 2023 by Dragon1-1 3
Gunfreak Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Hope: MT, Normandy 2, F4, Corsair. Semi realistic expectations: MT and/or Normandy 2. i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
Viper ZA Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 I foresee either Normandy 2.0 or even as hinted at Sinai map releasing. The usual updates for most modules. I don't see any aircraft lunching except for maybe and it's a big maybe the F15E. If they Kiowa was a surprise launch I would just. 1

My guess at this point would be: - They planned to include multithreading in the Mar 1st update - When they realized it wasn't ready, they said they needed "a bit more time", which in ED-speak equals a few months - They'll now proceed sometime (I'd guess next week) with releasing the campaigns and new radio for the A-10 as a standalone patch, and kick multithreading out into late Q2 Just my pessimistic prediction (but based on over a decade of being an ED customer). 1 1

Dragon1-1 Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Could be, but based on the information they posted earlier, they might be at a point where it's not feasible to update the non-multithreaded branch. If they weren't, they would have put out a patch in February as usual. It seems the real development was done on the MT branch for a while now, and I'm afraid there's no going back to the old one now, as far as ED devs are concerned. So, however long that "little more time" means, they'll have to get it done before anything is released. 3
VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants Posted March 7, 2023 Author Posted March 7, 2023 We are moved! Yay! Anyway, almost forgot that the A-10C ]['s new radio and other minor feature updates and fixes. Hotdognz Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Im hoping for MT, dont really care for much else yet as this year I have decided I'm not buying any more modules or maps until I see some improvements in the FPS and really the ground AI improvements to make helicopters missions more fun without having to trigger the hell out of missions,, some better basic AI ground skills/logic would be very welcome. 1
Furiz Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 I guess MT and F-15E, cant think of anything else delaying the patch by this much.
Hoirtel Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 (edited) I really didn't think that MT was coming this quickly but the wide speculation and lack of EDs intervention in this has made me think otherwise. It will surely have to be 2.9 at least if it does come. It could also be the phantom. Getting it out before the F15, but after the pre-order. They have said it is already late. Edited March 8, 2023 by Hoirtel 1
Zebra1-1 Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 (edited) My guess is that MT will be in either this delayed patch, or the next. It's been in closed beta testing for quite some time now and like Dragon1-1 mentioned, ED will hit a point where it no longer makes sense to maintain two cores. You also run into a point where you don't get the hardware spread from a test community than you would with general availability (at least open beta). But that might be more applicable to OS software. At the end of the day, it will come when it's ready. Waiting sucks, but this is probably one of the biggest core changes to hit DCS. Good things take time. Edited March 9, 2023 by Zebra1-1 1
Ramstein Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 when MT in cpu's hit the computer industry and users it was a really big deal. As when the core2 cpu came out. I would think MT would be a big deal with DCS. as of now, even those of us with just a 4 core cpu would and should really be helped with MT.
